Hi

I am sure that George & marmaduke are part of my family but i cannot tie them in. However i do have some information for you:
I have found in 1798 marmaduke Bywell was listed on the UK Land tax Redemption and again in 1799 in Haltwhistle Northumberland. Not sure what it means. marmaduke was born in 1743 in grinton York the son of George Bywell. He was christened on 10 sept 1743 at Grinton York. Marmaduke also had a brother called George Bywell born in 1739 at Grinton York.I have found the marriage for George Bywell to Catherine Fulburn on 21st Oct 1736 at Bedale Yorks. This is obviously Marmaduke & George's parents but i can't find a birth for George Bywell
I do however have a little information on Mary Waugh. She was born in 1748 the daughter of Joseph Waugh and was christened on 5 June 1748 at Haydon Northumberland. She married marmaduke on 25 May 1782 at Warden Northumberland.

I hope that this info helps you. If you need any more assistance please contact me

Jackie

I am searching for a George Bywell, born approx 1700, possibly in the northern part of England. Don't have a wifes name but he did have a son Marmaduke Bywell, born 1743, who married Mary Waugh.

Daryce

Hi Alan

Thanks for your message. Can you tell me the exact address where you live. I have Bywell's that lived in the East End and also the West End as far as i can recall. I currently live in Spain but i came up to Middleham 2 years ago to have a look at the village and absolutely loved it. My ancestors were very priviledged to live in such a beautiful place. I was born in Leeds as most of the people moved to the big towns during the latter part of the 1800's during the Industrial Revolution for work.

Jackie

Dear Sir / Madam

We bought a cottage in Middleham 2 years ago. I am researching the Bywell family who I believe owned the property in 1841 or earlier.
Any information would be appreciated.

Kind regards,
Alan
