Responding to an old Post. But Miguel and Juanita Carrasco are my grandparents. So i we are related. They had 2 Sons, Miguel Angel and Victor(My 2 uncles) and my 2 Duaghters- Socorro(my Mom but the family knows her as Choco) and Normita. My Mom passed away in 99 and my Papi Miguel about a year after her followed my Grandma a few months after him. So that's as much info as I have on my Grandpa's Family.

Hi Penny,
I just chanced upon this thread. I'm also looking for our ancestry. I came from Laguna, Philippines but migrated to Canada now. I know from my grandpa that they came from Pasig or Pateros.

We could be related but I know there are lots of Carrascos around the Philippines. What I'm trying to find out is where our ancestor came from. It would be the truth that the first Carrasco came in to the Philippines by boat. When back in time, we don't know. He could be a soldier in Magellan's army.

Email me at pandayboss@yahoo.com if you want to talk more of our ancestry. I'm still searching online at this time.

Dario Carrasco Jr.
http://www.pandaystudio.com
Yes, Sharter still does exist. Regarding the Tarahumara-Apache mix, it is pretty rear. It would have been even more rare in Presidio County, as there were no Tarahumaras until modern times. The Apache mixes took place with the local Indian stock, Julimes, Jumanos, Sumas, and Cholomes.
BTW, the some Carrascos were Julimes, as I have ancestors in this group.
The Ornelas, were another story. They were/are Lipan Apaches. Look at the 1889 census of Presidio County and find them.
I'm looking for information on Priciliano Carrasco, my great grandfather. All I know is that he is from Chihuahua. He fought along side Pancho Villa and his picture appears in the old Mexican revolution pictures. My grandfather stories are that my great grandfather used to engineer the stolen trains. My great grandmother was Monica Duron. We do not know if my great grandfather had any brothers or sisters. It would be great if anyone can provide information.

My grandfathers siblings:
Raul Carrasco
Maria del Refugio (Cuca) Carrasco
Luis Carrasco
Antonio Carrasco
Santos Carrasco
Ramon Carrasco

Attached is the picture that my grand father claimed was his father.

According to my father, Cesar Carrasco, my grandfather never mentioned anything about any uncles or cousins. My great grandmother's name was Monica Carrasco. Her maiden name was Duron. My great grandparents were from Chihuahua, Chihuahua--I believe. My great grandfather Priciliano fought along side Pancho Villa and his picture shows up in those old revolution pictures. My father's mustache is red like copper wires.

My Grandfather siblings were:
Raul Carrasco
Maria del Refugio (Cuca) Carrasco
Luis Carrasco
Antonio Carrasco
Santos Carrasco
Ramon Carrasco

Could your Tio be my great grandfather?

Cesar

Claudio, my grandmother is Paula Carrasco (maiden Salazar) from Ojinaga. She married my grandfather, Gregorio Uranga and settled in Alpine where my mother and all of her brothers and sisters were born.

Perhaps there's a connection, maybe you can check my family tree, it's public...I'd love to know if we're related somehow :)

Thanks for your time,

Val

I'm pretty sure that Jesus' family ended up in the Odessa, TX area and that my Tia Pancha married Juan Ornelas and settled in Presidio, TX.

My grandmother married Gregorio Uranga and settled in Alpine, TX where my mother was born...this is all so long ago, my mother is in her seventies now.

Just wondering if these Carrascos are related to any of you guys :) Thanks for your time!

Hi! My mother, Ermelinda maiden named Carrasco, would have been 90 this past November. She was born in El Paso Texas. Her parents, Jose Benito & Maria...can't remember her maiden name, lived in El Paso and raised their family, moving sometime to Southern California & back to Texas. My grandmother had a small restaurant or diner in El Paso according to my mother. Mt grandfather died young. I do have his original Hunting License issued in Texas, which I was really surprised they issued back then. There is nobody in our family that has any knowledge of any relatives in Mexico at all....which is really strange.....we have NOBODY to say we are related to, to even claim to be Mexican. At least that's what I always thought as a child! Everybody started and ended in Texas, went into Southern California.....and that's it as far as I know...then eventually everybody started to spread out. I know Texas was part of Mexico...it's just strange we have lost contact with the rest of our family. I remember a name my mother mentioned that was maybe her aunt, Scholastica, there are more, my sister lives in my mother's house, but I have some pictures, but alot of the names are in her house, if I can manage to get to them, I will pass them on.

Hi, I think many of the Carrasco's in and around the area south of Chihuahua City are related. I have a second cousin, Maria Elena Arrieta Carrasco whose husband and his brother own a large ranch in Ojinaga. They live in Delicias, but he commutes (flies) to the ranch in Ojinaga. Ojinaga, Mexico is close to Presidio, Marfa, and Alpine, Texas which is about 3 hours driving time from El Paso. Several Carrasco families still live in this area including Balmorhea, Tx.

Thanks for the reply! My mother told me that she and her siblings were renamed after previous babies/children that had passed away before them. There were some that died at a very young age & she remembered having to bury small pre-term babies her mother miscarried as a small girl, most were fully developed and were very beautiful she said. But what an awful thing she had to go through as a child back then being the eldest daughter. So from what I know, my grandmother had many children also. Apparently my grandmother was busy running a restaurant and left my mother to take care of the kids and household.

