Hi, I am looking for information regarding my ancestor Joseph Butcher. He had a son named Squire Butcher, who was born in 1834 in Tennesse and died in 1905 in Aledo IL. I believe that he was married to a woman named Mary Oaks. Approximate dates of Joseph's life and death are 1788-1839. I have come to a point that I cannot find any more information, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Nicole

Do you know which Butcher family you are from? I am just starting serious research on that side of my family. I can get back to Solomon Butcher 1797-1869 married to Catharine Stephens. She was born in 1798 but I can't find any death records. They had a son, Jacob David who married America Finley and they had 11 children, I think one Pearl Mae must have died very young as their last child was Myrtle Mae, 1883-1969. My line then continues through Jacob's son Charles who was my great grandfather. My grandfather was Lawton Butcher. This line seems to run through Indiana and Missouri, not sure where else. Any information you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Sheryl Butcher

Lee I saw a recent post of yours as well as your reply to this. Having 2 active Grand children my research time has dwindled from hours to seconds. Sorry for the long delay in replying. Yes my Butchers were noted in two places Strood, Rochester, Kent and Headcorn, Ashford, Kent.
My earliest research finds me about 1736 with a Smith Butcher marrying an Ann Baker. Does this help?

Great grandfather BUTCHER moving from America to UK

Hello.

I originally thought my Great grandfather William Harry Butcher was born in the Norfolk area of the UK, but recently after a conversation with my uncle he told me his mother told him that William Harry was actually born in the US and come over from Texas. I'm still unsure of this as my father and his sister were never told by their parents of this. I've got some info on William Harry if anyone can find a suitable record.

William Harry had three children with Laura May Doy (maiden name Boughton) William Harry jnr in 1921, Harry William in 1922, and Laura May in 1922 all born in the Norfolk area.

On my grandad (Harry William) William Harry is listed as being a motor lorry driver for an oil company. By the time of my grandparents marriage in 1944 William Harry is listed as deceased ( at the time of death the profession still states he is working for the oil company but instead of lorry driver he is now manager)

I've tried to search the immigration and emigration records myself with not to much luck of any arrival in England, but maybe someone else would have a better searching method. Thanks, Paul

I don't know if there would be a family connection or not, but I am related to Edward Grady Butcher, a descendant of
Ely Butcher, Samuel Butcher. Edward Grady Butcher is my 3rd great grandfather. Edward Grady Butcher married Sarah Willson (Wilson) and she passed away and then he married Susan Elizabeth Rexrode Teachout Butcher. They lived in Camanche, Iowa. I have information on Edward Grady Butcher but nothing can be found regarding his 2nd wife, Susan Butcher. He passed away in the 1870's and is buried in Rose Hill cemetary with his first wife, Sarah. There was a big fire or tornado in the town of Camanche, Iowa (Clinton County) and hundreds of cemetary records were lost. But also if there is any connection between my Butcher's and yours can you help me with this please? Thank you. Sue Roggendorf

Hello Carolyn, My fairly extensive records on all the Pittsylvania Co VA Butchers don't show or indicate any connection to your group. Unless it is before William born about 1750, died 02 April 1800. Some descending from my William & Jane of Pittsylvania County say his father was a John Butcher, but I haven't found nor seen any proof.

Ada (Proctor) Butcher, b.abt 1862 Illinois, wife of Dr. John C. Butcher, missionary to India

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Ada C. Proctor – American Mission – Moradabad, W.P., India”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Rockford (Winnebago Co.) IL, and she looks to be about age 25.

I found Ada C. Proctor, age 18, in the 1880 census for Cloud Co., KS, as daughter of Charles and Caroline Proctor. In a book by George W. Isham, titled “Two Years in India”, he states that Ada Proctor “from Illiniois, went to India and there married Rev. Dr. Butcher, missionary at Moradabad.” Checking on Dr. John C. Butcher revealed that he was a medical doctor and missionary under the Methodist Episcopal Church. In a 1916 passport application, his middle name is shown as Clark and his birthdate as 5 Apr 1857 in England. In that application, he lists his wife as Ada C. Butcher (born 1862), with minor children Ethel C. (born 1902) and Florence C. (born 1904), both of whom were born in India.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Ada C. Proctor Butcher.

Hi - there are Butchers (Boutchyards) from Stafford County VA in my grandmother's Limbrick/Limerick line. Most Stafford records were burned or lost so it's hard to connect family lines. If you have any info that might tie to Stafford, would you share? Some of the Limbrick family migrated south to Alabama, Mississippi and Texas - others seem to have gone west - lots remained in the area of Stafford and surrounding counties. Other names associated with the Butchers in Stafford are Bettis and Snellings.

My grandmother was Emma Roy Limbrick, b. 1861 and her father was Landon S. Limbrick who married Catharine Bettis - he had a son, Landon C(urtis) Limbrick.

Any info much appreciated.

Jeri Brooks
jerib6@aol.com
703-497-5251
Hi Heather. I will sort some way out to send it to you. George Griffin was buried at the New Mill Baptist church Tring was he also married twice as there is some confusion with the chapel records as they also mention an Ann Griffin being the mother of Thomas Butcher of Tring bank when we know this is incorrect.
Hi. I have only just seen your post but I can give you the answer, Lydia Griffin was first married to William Butcher( d 1788 Tring) and not as stated on the tree published here as the Lydia Butcher that it states married George Griffin the daughter of William Butcher & Lydia Mead, she died at birth .Thomas Butcher was her son and he set up the bank with his son also Thomas in 1836, the other children mentioned are the children of Elizabeth Butcher who married John Hughes. William Butcher d1788 was my 4x grandfather hope this helps. Keith

Lucy Ann Cody was my great great grandmother. Information from my family is that she was born 1/13/68 in Springfield, MO, and died 12/19/1957 in Shawnee, OK. She Married Franklin Son on 10/12/84 in Daugherty, OK. I have quite a lot of information about Franklin, and their 7 children. I really appreciate the other information you provided about the family. Thank you so much. We could keep in touch, and if I find anything more, I could let you know. I have a followup note to look into the family of Ezekiel Butcher, born in Grainger, TN, in 1800 and died in Hartsville, MO in 1859. My note is that he might have been Sarah Elizabeth's father.

The information I am looking for pertains to his first wife, Elizabeth Richardson. I believe I am related to her through her brother, Harvy, who shows to be living with Lewallen and Elizabeth in the 1850 US Census.

Any information, even educated guesses are welcomed.

Thanks,

John Ryberg

You should drive down some weekend and introduce yourself - Bud and his wife JoEllen are wonderful people, and would love to meet you. I think the farm is also pretty cool now. Thanks for the contact and say hi to my aunt!!

Grandma still living. I wouldn't know any of the Butcher side unless they were to introduce themselves. The last time I was in the old farm house was growing up as a kid and going down to visit great grandma Hazel in the 1980's. I live about an hour north of the old home place in Ohio.

Cool! I remember your grandmother, but sorry, not your mother specifically. We did visit her once in Ohio, and there were lots of kids!! Is Teresa still living? Do you stay in touch with Uncle Bud (her baby brother)? Bud's son, Rob, is now running the farm, and seems to be doing well with it. Where do you live? I'm on Amelia Island, FL - my sister Jymme is in Boston - my son, Chris, is in Springfield, MO and has 2 kids - my daughter, Dana, is in W. Palm Beach, no kids. So nice to hear from you - we Butchers have always been very independent!!
