George Henry Byrd from NC

Seeking information on my great-great grandfather George Henry Byrd from NC (possibly Wilkes and/or Guilford counties) b. Feb 1857 and d. 15 Aug 1921.

George was married to Mildred Susan Hackney of Mecklenburg County and had a daughter Bessie Geneva (my great-grandmother) along with other children Albert Henry, Mary Lucille, and John William.)

I would love to find the names of George's parents so that I can research his lineage, but any and all information is greatly appreciated!

I am also a great granduaghter of John Franklin Byrd and Annie Woolard. James Christopher is my grand father he died the year I was born. He died Aug 1st 1955. My dad name is Robert Chris Byrd and he has picutres of Jonh and Annie hanging on his wall. Some reltives are asking me to help find out about their background and I am not sure how to start.

Mr and Mrs John Mason Dulaney announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Marie Dulany, to Mr. William Byrd, son of the late Col. William Byrd, of Winchester, VA and a brother of Mr. Richard Evelyn Byrd, of Richmond. The wedding will take place early in December er and will be very quiet. The ceremony will be performed at the Churh of St. Michael and All Angels and Mr Byrd's brother, Lieutenant George Byrd, USA will be best man. Mr. Byrd is a civil engineer and is connected with the Sewerage commission in this city. Miss Dulany is the youngest of five sisters, all noted for their beauty and charm. The others are Mrs. Frank Tucker, Mrs Francis DeWolf Theobald, of Baltimore; Mrs. Frank Rold Porter, of Kansas City, and Mrs. John Effinger of Mobile, TX.
Miss Dulany is descended from well known families in Pennsylvania and Maryland, one of her ancestors was Robert Morris of Philadelphia, one of the singer of the Declaration of Independence, and another was Ralph Higgenbotham, for a long time president of Mary and William College.

i have a john byrd with a birth date of june 5 1856(but i don't recall where i got that date at!)from roaring river, wilkes county, nc
which married a franky jane blackburn(her parents were both born in nc, and died in floyd county ky-and a lot of blackburns are now in floyd county so chance franky might of been there for awhile also)

one of john and frankys children were ary jane byrd(which married william h billings)

but i can't seem to get past john byrd, who were his parents?

Drury/ Drewery Bird /Byrd

I am looking for the father of my ancestor. Drury D Byrd was born in 1786 in North Carolina and died in 1854 in Stewart County, TN. Many ancestry.com family trees have listed his father as Joab ( but he died 4 years before Drury was born). Others have listed Shadrack Byrd as his father, but my extensive reseach does not list Drury as one of Shadrack's children, Any help would be much appreciated.

As far as i know about my father is that his father name was Ivy and his wife name was Delia(Howel)Byrd, and the sunt that I knew about was name Eula Byrd-Henry. And they was from Cleveland Tenn.

Hi Pat. I don't believe any confirmation has been made. The only reference to a Jr/Sr I've found was on the 1850 census. And the only middle initial of M. I've seen was Ezra M., son of John in Morehouse parish

I am so confused. Was Ezra Jr. the one married to Rhode? I have them as the mother/father of Ezra, Harriet John and one named Eveline, who lived in Leesville. I have no evidence that Zilpha belonged to that bunch. so was Jerena the mother of Rachel, Elizabeth, Abraham, William, John, and etc? Who is Ezra Sr? There must be one somewhere or there could not be a Jr. Thanks for any help. Pat

I show Ezra as having married Rhoda (Rode) Marler (Marlow) in Mississippi. He moved to LA. Where in the world does Jerena fit in? Was she a second wife? If so, I know nothing about her as related to my Ezra. But she shows up enough to confuse my work. Pat

Hi to all! I've been following this Byrd line for many years. My great grandmother was the granddaughter of Ezra Byrd but not Jerina Goff. After Jerina died, Ezra remarried, had two more children before passing away himself.
Now Ezra Sr & Rhoda Marler...this Ezra, was the son of William Byrd and Nancy Courtney>>> William & Nancy had two sons, Ezra and John. John was the father of Ezra Macajah Byrd.
I finally found the family in the 1830 census, St Landry parish...and the only likely father from William E. is John.

I can tell that this family, even when spread out, remained close...even the families of the girls.

