I would love to have the pictures. My grandmother was a family history buff before it was a popular thing to do and without the help of computers. I have recently begun going through her notes and with the help of ancestry.com I am hooked! My grandmother was always more interested in my grandfather's history than she was her own and the discussions always came around to Casper Cable and Sue Simerly. I can't wait to see the pictures. My e-mail is bertie1313@yahoo.com. Thanks so much!

I'll check with some family members if they have heard of the Robbins family. The census I really need for Milton Cable is 1890 since he was born in 1882. Since there are no census reports for that time period, the 1900 one leaves me completely out of luck. At age 18, Milton has moved to a boarding home for some reason. Still having trouble confirming his parents who are supposed to be Charles & Sarah. After 1900 Milton is well documented.

Elizabeth Cable 1826 - 1855 m John Lehman 1818 - 1855

Wandering around the web this afternoon and happended upon an unsettled question about the ancestry of my 2g gm Francis Adeline "Daisy" Lehman. Several years ago I saw Jim Eller's Rootsweb post on the descendancy of Jacob Cable which shows his granddaughter Elizabeth possibly married "John Lilman (Lahman?)". I had suspected John Lahman was the father of my Daisy; both he and his wife Elizabeth Cable died in 1855.

Now the good part. I found the 1860 census of Waltz Twp, Wabash Co, IN has Francis A. Lahman age 9 and William C. Lahman age 14 living with Martin and Elizabeth Cable. Also living with them is Sarah Hollepefer/Hollepeter? probably dau of Nancy Cable. Then the next house has Nancy Lahman, probably Francis's sister, living with Catherine Cable and husband James Lewis.

Sewickley is almost next to Rochester. I have many distant relatives in both. The Cables married into the Robbins family, I believe both a sister and a brother married into the Robbins family. A few names, Howard Robbins, Thelma Robbins (who was a Cable), Isabel, Harry and more. I still have contact with some of them. Isabel died a few years ago, one day after my mother died. They were cousins. I have a Milton Cable on one of my census listings and will look for it tonight. I am still trying to find siblings of Jonathan Cable. I'll keep in touch.

Ed,

Thank you so much! When I first started looking into the Cable family out here, I had NO IDEA there were so many of them! I'm so surprised but also a little dismayed when seeing all the Cable's I could not make the connection that I need to. Milton owned a pool room in Ellwood City and a tavern, I've found articles about him in the Newcastle News but nothing to link him to family members. He was also a great bowler!
Laurie Cable Olsson

Hi,

I see you have begun to look at Rochester, Beaver County, PA. That is a very good source. Most of my grandfather's relatives, siblings, lived in that area. There is also a huge Cable clan in Connellsville, PA. I will keep you posted on anything I find. I will be calling some of my cousins in Beaver County to see what I can find.

JONATHAN CABLE WAS RAISED BY CHRISTENA (CATHORINE) SHUNK WHO WAS MARRIED TO GEORGE COLEMAN IN 1813 AND JOSEPH BAUM IN 1830. THERE IS NO FATHER LISTED FOR JONATHAN CABLE.
IT APPEARS TO BE THE BEGINNING OF THE CABLE LINE 1818 – 1902 IN PENNSYLVANIA.

I am attempting to find his parents through a back door, such as finding siblings or other relatives. I am descended from Jonathan through Austin E. who was my great grandfather and his son George Emery Cable who was my grandfather.

Should you be interested, I have a number of documents relating to Jonathan as well as a photograph of his Grave Marker in Mt. Does anyone know the relation between William Cable and Daniel Cook Cable (born abt 1823)?

Following names, there is a pattern to using family names. I had uncles William and Daniel, probably named after their Grandfather and Great Grandfather.

Hello Anthony

I stumbled across your 2001 post today (nearly ten years after your post). I and another person are researching the Cable line which runs through both our families and that of my husband's paternal grandmother. My mother's maternal grandmother was Margaret Lamb Cable, b.1845 d.1929 who married David Sturrock in Arbroath in 1864. Her parents were George Cabel and Helen Pithie, who lived at Arbirlot. I have traced the Cable.Cabel, Kabel, Cabell line back with both parents to David Cable 1768-1870 and his spouse Elizabeth Alexander b. 1768, and back another couple of generations here only the father is named (several different spellings) through Thomas Cable, b. 28 March 1736, James Keble, b.11 April 1714 Forfar, James Cabbell, b.20 February 1684, Forfar, to his father named as David Cabbell (OPR Births 2888/00 0010 Forfar). The only ten tative link I can get beyond that is a possible father - David Chappell. I can supply details of Margaret Lamb Cable's siblings and descendants.

Hi Barbara! My ggrandfather Milton Cable, May 1882 was definitely born in Butler Co PA so could not have been a relation to your Sarah Cable. Our family Bible lists Charles and Sarah Cable as his parents with no other info. I can't even find these names in the census for this area around the time frame when Milton was born or lived in the area. By age 18 he was living in a boarding house and don't know why. There is no census for 1890 when I could have connected him to his family possibly.
I am trying to find the parents of Jonathan Cable from Bullskin Township, PA (b. Nov 6, 1818; d. Apr 9, 1902). He was married to Catharine Eicher Cable (b. Feb 9, 1821; d. Mar 12, 1895). They had many kids including Austin Cable, Susannah, Walter, and Kate to name a few. According to the 1880 Census I have, his mother Christina was 85 years old at that time, which would make her birthdate arount 1795/1796. Thanks.

they had a daughter name Lillin Cable born 5 may 1892 in Brooklyn. I have not been able to find William and Lizzie in the federal census... Lillian married Alfred Loule in 1910 in Brooklyn.

I would like to know more about her parents, brothers and sisters.
