Phillippe Carrier and Bernadette Daigle

I'm hoping to connect with some first cousins. I've only recently become aware of our connection.
Phillippe and Bernadette married 17 Jan 1922 in Rovertsonville, PQ, Canada. They moved to Lewiston, Maine.
The four children I know of are Rita Carrier (married to Lucien Doucette), Gilberte Carrier (married to Clarence Perreault), Robert Carrier (married to Helene Brown), and Madeleine (no known marriage.)
Sadly, I don't have any information on the children for these couples. Any help in getting connected with them is appreciated. Paul, Biddeford, Maine.

Since we are related, I'd love to share whatever clues could help. Yet, I do see you made this post a bunch of years ago (Feb 2003) and its now Jan 2012, so maybe you've discovered more too. I'd love to connect! I don't know if this message will even get to you, but it's worth a shot.

Yes sorry, Martha Allen Carrier. I am researching the Currier Family and came across a marriage of Thomas Currier and Martha Allen 1664. The hints I receive have Martha Allen as the woman from Salem. I do not believe she is the Martha Allen married to Thomas Currier.
I am trying to find someone that can verify this for me, so I am not going down the wrong path.

I have done the same thing as far as educated guesses and attempting to fill in the blanks. How I came to the John Amos connection was location, dates, and the fact that John Amos's son and grandson both had the middle name Dudley. The second wife theory would make sense. Jane was a bit young when John was born, around 15 or so. I will research the Charity Carrier link.

I have Jane Eliza, Elizabeth, Jane, William and George (per 1850 census). Since records prior the 1850 census are hard to come by some of the information I have is merely a guess or attempt to connect pieces from things I have found online. For instance, I have found records of land transfer between a Dudley and Charity Carrier to L. Shults in 1829 and then a cemetery record for Charity Carrier wife of Dudly in 1841. Was Jane then his 2nd wife? Not sure. It might explain the gap in ages of the children and duplicate names (2 Janes?) I have Dudley in NY in 1850 and then Michigan in 1860, 1870 and a death record in Michigan for 1876. I have a death record for Jane in Michigan in 1887.

Thanks. I descend from John Hugh Carrier (b abt 1830)who was living in Galena, IL in the 1850s and moved to St Paul, MN between 1860-1862. My gr grandmother is his daughter Katherine Carrier b 1862. John Hugh Carrier has a link back to Ogdensburg, NY, possible birthplace, but my wall is in Galena as to his parents and where he was before Galena. I try to track other MN bound Carriers to St Paul for possible links.

From what I have found Dudley and Jane had another son, John Amos Carrier (1826-1909), another of my grandfathers. Do you know this to be correct? There is little known in the family before John Amos but I have made this tentative connection. I have photocopies of Dudley Carrier's 1850 and 1870s census records.

BD Carrier moved to Minnesota and had a son Albert Carrier that lived in Hennepin County Minnesota in the 1920s. He had a son named Gerald Carrier born in 1929. Gerald had a son named Jerry Carrier born in 1948. Albert Carrier's family, as well as three of his four adult children moved out to California in the 1950s. He had a fourth son that was killed in WWII. Gerald, Albert's son, moved back to MN in 1965 with Jerry and and his other five children, all girls. Jerry's family moved to the Eau Claire area in the 1970s but has lived in Minnesota, first the northern Minneapolis suburbs, and now the southern, for the last 25 years. Gerald lived in the western wisconsin area until the early 1990s. One of his daughters still lives in Madison, Wisconsin. I am Jerry Carrier's youngest son.

I have Wisconsin Carriers in my line. John Amos Carrier (1826) was from De Witt, NY but moved to Milwaukee, WI sometime around 1850 and served in the Union Army during the Civil War. He had a son Albert Dudley (Burt/Bert/BD) Carrier (1862). From there the Carriers moved to California, Florida and Minnesota.

Re: Amariah Carrier, Honor Hogins

Hi Again Lynda, The letter you mention was actually written by S. S. Carrier the son of Jesse. This was my error in one of the posts a couple of years ago. Also I believe it was the Hogans that were buried on the west side of the lake.

The last record I have for Amariah is 1850 Busti, Chautauqua County, New York, Amariah age 74 born ca 1776 NY and wife Jerusha age 70, (Ancestry p. 46.) He was living between his two children.

The burial you found is quite possibly for his son who stayed in the area after moving back from Michigan. I have that he died between 1870-1880. Then I find his wife Hannah in 1880 a widow...see below. I was never able to locate a death place or date for Amariah but believe it was before 1860. He had children living in several states so he could have died anywhere.

I am leaning hard on the theory that he was the grandson of Amos and Phebe Carrier, a child of their son Amos, who probably died in the war, but I have not been able to prove this with primary documentation, only by ruling out other family members who could have had a son this age.

***
1860 Federal Census, Kiantone, Chautauqua County, New York:Name: Aariah Carrier (spelled Amariah on census)
Age in 1860: 48; Birth Year: abt 1812; Birthplace: New York; Home in 1860: Kiantone, Chautauqua, New York; Gender: Male; Post Office: Kiantone; Aariah Carrier 48 (spelled Amariah on census) NY:Hannah Carrier 42 NY; Hellen A Hill 16 domestic NY
Ainga Carrion 5.12 (spelled Alonzo Carrier) NY:Byron Aylsworth 23 day laborer NY,
Ellen Hill 21 NY
***
1870 United States Federal Census Ellicott, Chautauqua, New York; Name: Amand Carrier; Estimated Birth Year: abt 1814; Age in 1870: 56; Birthplace: New York; Home in 1870: Ellicott, Chautauqua, New York;Post Office: Jamestown
Household Members: Name Age; Amand Carrier 56 (actually spelled Amarrah)
Hannah Carrier 51

**
His wife Hannah is listed as a widow in the 1880 census.
1880 United States Federal Census; Name: Hannah Carrier
Home in 1880: Jamestown, Chautauqua, New York; Age: 61
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1819; Birthplace: New York
Relation to Head of Household: Self (Head); Father's birthplace: Massachusetts
Mother's birthplace: New York; Occupation: Wash Woman;Marital Status: Widowed;Race: White;Gender: Female;Hannah Carrier 61 washwoman, widow, NY
Robert L.
I just started up my searches again and found the oddest thing. According the "Jesse Carrier" letter Amariah was buried on the west side of the Chaq. lake. I just looked at Lakeview Cemetery in Jamestown, west of the lake, and they have a A. Mariah Carrier. The death date is off at 4-18-1879 but it also said he was in "potters field" which means the info could be mixed up, hense the name mix up. Do you know anyone who can go to check this lead?
