Hi Jason,
All I know about my g-grandmother, Maria Cleofas Casares, was that she and Feliciano Cervantes were the parents of my grandfather, Carlos Cervantes, born 15 Nov 1889, in Zac., Zac. According to the birth record filed by Feliciano, Carlos was his "hijo natural." So it is quite possible that Cleofas Casares went on to marry someone else.

It's interesting that she emigrated to the U.S. in 1913. That is the same year that my grandparents, Carlos Cervantes
aka Casares and Maria Quintero gave birth to my father, also named Carlos Cervantes, in Coahuila, during the Revolution. My grandfather fought along side Pancho Villa
and was killed in the fighting in 1916.

I do have a Lozano connection: Cecilio Lozano married Anastasia Quintero, the sister of my g-grandfather, Pascual Quintero, in 1878 in Guadalupe, Zac.

Do you have any other info on Cleofas Padilla (nee Casares)?

Hello Robert: As you can see I am also a Garza and all my family on my dads side came from Bustamante. I see that you are asking about Casares from Bustamante, well on my dads side of the family I have run across this name twice. I have a Francisca DeLuna married to a Jose Antonio Silvero Casares. I don't have a marriage date for them but I do know that she was born in 1772. Then I have a Maria Jacinta Gonzales married to Pedro Casares again no marriage date but she was born in 1831 both in Bustamante. Hope this will help you, if not, well it was worth a try. I'm looking for info on the CASARES families who lived in Corpus Christi and Houston TX....I don't know where they came from before living in Corpus Christi....

Enrique CASARES(b.abt1930/d.1993Houston,Harris,TX)m.1951(Corpus Christi, Nueces, TX) Consuelo Perez(b.1926 Mercedes,Hidalgo,TX/d.1996 Corpus Christi, Nueces, TX)

Children: Elena(b.1952) and Ruby(b.1956)

They did spend several years in Chicago, Cook, IL....I don't know what year Enrique and Consuelo divorced but Enrique m.1980(Houston,Harris,TX) Elva C. Gomez....they lived in Houston....Enrique had a brother Guadalupe CASARES and a sister Modesta CASARES....possibly other siblings/children with second wife....there is possibly a wife between these two....Enrique was said to visit Matamoros, Tampaulipas, MX often, so it is possible this is where he was born/there are other family members....any leads would be greatly appreciated....

I am looking for descendants/ancestors of this family from San Luis Potosi and/or Coahuila. My grandfather was Jose Maria Lopez (1903-1963). His father was Jose Maria Lopez Puente who was married to Maria de la Luz Cazares Cortez. My g-g-grandfather was Valentin Lopez and he married Blasa Puente. My grandfather Jose Maria Lopez Cazares had 5 or 6 brothers and 3 sisters, some of whom settled in Mexico City. My grandfather married Maria Davila Hernandez (my grandmother) of S.L.P. I would be grateful for any leads or conncections.

Maybe we have family links! My ggrandmother was named Cleofas Padilla the wife of Candelario (Lozano) Padilla. She migrated to Texas from Zacatecas around 1913. She had a sister who she lost contact with. My mother can remember stories from her grandmother Cleofas about the Casares' but was a mystery to my Mom. If Gonzalez, Texas or San Antonio, Texas or maybe even Padilla ring a bell from your ggrandmothers stories please email me at Zuljay92@netscape.net.
