Clara Cardinal d/o George Cardinal of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan

For those looking for Clara Cardinal daughter of Gearge & Delina Courville. Clara is buried at St Francis Xavier Cemetery in Ecorse, Wayne, Michigan in an unmarked grave and no location of the grave. I've worked on a data base for the cemetery for three years. I stumbled upon her death when doing my research and thought i'd post this because i don't think anyone would ever be able to find Clara's final resting place. She married a Victor St Arno but was buried out of St Francis Xavier under Clara Cardinal. I found the funeral in the church records on micro-film. She died 28 Sep 1930 at the age of 30. Can always write me direct at dalerenaud@wowway.com

I have been seeing this stuff for a couple years now, and the site you cite. What is the proof? Genealogy depends on proof, and a website is not proof. When you get real proof, repost, otherwise stop putting this stuff on the web as if it is fact.

As a direct descendant of Francois & Marie, I have joined La Societe des filles du roi et soldats du Carignan, Inc. You all would probably enjoy their web site fillesduroi.org. If you're interested in joining, my documentation is on file so you would only have to document your line back to our common ancestor. My line is Jean LeRoux & Jeanne LeBlanc, Francois, Ignace, Louis Charles, Jean Louis, Louis, Louis & Emilie Drolet (2nd Marriage), Joseph Cyprien & Marie Therese (Selina) Migneault Provencher, Deodat (Theodore) Cardinal, Marie Eva Cardinal & Herbert Lowell Hamer, and my parents, Clementine Hamer & John Langan.

Not to worry. I didn't have a problem with your question.

Did you have any ancestry info you wanted to share? Or any questions?

I have been reading everything I can about The Carignan Saliere regiment and the soldiers that stayed to settle in New France. Every year I know just a little bit more and add it to Francois and Marie's profiles. I hope we can find out where exactly he settled first.

I visited Bourg Royale and took a picture of the street named after Francois. (Rue Leroux). I loved being there.

Take care and happy researching.
Rebecca Cardinal

Michel Michael Cardinal married Felicite Proteau

Michel's aon ~ Cyril M. Cardinal m. Marguerite Belanger
May 8, 1885 in Canada. Cyril M. was a Teamster. Both Cyrl M. and Marguerite moved to the US: 1896. Cyril M. died at Brightlook Hospital, St. Johnsbury, VT

Margerite: b. March 15, 1865; d. September 23, 1939, in Keene, VT

Cyril M.'s son ~ Cyril A. Cardinal m. Alma Katherine LaLiberte ~ together having 13 children (11 of which survived - my mother, one of them).

Cyril A. Cardinal, my maternal Grandfather died prematurely, sadly, at the age of 54, in a horrible car accident East of Ryegate, VT, September 8, 1937, later transported to Cottage Hospital, Haverhill, Woodsville, NH.

Two trucks carrying amusement park equipment were parked along the side of the road changing a tire, when Cyril A., riding as a passenger in a Texaco Construction truck collided into the back of the 2 parked, amusement equipment trucks. The impact caused the amusement equipment to crash through the front windshild, into the passenger side, at head level, hitting Cyril A.

The driver of the Texaco truck panicked and fled the scene, leaving Cyril lying on the side of the road critically injured. The driver was found the next day in St. Johnsbury by police, and was to be arraigned on careless and negligent driving resulting in a death.

Alma K. Cardinal b. 1889; d.

Hi, Cyril Cardinal is my paternal great-grandfather. I am still doing research on that side of my family, and need to verify some of the information. But, I will share with you what I have, in hopes you find in helpful.
Cyril Albert Cardinal, born 1883, Quebec, Canada.
He died Sept. 8, 1937.
Married April 19, 1909, Alma Katherine LaLiberte. She was born in 1888, St. Johnsbury, VT., and died in 1955. They are both buried at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, in St. Johnsbury, VT. I have pictures of their headstone and foot stones, if you'd like me to send them to you by email.
Buried with them are his parents, Cyril M. Cardinal, born March 19, 1855, died Apr. 15, 1926...and Marguerite K. [Belanger] , born 1864, died 1939. The headstone also lists two children, Wilfred J., born 1902, died 1971...and Malina M., born 1905. (no death date shown)
I don't have death certificates for them, so I don't know the cause of death for Cyril. I'd appreciate having the opportunity to correspond with you more about the family.

Hello all;
I checked a few french books and french sites and I have the following information:
Simon Cardinal (Cardinault)born in Maran around 1619. In 1652 he weds Michelle Garnier who will give him 7 children of which is Jacques, born in Marans in 1654 and Jean born in Marans around 1658.

Simon Cardinal signed a contract, in La Rochelle, with the notary Demontreau, in order to come to Nouvelle-France, the 5th june 1659.

The Cardinal family arrives in Nouvelle-France in 1659 on the boat "le Saint-André" which came from La Rochelle. After a period of 3 years as a Montreal employee, Simon Cardinal receives in 1662, a concession on the Sulpiciens domain.

Its in Montréal that 5 more children will be born: Gabriel, Étienne, Pierre, Simon et Cécile.
In 1667, Simon Cardinal resides on rivière Saint-Pierre and at that time owns 4 (betes) cows?? and 8 acres of cultured land.

In 1675, he purchases land in Lachine where he lives the remainder of his life. Simon Cardinal dies in Lachine on 9 août 1679 at the age of 60.

In 1680, his widow marries Jean Chevalier in Lachine. Simon Cardinal is the ancester of the great majority of the Cardinal in the Montréal region.
Archange Godbout wrote a biographique notice of Simon Cardinal in "Les passagers du Saint-André", published by la Société généalogique canadienne-française en 1964.
My maiden name is Cardinal and a member of my family tracked the line several years ago. They found that the name was changed from Cardinault. This might help your search. They did fine a Joseph Narcisse Cardinal, father of Simon Jean, born about 1570 in LaRocelle, Charent-Maritime, France. He died about 1618. Hope this helps. Jeanne

I’ve found a portrait of Nannie Jane Coons, born 1851 in Ohio and died 1929 in Iowa, married first to J Henry Cardinal born 1835 in Germany and died 1895 in Iowa, then to Zachariah “Zack” Elliott born 1850 in Canada and died 1916 in Iowa. Her step-daughter Elizabeth “Lizzie” M Cardinal, born 1867 in Illinois and died 1935 in Iowa, married to Charles Poorman, born 1862 in Illinois died 1931 in Iowa. My subject, Harold Donavan Mead, was born1903 in Iowa and died 1982 in South Dakota. He has labeled this portrait “Grandmother Cardinal” but there are two women pictured. I’m wondering if the additional woman pictured may be Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Cardinal) Poorman. Is anyone else studying these lines?
You can view them on ancestry.ca or I can email.

I read The Good Regiment. Very interesting. Although La Fouille Co. is barely mentioned it does give a few clues as to what Francois might have done. Am happy to discuss with anyone interested.
