I was at the local Family History Center when I read your reply. They have the Birth Indexes for IRELAND and I checked 1898 - 1901. Nothing resembling a May CAIRNS was found in any quarter of any of those years. I did find a Maud CAIRNS born 2nd Quarter of 1899 Registered Ballymoney volume 1 page 118. That's all the Index films give, nothing more. I tried the Scotland Births Indexes and did find a May CAIRNS born 1898 in Dennistoun, Glasgow entry #1124. Have you viewed this one ? Glasgow is very near Stirlingshire where Fintry is. If you cannot read a word or name in any ScotlandsPeople document you've downloaded, write to them and they'll do the best they can to read it and send you what they decipher. Their contact information is on their homepage. Get the 'timestamp' of when you did the search, and tell them the name and GROS data on that particular Registration. Everyone I know of that's done this has gotten good results from them. They will even check the original in their vaults. Good luck !
