My father was given to a family by the name of Rivera. A few years ago he was contacted by his "true" family by the name Hernandez. They mentioned his father was a Don Cayetano. This happened in Jimenez, chihuahua. This Hernandez family lives now in El Paso or Juarez. My father was raised by his adopted family in parral, chihuahua.
There was mention that there is some Munoz in the family nowadays. All I got are tid bits, however, the Hernandez family said that there was a daughter that was given away too. Maybe, maybe, maybe thats where you come in.

Greetings.

I'm looking for Casas from Villa de Lopez, Chihuahua, and possibly nearby Jimenez, Chihuahua.

My grandfather was Melesio Rodriguez Casas
son of Melesio Armendariz Casas
son of Cayetano Casas.

There seems to be much documentation of Casas in South Texas and Nuevo Leon, etc. As far as I can tell, these Casas were in Chihuahua at least into the mid-1800s then moved north to Ciudad Juarez and ultimately El Paso, Texas.

Any info or clues would be helpful. Thank you.

Veronica,

You don't say where your family is from. You don't say when your parents were born either. You should start with what you know nd use documents like death certificates (especially of grandparents) and birth certificates of parents or baptismal records from churches. See www.hispanidgen.org and link there for Mexico Research Group.

Esther

I believe that SAGA (Spanish American Genealogical Association) extracted church records for Montemorelos.
Only trouble is the SAGA board is off line right now. I tried to go the board to verify my information and the board was gone. You might be able to get the books through interlibrary loan through your local library.

Good Luck!