The Carrasco forefathers were very fertile and had large families. My uncles had ten or more children each. We always figured that the El Paso Carrascos were related since they came from the same areas of Chihuahua and had some resemblance to each other. Therefore we may be related.

My cousin is Joe, I believe he was/is a teacher/coach there in El Paso and his father "Tacho" Epitacio is my uncle, now deceased. he was my mother's brother....and yes he did own a feed store, so that is the correct family! My aunt Alice, Tacho's youngest sister and the oly surving sibling is married to Fred Evans and they now live in Nevada, just outside of Las Vegas. When they left El Paso years ago, they moved to Oxnard, California.....where a good portion of the Carasco's moved to. Funny though, we have nobody in the family that has any knowlede of any relatives in Mexico! I never really knew my grandparents, both prandfathers were deceased before I was born, my maternal grandmother I probably only met 3 times as a very young child. My paternal grandmother I saw more of since she lived close by, but she was by no means a "grandama" type personality. She passed away when I was probably 8-9 years old. So here I am trying to piece together at least my mother's side together, since I know more info on it. My mom always told me stories of her childhood and as she got older, they got more repetitive of course.
I appreciate your info.....it was right on!!!! It's funny, my mom use to tell me when she would go to the hospital to have us babies, the doctor would ask her nationality, she would say, MEXICAN, my mom did not have an accent, she spoke spanish...but very broken....lots of english thrown in there.....when she told him that he exclaimed "NO, YOUR GERMAN", she would always have to argue that point, because she was so very fair complected. This was a long time ago, my oldest sibling would be about 70-71 years old right now if he were alive. I'm 53!
Anyway....Thank you so much! I hope to keep in touch, and I will pass on the info to my aunt Alice.
Oh, btw, so are we related somehow? :)

In response to your query, the Carrasco families in Socorro are still there. I have met one of your uncles, named Joe Carrasco. His Dad was Tacho (maybe Epitacio) Carrasco. They owned a animal feed supply business. I think Alicia married Fred Evans who I went to school with at Ysleta High. There were about five Carrasco families in the El Paso area located in Socorro, Canutillo, Ysleta, Sunset Heights area, and Concepcion area. The families generally came from communities (Saucillo, Julimes, Las Varas, Delicias, and Santa Gertrudes- Army camp) around south of Chihuahua City. The Canutillo and Sunset Heights families came from Spain by way of Julimes. The Ysleta and Concepcion families came from Spain by way of Saucillo and Delicias. Tiburcio Carrasco was one of the founders of Saucillo. Chale Carrasco was a mayor of Saucillo, and his son, Chale Jr. was the mayor of Delicias. I do not know which of the communities the Socorro family came from, but it was probably one of the above. The Carrasco's are generally tall gueros with blue, green, or light brown eyes. The women are very pretty and tall. No hay muchas feas. The Sunset Heights Carrascos (4) were over six ft. four in. tall and played basketball for the local university. My uncles were 6'6" (300lbs.)and 6'3"(275lbs.) My Dad was short at 6'(215lbs.) My sons are 6'4 and 6'2. My daughter is 5'10" like you and blonde. There is another Carrasco family in Balmorhea, Texas which is pretty prominent there. My cousins in Delicias who are bankers tell me that the original Carrasco came from either Salamanca or Andalucia to Chihuahua on or about 1580. I need to meet with them to document the full story. Most of the Carrascos migrated to the El Paso area between 1910 and 1920 during the revolution, even though Col. Manuel Carrasco of the Spanish Army in Chihuahua found the Santa Rita Copper Mine outside Silver City, New Mexico which is about 100 miles from El Paso sometime before the 1800s. You have a good strong heritage through your mother which should give you pride and confidence in your background to pass on to your children. May God Bless You mightily, Ray.

Hello! My mother was Ermelinda Carrasco Lara, now deceased. She was born in El Paso, Texas. Her father was Benito Carrasco and her mother was Maria, maiden name I don't recall. Ysleta, Texas I do recall my mother talking about. Also, they lived in an area called Socorro, maybe an area of El Paso? The Carrasco's in my family tend to be very tall, I'm 5'10" and a woman. They were all very light complected, fair haired and blue/green eyes. My mom was a platinum blonde with green eyes. Per my great uncle, my mom's uncle, who passed away not long ago, we were Cherokee also. My grandmother Maria had a restaurant where they lived. My grandfather Benito died at an early age, he was shot in the head and died some time later. I do have his actual Hunting Permit from Texas dated some time in the 1930's. The family moved to Southern California, East Los Angeles and Oxnard. There is still plenty of family there. I only have 1 surviving sibling of my mother, an aunt named Alicia (Carrasco) Evans. The other siblings were Ernesto, Epitacio, Lucila & Rudolfo. Epitacio & Rudolfo's family remained in El Paso though some have moved away. I do recall my mother saying that some of her family members especially the males, looked more european, German she said. Tall and blonde with striking blue eyes.
So....that's what I know of my family. To this day, none of my family has ever met or heard of another family member in Mexico or anywhere else! They all seemed to just originate from the El Paso area, though I know that was once Mexico, we have no family there. That's as far as I can get.

We might be related. My Grandma was Carlota Carrasco. Her parents were Albino Carrasco and Gabriela Calderon. My dad's siblings live in Midland. My dad was born in Bado de Piedra, Chihuahua. We are having a Carrasco family reunion in Odessa this September.
