Hi, My Great Grandma was Daisy M. Canoy Latham, daughter of William and Annie Canoy. I guess that makes us distant cousins :) I grew up around Daisy and remember her very well, she was a funny woman and loved to talk. She stayed with us all the time .

He married Irene (Rena Mae) Wade, and they had Marvin, JoAnn, Thomas and me, Patricia. Joe and Irene moved to Rolla in 1941, I think. That's where I was born.

I'm interested in information about Philip's war record too!

Patricia Crawford

A new stone has been set by Phillip/Philip Canoy at the Smith Cemetery. The Confederate soldiers in the area set the stone, I did the work getting it set. One of the great granddaughter Juanita Hogan Hines, gg nephew William G. Wood and another gg granddaughter Edna Mae Marlow Smith and my self attended. A flag was given to Juanita. It is a military stone set in front of Phillips old stone. Very pretty and free. Sheila swood@rollanet.org

Hi Liza! I am getting more and more excited! My grandmother is actually Spanish-French from her father's side (Jose Sr) of the family and Spanish-Chinese from her mother's side (Teodora) of the family. My mom said that my grandmother's name Vicenta was actually taken from her grandmother! - I assume that she is the one and only Vicenta Valdez-Dubouzet...meaning that my great grandfather Jose Sr is a brother to your great grandfather Deogracias and that we are 5th generation cousins!! Let's keep in touch okay?

Hi! I just found out from my mom that my grandmother's half-siblings' names from the same father (Lolo Jose Sr) are JOSE JR and MARCOS whose mother's name is Trinidad (?) while PAQUITA is her full bloodied sister from the same mother (Teodora).

Anyway, who among you by any chance are their offsprings?

The question now on my mind is - who is Lolo Jose Sr.'s father? What is his name? My mother does not know but dating back to what Chris and the others have said that Candido Dubouzet and his brother (what is the brother's name) came to the Philippines around 1860-1870s and that my grandma was born on 1916, it can be hypothetically concluded that my great grandfather Jose Sr is an offspring of either one of them? Isn't it so?

Hi there! According from my mom, my great grandfather’s name is Jose Dubouzet and married to Teodora Javellana-Dubouzet. They had a daughter, Vicenta Javellana Dubouzet, my grandmother, who was born on Sept 1916 and was raised in Bacolod City. My mom (Emma Dubouzet Sunpongco) used to see my grandmom often when she was still living in Manila but up until last month she went back to Mindanao (in Dipolog City) so really can’t ask her if we are in any way related to Candido and Vicenta Dubouzet or Candido's brother for the mean time. Calling my grandmom is not an option either since because of old age, she already has hearing problems. But thinking about it, the two generations of Dubouzets are both VICENTAS! Is it just a coincidence or has Vicenta become a traditional given name for a Dubouzet lass in the old times? Just a thought though. But anyway, there is a probability that we might really be relatives! Let’s keep in touch okay?

Hello! I just found you from google...I was actually searching some information regarding my grandfather's (mom's side) ancestry (he's from Fujian, China) but instead I found you...my grandmother's name (mom's side too) is Vicenta Dubouzet and she hailed from Bacolod City. Her father's French but I don't really know his name. She married Ho Chun Sunpongco (the one I've been searching for).. but we just might be relatives...

By the way, there are lots of family trees in friendster...after a few pages of searching, i got tired but still was not able to find the Dubouzet family tree...in this regard, could you give me a specific name to add to make it easier?? thanks and looking forward to hearing from all of you.

my grandfather's name is Deogracias Valdez Dubouzet was one of the 3 children of Candido Dubouzet and Vicenta Valdez. If i am not mistaken according from my mom. When Vicenta Valdez died and he decided to get married again Deogracias the eldest children decided to leave the family when he learned his dad Candido wanted to married again. There were times that my grandfather visited his family to sagay city negros occidental and unfortunately my mom never met the 2nd family in Sagay City. You could get intouch with me and help chris who doing the dubouzet project. By the way i am married to a french and he said from the google too that candido is a military french from south of france and we sent email already from the military archives in france and just waiting for the answer hopefully by next week. kindly add my email lizavelasco0374@yahoo.com same with my yahoo messenger and my friendster account

Hi! Dave,

I have spotted this thread as encompassing the Canoy's ancestry. BTW, I am Luciano Canoy, which i have got my Grandfather's name and my father's name originally is Antonino "Antonio" Canoy which claimed that they came from San Fernando, Cebu and during the war as my Grandfather is a high rank US Veterans soldier and that time they transfered in Bo. Vito which now part of Sagay City and 30 kms away from Escalante. If you claim that your bloodline is from San Fernando Cebu then no question asked we are much close as relatives. Keep in touch, I can be readily reached at my Yahoo Acct: lmacan@yahoo.com and i am in Seoul, Korea location.

Denise I think I could be a relative of your husband. I was doing a little searching of my own and typed in my maden name "gilleres" and this was a link I clicked on..well it seems very interesting that you had information about my grandfather Crispino Gilleres and my Great Grandfather Eulegio Gillers. Let me share with you what I just learned..

*******************************************************
Eulogio Gilleres married Narvana Agania. I have a copy of their marriage license dated 1/28/1918.
Children: Unknown
******************************************************
Eulogio Gilleres married Flora Navarro
Children: (married name)
-Semprosia (Ramos), aka Auntie Sammie
-Pernanda or Evelyn (Olanda) also (Tancayo) aka Auntie Nanda
-Crispino Gilleres
******************************************************
Eulogio Gilleres married Romana Canoy (maiden name?)
Children:
******************************************************

-Erotica or Ruth (Lara)
side note...we always teased mom about her name but she would always say that it is pronounced "E-ru-thica" thus.....Ruth. Yeah, k'mom.
*****************************************************
NOTE:
1. Abelina, Avelina or Dorothy Venalaio (Makimot, I never knew Auntie married) aka Auntie Abbie, is through Romana Agujar's marriage to Venalaio. One of the obituaries list Lacmot for Auntie Abbie, but I don't recognize that name. The same obituary list my dads name as Lloyd, which is also incorrect.

2. Someone in your emails' was interested in the last name 'Canoy".
I found a handwritten document by my mom that list my grandma's name as: Romana Canoy Venalaio Gilleres.
So I would assume that Canoy is her maiden name and she married 3 times. (Venalaio, Gilleres and Agujar).
*******************************************************
Denise Markam Santiago, daughter in law to Roman (Sonny) Santiago who's mother is Juanita Venalaio, sister to Auntie Abbie....would be a good source to track the Canoy side.
*******************************************************

So as you can see we too are searching for more answers this would be great if we could talk...My family is located in Hawaii and Philippines too...
