Hello, Bruno! My ancestor Bernard Capdeville emigrated from the south of France to Louisiana in the 18th century. I will look up the exact place he came from, near Tarbes, I think, and post it later. We have tons of Capdevilles in Louisiana.

Your ancestor Louis Albert Capdeville is most probably of the same family as my ancestor who came to North America a hundred years earlier.

That Bernard Capdeville was born about 1723 and baptized in the Catholic church of St. Foix de Morlaas, Diocese of Lescard, in the town of Morlaas in Bearn, France. That's in the Pyrennes foothills in southern France. If you can locate 19th century records of that diocese, I think that is where you might look for your ancestor.

I think my great grandmother Marie Elizabeth Capdeville is cousins with Mabel Capdeville. im not exactly sure. My great grandmother lived in Jennings Louisiana.

I'm studying origins of the name Capdeville.
So the names comes from latin caput (head) and villa (village)
and signification is
geographical : the one who lives at the beginning or on top of the village
hierarchical : the cheaf of the village

Before we moved to Oklahoma, I know that my hubbys family was in Montana, Indiana and California. His Grampa (Paul) was in the military, I think navy.

Sorry, I don't have that info. In fact, the grandmother that I have under the name Catherine Capdeville is under dispute for the name Capdeville. She's apparently listed under 2 names in the records: Capdeville & Ducoss dit Nota and I haven't been able to find out why she listed as both. If I run across anything that I think will help you, I'll send it.

I have seen your name several times while searching for Capdeville's and you seem to have a great deal of knowledge of the family.

I am looking for anyone who may know anything about my ancestors.

My Great-Great-Grandfather was Louis Albert Capdeville b 1855 in the Pyranees Mts., France. He came to the U.S. and married Jane White in San Gabriel California.

They had a son Louis Anthony Capdeville (My Great-Grandfather) b. 1889 in California. He married Beatriz Nancy Batz.

My grandmother was their eldest daughter, Marguerite Louise Capdeville b 4 Sep 1912 Glendale, California. She was the eldest of 9 children 3 are still living.

My name is Sherry and I live in Mexico, my grandfather came from France and his name was Alvaro Capdeville Levas, they arrived in Mexico around 1910 and decided to stay here, he had 13 brothers, he always mentioned that ALL Capdeville's were related, Capdeville means "head of the family", I've kept that in mind.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
The Catherine Capdeville married to Nicolas
Rousseau that I'm researching would have been
born in the 1700's. She's a problem because
sometimes she is listed as having the surname
Ducoss or Nota but the copies of records we
saw seem to define her as a Capdeville. If
you run across anything that clears this up
or gives any definite ancestry, I would
definitely like to see it.
