My ancestor John Burrow was married in Somerset (in 1817) but later moved the family to Devon. I have not been able to find his parents, but have made progress with his other sons (he had 5 sons) and their descendents.

So if anyone has any connection to Burrow or Burrows familes from Bideford and Aylesbeare in Devon, Veryan in Cornwall or Birkenhead in Cheshire, during the 1880s and 1890s up to the 1901 census, I'll be happy to help.

Robynne

dates for William M. & Amanda Burrow, Delta or Lamar Counties, Texas

Can the "Contact: Unknown" person who entered the information below in the One World Tree please contact me (click my username for my e-mail address) ? I have different dates of birth and I would like to resolve the differences.

Here is the One World Tree data I'm asking about:

William M. BURROW, born 29 DEC 1848 in Madison County, Alabama,
died 9 DEC 1924 in Delta County, TX.
Wife: Amanda Jane ROSSOU b: 26 MAY 1850 in Alabama.
Married: 17 AUG 1869 in Jackson County AL.

I have pretty much the same information in my tree, except that William's birth year is 1839 and Amanda's is 1843. My dates appear on the cemetery website:
http://userdb.rootsweb.com/cemeteries/TX/Lamar/cgi-bin/txlam...
(click on "Burrow, W.M" and "Burrow, Mandie").

I believe a descendant of William Henry Burrow submitted this information, since there is much data on that branch of the tree. It is possible my husband's grandfather, James Monroe Burrow, is the brother of William Henry Burrow that you have listed as "James M." (the birthdates are the same), but I can't tell for sure until I resolve the parents' birthdate question.

Your possible long-lost-cousin,
Elaine

I am researching my Burrow roots. My Burrow family comes fromn Randolph County Alabama. I have traced them back to John J. and Amanda Burrow who died around 1888 and are buried in Ophelia Cemetary at Mt. Prospect Church in Randolph County Alabama. I has long been rumored that we have ties to Rube Burrow, the infamous Alabama bank robber. Any info. would be helpful.

Leonard Edward Burrow recently passed away in Livermore, CA. He is thought to have been born in Alabama. The family thinks his father's name was Cecil. He got married to Etter Louise Levett(sp?) in Arkansas. They had my uncle, Calvin Eugene Burrow in Morrow, AR. But that is all I know.

Does anyone have any information on this line of ancestry?

mrhuffine@yahoo.com

Im looking for Burrow ancestors. My grandfather was Robert Ester Burrow, his father was Robert Wesley Burrow who came to Arkansas from Tennessee. His father was Jarrel B. Burrow. Jarrel B's father was John Freeman Burrow, whose father was Philip Burrow. But there is more than one Philip Burrow and I am trying to figure that all out. Robert Wesley Burrow was from the Mason Tn. area. The info that I have states that Jarrel B. and his wife are buried at Galloway Tn. Any info on the Philips or my other Burrows would be greatly appreciated.

Burrow born December 22, 1857, birth place unknown, died May 8, 1915 in Hoxie, Lawrence County, Ark., buried in Lawrence Memorial Cemetery in Walnut Ridge, Ark. His second wife is Elsie Brownfield, missing infor on her also. Either of his wive is buried beside M.H. Burrow. M.H. and Sallie had two children from this union, Charles and Mary Malinda "Mollie". M.H. and Elsie had three children from this union, Dollie, Carrie and John. Charles lived somewhere in Calif. Mollie is my great grandmother, born May 27, 1880 in Gadston, Crockett County, Tennessee, died June 15, 1966 in Hoxie, Ark. and married Roy Raleigh Robinson on December 31, 1900. Mollie was married before Roy, do not know his name but know that he fought in the Spanish American War but never return, assume killed. Information on Mollie first husband would be great. M.H. is the son of James Riley Burrow from Bedford County, Tenn. If is anyone that can help me, I will share all the information that I have. Also there is this great website for the Burrow, titled "FROM THE PURPLE MOUNTAINS, TO THE LAND OF COTTON". Thank you.

I am looking for information on Robert Burrow. He was born about 1791 in Virginia. He reportedly got married in Sullivan County,Tennesse about 1822. Apparently they never lived in Sullivan County or if they did it was for very long. I find Robert on the 1830 and 1840 census for Carter County, Tennesse and nowhere after that. I very much need to know who his wife, children and grandchildren were. Any info at all would be helpful.

William Thomas Burrow~Ada Burrow

This is my first post! My name is Beth Buzbee-Burrow. My husband is Larry Alan Burrow. His father: Freeman Adderson Burrow; his grandfather: William Thomas Burrow; his great grandfather: Ruben (Rube) Burrow. I saw a post from Janice Burrow-Broussard, in which she mentions going to a reunion with Larry's Aunt Bessie and his grandmother, Ada. I would like to find out where William and Ada are buried. Larry remembers visiting his grandma Ada when he was quite young. Also, his father had shown him a photo of Ada's 100th birthday. Ada died in 1988, and Freeman in 1989.
I would VERY much appreciate any and all information, photos, copies, etc.
I am making a family album. We also plan to visit Alabama to see Rube's grave and other related sites. And visit relatives!
Larry has an older half sister, Joy Burrow. Says she may have some info and photos. Would love to find her!
Our email: landboflp@houston.rr.com
Many Thanks!
Please put "Burrow Family" in subject on email, so I know it is not junk email.

My gggrandfather Reuben Burrow died in Jones Co.,Iowa in Jan. 1859 after a three month illness. I have discovered the records pertaining to the settling of his estate but found no indication of his burial place nor what type illness he had. Reuben was the husband of Margaret Ackerman who later married Philander Rathbone. Reuben had three children William Randolph, Mary Adda (my ggrandmother Rea), and Oren. I would love to share information about these people.

Burrows in Alabama

I've just recently gotten interested in searching out my roots, as it were.
My Mother's maiden name was Burrow. Her father -- my grandfather -- was Ben Burrow,
born in Scottsboro, AL. I understand his father was Doc Burrow. My great-grandfather,
Doc, had two marriages: his first wife died, and then he had another family with Ellen or
Aileen Wallace -- this is the family my grandfather was a part of. Some of his siblings were
Nancy, Albert, and Harve.

I realize this is pretty sketchy, and I don't even know the year my Grandfather was born...this
kind of stuff just wasn't discussed in our family.

If anyone has any information, or can lead me in the right direction, I would
be most appreciative. Thanks.

Galen Colbert
rlbgbc@swbell.net

He was a watchmaker by trade and his five sons Richard, Harry, John, Fred, and one other all followed suit. Son John was born in Manchester in 1854. He married Mary Lincoln in Norfolk Presbytarian Church in 1876, travelling to New Zealand with 5 children abt. 1889.
There are photos of Henry and his wife.
