Hi Joanne,

Well, to say it's a distant relation would be... understating it!

According to ancestry, Joseph Boates is the great grandfather of husband of 1st cousin 3x removed of wife of brother-in-law of sister-in-law of aunt of wife of 1st cousin 5x removed.

I am related to the Ault's and one very, VERY board day I just started branching out and out and out and out (and even further out!!!) until I came to them.

I have no idea about JH Burt, but I'm wondering what your relation is to the Boates family of PEI? I notice you have my great-great grandparents photos on your tree (Flora McKay and Joseph Boates). I've never seen a connection to "Burt", so I was curious!

Hi Carol, my name is John Hart Miller and I believe that this John R. Burt is my gg grandfather. My great grandmother was Alceona (Burt) Dincler, she married Benjamin Oliver Dincler in Agusta, KY. Alceona was killed Oct. 4, 1921, when the Model T car she was riding in, driven by her daughter and my grandmother, Della Gertrude (Dincler) Hart struck them broadside at a crossing a few miles west of Excelsior Springs, MO (Clay Co.). Her husband and my g grandfather, B.O. Dincler, my grandad, James Moore Hart, Jr. and my grandmother won a large judgement against the RR for no blowing the train whistle as they approached the crossing. My grandmother, Della, was named for her aunt (Gertie) Gertrude Burt who married a Drake. They had a daughter named Minnie Drake that I remember my grandmother speak of when I was little. I have very little info on my Burt ancestors, but sounds like you have a lot. I would like to exchange e-mails with you to share info on the Burts, Dinclers if you are interested, etc. My e-mail is tecserco@estreet.com. Alceona and B. O. Dincler lived around Paris, KY, where my grandmother was born in 1891. She had two brothers, Charles Lee and Benjamin Oliver, Jr. Alceona et al moved to Lexington, KY around 1900 and then to Lone Jack, MO, abt. 1909. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Eulalia Marche Burt - H5a

My husband's well-documented direct maternal line ends with Eulalia's grandmother Joane or Johanna (?) through Hannah Burt, the first of the children born in Massachusetts. Has anyone succeeded in pushing this back any further in Devon? The H5a m-dna haplogroup happens to be the maternal haplogroup of Estrid, the last queen of Denmark buried in Roskilde Cathedral in Copenhavn. This raises the question of how the Devon population connects with Denmark. It is either the case that Joane (?) is a descendant of Normans who brought (Danish and Trondelager) wives with them to England. Alternatively the Angles share language and background with tribes in the north of Germany and southern Jutland. Puritan=Viking?

George T. was listed in the 1910 Conecuh Co., Al. census. He was married to Mattie A. McMillan. The 1910 census list their children as; Jennie age 30, Lou age 28, Maggie age 22, David age 20, Cuyler age 17 (My wife's grandfather), Mary age 13, and Hattie age 11.
Mattie's sister Francis E. McMillan living with them. Her age as 64. Census list her as Franci. My mother-in-laws middle name was Francis. Probably named after her.
I just got this info today. It is more info than my mother-in-law knew, or any of her siblings knew. Ant info will be helpful, and greatly appreciated.

I know quite a bit about Sir Charles Burt, who was without doubt, the ablest of the late 19th Century Richmond (Surrey) vestrymen - polititions. Have written several articles on various aspects of the town, three at least featuring him and a litle book about the Church (St Pauls)he built entirely at his expense! Sir charles is on my 'list' for an article and would like to learn something more of his fammily and succession. Ron Berryman M.A. (local history Kingston).

There are 707 pages to the PDF file. Woudl be nice to own the book but it is pretty pricey for a page o two. Hope this will help you.

My family is from Springfield area (Hampden/Wilbraham/Springfield) but originally come from St. George/Hinesburg Vermont via Westfield. Birth records for a couple of children of Buel and Senara Burt who were born in Vermont indicate that Buel came from Connecticut. I cannot find any documentation of Buel's birth (about 1815) in Connecticut. All I have begins in Vermont.

If you have any connection to my line, I would love to share information.

Norm Burt

Perhaps others have... but I have not come across anything else on the birth of Samuel Morgan Burt. I am quite certain that she never married Capt. John Morgan Burt as she is referred to as Catey Hamilton (not Burt) in the marriage to Dr. Jared Hitchcock.

I have found reports of Capt. Burt's death in Norfolk, VA in The Hampshire Federalist, Essex Register and Independent Chronicle. He is buried in St. Paul's Churchyard in downtown Norfolk. A transcription of the inscription can be found at http://nyvagenealogy.homestead.com/stpaulschurch.html.

Are you trying to prove Rev. War service for Capt. John Morgan Burt or for Catey's father, John Hamilton?

Most show up in the census just after they were taken in Scioto County OH in a children's home. Orville "Bill" Burt is I believe the one who shows up as William. Then, I lost him and he shows up in another census at 17 as a "boarder".

Then, last year, I talked to one of his daughters Nancy Burt Sexton who lives in Price Hill. The Orville or "Orval" in my line died in 1975 and he had 8 children, I think, with a lady named Phoebe, who is still living.

Hello,

I am looking for information on my great grand father, Joseph Henry Burt.

I don't have much to go on...

He married Eva Nelly Rix in June 1918 and had two children, Joseph Walter (born 1920) and Beryl (born 1926).

Joseph and Beryl both moved to North America (Joe to Kingston, Ontario, Canada and Beryl to Bloomington, Indiana, USA.

At some point Eva ended up in Bristol where she died in Sept 1967. My dad THINKS Joseph Henry Burt died sometime around 1956... but he was only 9 at the time and isn't positive that was the right year.

I have a copy of my grandfather Joseph's birth certificate and this is what it says regarding Joseph Henry Burt: Lived at 2 Wiggs Passage Distillery Street, Norwich.

His occupation is listed as a Mechanical Engineer Motor Borer and ex-army.

Hi Peter,
I am a direct descendant of Walter and Mary Ann. Edith Mabel Burt is my great grandmother.
She married Herbert Thompson (1896?) and they had the following four children:
Edith Lola Thompson b March 18 (not sure of year) and died November the same year.
Walter Keith Thompson b 11/9/1897 and died 24/3/1916
**Ethel Mabel Thompson b 5/5/1900 and died 17/3/1986
John Thompson who died at birth – Not sure of the year

Herbert Thompson died and Edith then married Hugh Joseph Nolan and they had the following two children:
Hugh Joseph Nolan (dec)
Olive Nolan

**Ethel Mabel Thompson is my Grandmother and I am starting to piece together some family history using her book of birthdays my mother gave me.

I have further information on Elsie and Ethel if you are still interested. I have read the latest string between you and Annie and yes there was a fourth daughter called Lillian Rose who married William Martin, but I was unsure of the parentage until I read what Annie wrote, although I am fairly sure that Walter is not Lillian’s father. The child Grace Lillian who is buried with Mary Ann, is Lillian and Williams child.
I do in fact live in Victoria, most of the descendants do.
Regards, Amanda
I walked through this yard in Sept 2010 looking for anything with the name Burt, saw none, and ran out of time to look at even half the stones.

My family is from Dunfirmline. A 'James George Burt' (b 10 Aug 1888) was my grandfather. His parents were 'James Burt' (b 9 Dec 1839) and 'Helen Burns' (b 1849 or 1850). Our line migrated to New Zealand.

I cannot read any date on the head stone - what is the inscription other than their names.
