I can't really offer much information. Being a good friend of Christa's in Frankfurt, we worked together in the Maxim Bar. She told me of the situation and an agreement was made. I do know that Gerald's mother (your grandmother loved you very much. Your name must be Debbie Caprio. You had brown eyes and curly blondish hair as a baby. It was my understanding that your father married and went to Ohio. I can be found on Facebook under the name of Marie Sheehan in Chicago. I would like to know how Christa is doing.

You know, I don't know much of anything at all besides his name, the fact that his family was Neapolitan, and that he had entered the study for the priesthood in New Jersey. Apparently, he was terrorized/abused by an older priest, and left the Church and New Jersey. He came all the way to California, and changed his name. He was my paternal grandfather. Getting that much was far worse than pulling teeth; none of us found this out until his eldest son died, leaving some papers behind. Can't even find his death certificate, as he died in a monastery which has no record of him. Don't know how to try & find out more.

Margaret,
Just tried to send you a note, that I'm not sure was sent. Not to duplicate notes, suffice it to say, I am related to Nicola Caprio's wife Raffaela Meola, and would like to confirm if Nicola had a sister Rosa Maria Nicola(who also married a Meola), and a brother Salvatore, and lived on Lock St. If so, I am more closely related to him via the Caprio path than the Meola path.
Hi Steve,

It's nice to hear from you. The reason I
know about the Italy side of the family is that
I have been doing genealogy for about 6 years.
I just finished a book on my father's side of
family (DiCrescenzo) in January and now I am
working on my mother's side of the family (Caprio).
My grandfather came to the US in 1898 and spent
about a year in Waterbury, CT with his uncle
Alfonso Caprio and his family. I just found
ancestors of Alfonso some of who are still
living in Waterbury, CT., other cousins live
in NY state and Rhode Island. Anyway, after
my grandfather spent a year in CT he moved to
NJ. That is where my mother was born and that
is where I was born. We still live in NJ. My
mom is 82 years old and is doing very well.
I live about 7 miles from her. I would like
to do this book on her Caprio family for her.
The last few months I have been busy with
other family things, but now I hope to spend
a lot of time on this project.

I know there are Caprio's from other parts
of Italy, but from my research it seems the
majority of them are from the Campania Region
of italy - around Naples.

If you discover any new information, please
let me know.

Keep in touch,

Carol

Hi Jim; I came across your entry and found it interesting. I am searching for a friend who is looking for information on a Nunzio and Anna Caruso Simone family. Nunzio b. about 1874 in Avellino Italy. It is believed that Nunzio's parents were Servio Simone and Felicia Simone also from Avellino Italy. Nunzio immigrated to the NY area in 1894, ast the age of 20, on the ship Compania. He married and had 7 children in Peekskill Ny. All 7 children were placed in the St. Joseph Children's home after the death of their mother about 1922. Joseph the youngest was adopted by the Burchetta family from Peekskill Ny. Does this possibly match anything you know about the Simone family you search for? Thank you, Alice Fookes-Radcliff
