I just found your Cardwell family tree (Cardwell Line 1). My husband, Larry Thomas, is related to Caroline E Cardwell and Henry J Sager (his great grandparents). On your tree your have their children listed. However, one of their children not listed was Nellie Caroline Sager (his grandmother)- b July 15, 1884 in Florence, KS and died Feb 7, 1928 in St Joseph, MO. I got this information from a copy of her MO Certificate of Death. She is buried at Mt Auburn Cemetery in St Joseph, MO. Caroline Cardwell Sager and her brother, William H Sager are also buried at Mt Auburn. I have pictures of all three gravestones. This is my first experience finding family on ancestry.com. I hope that I have given you information that is helpful to you. Should you want copies of any pictures or Death Certificates, or Nellie's marriage certificate, let me know. Thank you for your hard work on this family tree.

Jim Cardwell, in military in WA stste in 1947

I have photo of who I believe to be a Jim or James Cardwell who served in the military in Washington state in 1947. He was to be discharged in 1949. I would guess he was based at Fort Lewis, but can't confirm that. In the photo, he and my mother, Margaret, were leaning on a 1940's automobile. If anyone knows this person, I'd be glad to send the photo.

I am helping a friend research her CARDWELL line. Sisters Josephine and Margaret CARDWELL came to the USA from Co. Tyrone, Ireland in 1910. Their destination was Dumbarton Farm, Rogers Forge. We have no clue as to why they came. Perhaps your info on the connection can help. Josephine & Margaret were the daughters of William James CARDWELL (born circa 1860) of Coalisland, County Tyrone, Ireland. Josephine married William Ed. WHITE.
Ann the Librarian

Hi Peter,
I had been looking for my niece Megan's family tree on the site, and a Smout cousin had the information I needed. I found out a week or so ago that Megan's username was Skism. The reason Skism didn't respond to your post is that she died of cervical cancer at 22, 5 years ago. I had read her posts without working out it was her!
I haven't added much lately, but am still fossicking.
Regards,
Mary.

Greetings Mary,
I've sent you an invite to my Ancestry family tree Day-Meehan 2, so you can see what I have in the Cardwell line. How much do you have on our very interesting ancestor Thomas Andrew Cardwell? Some relatives in England, as well as myself, have been quite surprised when his 'colourful' background was revealed .
Peter Day

Hi Peter,
I remember Grandma talking about Quentin and his wife Judy, when he was elderly and unwell. I'm off to work, but I'd also love to share info. Dad did quite a lot before the Alzheimer's hit, and my niece Megan also worked on the history before she died.
Talk to you later!
Regards,
Mary.

Greetings Mary,
Thank you for replying to the message sent. Vanda Grace Cardwell had a brother, Quentin Charles Cardwell. Quentin was my grandfather. He had a daughter Marguerite Cardwell (my mother). My mother used to call your father Donny and I once spoke to your father over the phone in the 1990's concerning the birth certificate of my grandfather Quentin Cardwell.
In the first three years of my life I lived in Benambra St Preston and I remember looking through a gap in the fence and seeing a little girl about my age. A few years back I asked my mother who that girl was and she said it was Barbara your sister( you can correct me if I'm wrong).
I would love to share info. with you and I'm sure my mother would love to hear about it. Thank you very much for the info. you have given me. My mother is the last surviving child of Quentin. My mother and brother now live in NSW, the rest of us live in Melbourne.
My mother married Kenneth Ivan Day(my father, who died in 1979) and had 3 children Peter(me),Bruce and Karen. We all married and my brother is divorced. I have 2 children--Anne and John. Bruce has 2 children---Simon and Christopher. Karen has 2 children Kerry and David Williams.
Peter Day

Hello,

Elizabeth Cargill Robertson was my father's maternal grandmother. She came to Australia and met and married Mr Cardwell in Sydney. They had a number of children who included three daughters, Winifred, Vanda, and Nida. Vanda Grace Cardwell, born in 1900, was my paternal grandmother, who married Sydney Phillip Smout. They lived in Preston, a suburb of Melbourne, and had three children, my father Donald James Smout, Grace Lillian, and Olive, who died at birth. Donald married Grace Mary Smout (yes - Smout too!)of Dookie in country Victoria. Don and Grace Mary, my parents, were BOTH born on 15th March 1926. I am one of six children, five surviving. Barbara Anne (now Dunque), John Anthony (who died shortly after birth), Susan Joy (now Davis), myself - Mary Elizabeth (now Antonello), Claire Lynette (now Lang), and Andrew Donald. We are all married. Susan has a son, Adam, and lost her daughter Megan almost 5 years ago. I married Mario Paul Antonello 29 years ago, and have three sons - Matthew James, Christopher Thomas, and Robert Michael. Claire has one son, Dylan Plant, from her first marriage.

I was idly googling the name Cargill Robertson, as I recently saw a death notice for a William Cargill Robertson of Sydney. I was vaguely wondering if he was related to Great-Granny Cardwell, as the name combination is so unusual. Your message showed up in the search!

Dad Donald James Smout)was researching the family tree, and died three years ago of Alzheimer's disease. I have been given the task of continuing the job.

Dad's sister Grace Lillian married Alwyn Summerton, and they had three children - Trevor, Denise (now Carbis), and Brenda (now Cortese). They all have children, and live in suburbs of Melbourne or country Victoria. Auntie Grace also died of Alzheimer's some years ago.

Re: ROY CARDWELL, TEXAS

John,

Nice to hear about Roy no matter how long it takes.
How does any of my information fit with your Roy?

My grandmother Anna Hagelsieb married Roy 'E.' CArdwell in Weatherford, Parker county TX in 1909. In the 1910 census they are living with her mother, my ggrandmother, Jesse Hagelsieb in El Paso. Anna wrote in her notes that they seperated in San FRancisco, Ca in 1913 and not many years later I find a Roy Cardwell marrying a DAisy Shannon I think in New Mexico. Other notes tell us that he worked as a freighter for a Mr. Manning's company, probably in El Paso.

Does any of this ring any bells for you? Do we have more than one Roy? I did also find a Roy in the SSdeath index dieing in Ca.

Let meknow......thanks, Lynn Lowrie