James Thomas Byrd, Sr. was born in Texas and was married to Mary Elizabeth Meridith, born in Florida.
James Thomas Byrd,Jr.was born November 24, 1902 in Liberty Texas, married to Meg M. Byrd whose son was son of James Thomas Byrd, III, born in Mobile, Alabama on March 23, 1929.

James Thomas Byrd, III died in Alabama on December 4, 2008.

George was the son of George William Byrd and Margaret Annie Hutson. George was married first wife name unknown and his second wife was Elizabeth Hensley. They came out of Virginia and settled in Yancey County, North Carolina.

I wish to find the name of the first wife as she and George are my g/g/g/great-grandparents. Also trying to find out information on all their children.

Alonzo Beasley was born in Gary, Texas in September 1882 or 1884.His wife was Bettie Solomon Beasley who was born in 1882.
His father was Robert Beasley, born in 1856-1858;
His mother was Georgiana Byrd (or Bird).
His paternal grandfather was Antony Beasley who was born between 1820 and 1824. His paternal grandmother was Charity Beasley who was of French and Indian descent.
Alonzo's maternal grandfather was Jacob Bird (or Byrd), I believe.
I will gather the information and email it to you. I saw your email address on the "Find A Grave" site I set up for your grandmother. All of her grandchildren who had the good luck to know her called her "Big Mama."
I have copies of census records and other information. I have been working on a family genealogy for a long time and I have compiled informtion about your paternal ancestors dating back to about 1799.

Pat... I am new at genealogy research, but am trying to learn about my Byrd relatives. I saw in the 1860 US census
records where Ezra Byrd and Rhoda E. Byrd were living in Lousiana and they had two children Harriett and John. It said Harriet was 30 at the time, meaning she was born about 1830 and John was 18 meaning he was born about 1842.

I am related to Ezra M. Byrd, born about 1797 in Mississippi, who married Rhoda E. Marlow in 1819 in Mississippi. He had a son, Ezra M. Byrd, born in 1822 in
Mississippi, who married Jerena Goff in 1844 in Sabine Parish, Louisiana. These two men are my great grandfather

Thank you so much I think my kids grandparents came
from that area cause they came from Mo to Ark
then passed away. But I do understand there is
so many people out there with the same names
I was just grasping at straws I just wished
we had known about genealogy back when we
was younger so we could have talked about where
we came from you know what I mean. I guess the
Byrd's will always be my brick wall on my kids
side of their dad's side.

Hi Debbie, I have been looking for my gggrandmother Millers parents for years now with no luck, I thought maybe you would know them since you have information on the Miller and Byrd family's. Her name was Nancy Miller born abt.1825 in tn her husband was John Byrd born abt 1823 Scott Co. TN, John Byrd parents were Jesse Byrd and Nancy Shoopman. I am also looking into the Byrd name for my
children line. Their greatgrandpa's name was
Charlie Byrd married to ViolaJonesByrd and
I know that you need dates but I have none
except they was suppose to have passed away
in the early 30's, in Ark but there is no
graves for them in the town they lived in
and the youngest child was my father in law
Junior Byrd and he didn't know much about
his real family since he was a small boy
at the time of their deaths, he was about
6/7 yrs of age and he was given to the family
of Lee's and they raised him but they never told
him about his family that I know of cause he
never talked about them to his son's so they
have nothing to go by except the names of their
grandpa and grandma's names. So if you do have
a Charlie and a Viloa Byrd in that 400 page
info you have that shows some Byrd's moving
to Ark then passing away please let me know
or send me the info so I can read it and see

George Henry Miller had a daughter Nettie Miller who married Orval Byrd.....George's brother, William D. Miller, had a daughter Glea Miller...that is how we are related. I may have posted incorrectly....since I live close I thought I may be some help to Denise.

I just sent you an invitiation to my tree so that you can access my information. Just let me know if you need anything. I am trying to find Willie's parents and have been unsuccessful so far. My father used to spend his summers with Pappy Byrd. He was a fruit farmer and had an orchard. I didn't know if you knew that he was going to be a doctor but changed his mind. He was training under a physician and learned how to mix meds/elixirs/etc. which helped him throughout his life.

Joseph Jackson Miller and family moved from Hardin County, KY to Pine, Ripley County, MO in the early 1880's. Joseph's children were George (Lillie's line); John; William (my line); Fannie; Sallie; Martha.
