No, Zona was probably born in LaSalle Co., Ill, but grew up mostly in KS in Dickenson Co. Myggrandmother Marie was born out of wedlock before her mother married John Bender. This is the first I had heard of them marrying in Lincoln, but it's likely because they lived there before moving to Council Bluffs. Zona moved to Iowa as a young adult and died around age 40. My grandmother told me about the traveling Cairns group. She heard about them from her mother. Not sure how they are related. Zona's father was born in Canada, but his father was from Scotland, I believe. I think he left Scotland because of his religion. He may have been forced to leave.
