Yo naci en el Tlacuache 12/24/29, mi madre fue Esperanza Canchola hija de Jesus Canchola y Luz Pena. La madre de Don Jesus fue Antonita Canchola, y sus madre de ella fue La Chapita, que fue duena del rancho del Tlacuache y parte del cerro.
Tengo la historia de la familia hasta la Chapita, nacie sabe de donde vino. Tubo una hija y como cuatro hijos.
Yo me crie en el Tlacuache y tenia una case en Penjamo donde nunca livi. Siempre la pasavamos con mi tio Ignacio Canchola y su familia, Nacho y Gilberto toda via viven en Penjamo con sus familias.El nombre "Canchola" salio de "Concha" que es una piedra. Cuando vinieron a Mexico, solo Dios sabe.
Los Canchola de Goble,Arizona son del Tlacuache tambien.

My father was Jesus Canchola Perez, From Mexico. He was
born in 1928. and his mother came from Mexico and was born in Arizona.
there are alot of Canchola's across the border. My father had a book when I was little that showed that the family came over from Spain, into Mexico.

My grandparents are still alive thank G-d! Our family has always had "peculiar" traditions that we've always kept I did the research and sure enough these traditions coincide with Jewish ones. I confirmed this from my other Jewish friends who always asked why my family was so different but so alike to theirs. My grandparents won't openly say that they have Jewish origins as if their scared of someoe finding out since they are practicing Catholics.But Grandmother has been more outspoken as to these "peculiarities" she's shared many stories with me about daily life with her Mother. My advice to you when asking questions to your relatives is to NOT input or add onto put to just simply ask. If they say YES or NO then you will know for sure of your backround.

Hello, so many of my older relatives have passed away & there are very few that have any information re:our past. My grandfather was from Morelia, Mexico as far as I know. His name was Filiberto Canchola & he moved to Chicago, not sure when, but he is no longer alive. I've been told for years that Canchola is a "Sephardic" (Spanish) Jewish name & that we are Jewish. This is a new & exciting revelation to me. I'm continuing to pursue & research this & even going to have family members take a Jewish Ancestry dna testing to determine heritage & finally get to the bottom of this. Shalom : )

Yes indeed your grandparents are correct we are all somehow related. The Canchola name is very UNCOMMON even in Mexico. The common denominator is that all of the Canchola come from 3 states in Mexico Guanajuato and Michoacan the majority from Guanajuato. The origins of the name however are very obscure no one knows for sure where it comes from however the name is not native mexican much less spanish it just too foreign to sound like anything else. Both my grandparents are a small town in guanajuato MX. (Cueramaro). Presently there are quite a few Canchol's that still live in MX naturally and the Canchola family is actually a very prestigous name I know for a fact that several great uncles where Mayors, doctors lawyers ect. and where very well respeted. Not much else I can tell you except that my family had some particularly distinct religous traditions fro the rest of the families, not much else.feel free to contact me at superrabbi2000@yahoo.com.

My name is Caleb Campos Canchola. Our family name is extremley rare. The origins of the name are totally obscure my grandparents dont know of the origin of that name but for sure its not native mexican much less spanish it sounds too foreign. My granparents and Mother are form Cueramaro. My granpa;s name is Vicente Canchola.

My mother is from a little town called Cueramaro, Guanajuato very close to Irapuato in the state of Guanajuato. The name is not at all common and we are all some how related the family origins are obscure no one seems to know where it comes from but my family did have some interesting religous traditions. Have you tied this site Sephardim.com I know I found out some info there it might help you in your search.

Hi Marisa, My grandmother told me today that her great-grandmother was Ramona Canchola and she asked me to look up her name on the internet. She said she was from Guanajuato. She never knew her, but her parents told her about her, that she had light colored eyes and very light skin. They took care of her in her old age. My grandmothers name is Raquel Posada and her mom's name was Castula Villavicencio.(these are maiden names.) She also mentioned something about Michoacan. My grandmother is around 76 years old. I can ask her more questions if you'd like. or if anyone out there has any questions, my grandmother has a good memory.

I'm from chicago but I'm not a Canchola although i know people with that last name but I'm not sure if it will be much help
but hey, maybe it will help.
Actually its a long list of Canchola's that I know, for example there are my co-workers Ivan, Jesus, and Omar Canchola and then there was another guy but he left some time ago his name I don't know but his nick name is Cuco i think its Jose or something.
I know Jesus has a lot of brothers and i think cuco is one of them, Ivan is his nephew and Omar is his cousin I think.

Hi--My father does have a sister by the name of Margarita. Her married last name is Pulido. Here are some of the names of my dad's other sibilings:
Elena (Still resides in Zinaparo)
Edelia (Still resides in Zinaparo)
Rafael ( half brother, has family in Mexico City)
Guadalupe (half sister, also in Mexico City)

If your family's origins are from Zinaparo, it is extremely likely that we may in fact be family. To my knowledge, my family is the only Canchola family in Zinaparo. Consequently, we may have some direct family ties.

My Grandfather was also from Guanajuato and he had 4 sons by the name of Ruben, Elias, Manuel, and Jose Canchola. Ruben my dad and Manuel have passed away. Just recently my sister and I have came in contact with Jose and Manuel and I am sure they can answer some more questions. My grandmothers name was Julia Canchola, not sure about her maiden name. Elias had moved to MO for a few years but he is now back in CA. It has been great to have contact with them after so many years. As for what i heard my dad had a daughter and a son out of wedlock. Daughters name Julia Canchola and the son w/ a married woman son's name Marcos Alberto or just Alberto but diferent last name. Both of them should be over 36 years old. Hello! as I was reading just doing some research on my lastname, I came across some post some old and some recent, they all seem so familiar to what you are all posting, I'm am originally fron Mexico D.F. my father is Jose Luis Canchola, he's from Guanajuato my grandfather past away in Mexico D.F. less than 15 years ago.my dad's father. I am very interested in finding whether or not we are related. My father was born in La Piedad Michoacan and has two living brothers and two living sisters who still reside in La Piedad.

Brothers are Aurelio and Jesus,sisters are Graciela and Dolores. My father past away about nine years ago of cancer and left all of us with many questions about our background. Hope you can be of help...

hello..my great grandmother's name was angela gonzales canchola, born in los altos de jalisco,guadalajara in the later 1800..she married my g-grandfather ignacio melendez, who was frm penjamo,gto..in the early 1900's..i believe it was an arranged marriage..angela had many relatives in penjamo & that is how the marriage was arranged..angela had gonzales & canchola relatives in penjamo...angela got mad at ignacio early in their marriage after having my grandfather refugio melendez...so she left penjamo,taking refugio with her...she went to douglas, az...chicago and the los angeles, cal area...at the end of her life, she had been living in the l.a . area with some gonzales family members..she died around 1940 & is buried in rose hill cemetery in whittier, ca...does anyone in the l.a. area know anything about her??? i live in the ventura, a area

the people who you speak of in your story are my great grandparnets, I don't know of a Mr, Ramon. but My great grandfather is name is Antonio jose canchola and his wife who I never meet her name is Marcelina canchola see she died in 73 I think of breast cancer, and Antonio died in mexico he was 99 just a few months away from his 100th birthday.
