Hi,

I'm looking for any information on my great grandparents, Vincent Castello and Nancy Mineo Castello. They were born in italy and came over to U.S. in early 1900's. I'm told that they died in 1917 or 1918 from influenza (spanish flu). They had 3 children, Salvatore, Pauline (my grandmother) and Dorothy and may have lived in Brooklyn, NY. The children were split up after the death of their parents and my grandmother was raised by another family. I would appreciate any informaiton.
Reginald Castello born about 1883

I'm researching my late father's family and have hit a wall. He always told us our background on his side was Spanish. My father's name was Lloyd Reginald Castello, his sister was Gloria Castello. Their parents were Reginald Castello and Lillian Maud Crawford, married Sept. 20, 1916. They were from Jamaica, but my father and aunt were born in Toronto (York), Ontario, Canada. Reginald's parents were John Castello and Elizabeth Desouza and Lillian's parents were John Crawford and Lucy Carpenter. After that, I can find nothing at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

James Castello/Castellucci

Helping a friend-I'm looking for information on James Castello (or his parents), born in Carroville Italy on 10-18-1905 as James Castellucci. His parents are Mario and Camillo Castellucci, and his known siblings are Louise Castello(married to Sam Corbi) and Carl Castello. The surname was most likely changed during immigration. He was issued an SS# in Connecticut, and he later moved to Alliance, OH in 1921; died there in 1975. James was married twice, first to Rhea, later to Eva. He and Rhea had three children: Betty, Richard James, and Ronald D. Hope someone can help us!

HELP....
Can anyone settle my argument...I have traced my family back to Ireland where William Castello was born abt 1808. I cannot find anything abt his Marriage but found his first Sons Bap Record in Co Cavan but the name in the Record is Edward Thomas Costello born 1842. All census Records and BMD Certificates i have in the UK all state Castello. Some family did change to Costello but getting to the point now, I say we decend from Spain but others say Italy? Its frustrating not knowing. Also impossible to find old records in Ireland. Charles Castello Emigrated to Clinton Union Falls New York in 1875 with Wife Esther, they had 2 Sons Louis and George. If anyone out there has info i would be pleased to share what i have.

Perhaps I have a link for you. My Castellos were very prominent in Florissant, Missouri, which is a suburb of St. Louis. I have loads of information about the family.....my great-great-grandmother was Mary Castello. She was born in Wyoming Valley PA ca. 1818.

Mary traces back to Michael Castello, who was born in Ireland, and he traces back to James Castello, who came to Ireland from Spain in the 1700s.

Somewhere in my files I have many pages of info about the Castellos. I would be happy to copy them and send them to you.

I know your posting is years ago, maybe you are still interested.

My ancestor was James Castello who fled as a refugee to Ireland from Spain in the 1700s. His son, Michael was born in Ireland and migrated to America settling first in Pennsylvania then in 1820 settling in Florissant Missouri. The Castellos became very prominent in Florissant and one branch of them went west and founded Florissant Colorado.

I have not been studying Castello history for about 8 years but somewhere in my file (I think) is is the name of the village south of Barcelona.

My great-great grandmother, Mary Castello, was Michael's grandaughter

That's all I can get my hands on at the moment.

Hi I just found this site and saw all the postings. It's very interesting this theory about the little town in the mediterranean. I just came from there, the name is "Lloret de Mar" and it's about 20k from Barcelona. My GGrandfather was born there and his name was Bienvenido Castello. His son (my grandfather) Juan Castello was born there too. The family decided to go to South America, Chile, where my father Jaime Castello and two siblings Maria del Pilar and Juan were born. If you're still active in the research please let me know and we can exchange information.

Hello. Daisy

Thank you for your query about the Castello family.

I am not familiar with any Kansas Castellos.

From what I have learned, my Castello ancestors came from Ireland, but originally from Spain in the 1700s.

My Castello ancestors were located Florissant, Missouri in the 1800s. Some of my ancestors' relatives went to Colorado and founded Florissant, Colorado in the 1800s.

Please e-mail me with dates and such.

The Buckhunter address did not work.

Marilyn Thies

Castello MO, PA and Ireland

My gggrandmother, Mary Castello Smith, was born ca. 1819. According to census, she was born in PA. Her mother, Nancy Castello, was born ca 1784 in Ireland. They both were found in the 1860 census in Florissant MO. There is a Castello Street in Florissant to this day. Family lore suggests that Mary Castello's father was once the mayor of Florissant. Mary's husband was Charles Smith. They had at least 5, possibly 7 children, including Lucy Ann, Charles W., James, William (or Wilton),

Mary, and possibly Virginia. Lucy Ann married Louis R. Brand who was born in KY. If any of these people are in your family tree, please contact me.

I'm fascinated and excited to read your information. I have recently learned that my ggggrandfather, James Castello, emigrated from Spain to Ireland in the 1700s. His son, Michael, emigrated to PA, USA, then moved to Florissant MO where the family became prominent. Even to this day there is a Castello Street (possibly Rue Castello). In the 1860s, many members of the family moved to Colorado and founded Florissant, Colorado.

I have just learned all these details in the past month of research. Please tell me all you know and what is the name of the village in Spain?
