Seeking information on my great grandmother borm May 1832 in Tennessee. Reported spellings on name are Charllottie, Charlotte & Charllotte Costile married Elijah Graham. Two children Adelaide (Adda) (1852) and John E (1870). Also looking for parents and birthdate for Elijah Graham her husband also reported born in Tennesee.

Hello,
I am Terry Moore from Oklahoma City, OK. My great grandmother or my grandmother Moore's mother was Hettie Casteel. She married Jacob Luster. My grandmother's maiden name was Luster. Anyway, I am a decendant of Zachariah Casteel. I have his last will and testament dated April 26, 1811. It is said that Zachariah and wife Elizabeth probably came from Pennsylvania to Greene County, TN before 1795. The Moore family settled in Greene County, TN and Hardin County, KY then moved to Arkansas. I think they had some Cherokee and Choctaw indian blood, however it would be hard to prove. I am pretty sure the Casteel family have some indian blood also, however am not sure if they are on any indian tribal roles. Zachariah married Rebecca Hartley in 1818. His children were Peter, John, Edward, Daniel, Jeremiah, Rachel, Margary, Ruth, Mary, Margaret, and Naomi. I am decended down from Edward who begat Elkannah Casteel born in Greene Co. TN in 1806 or 1807. If you need any other information, I may be able to mail you a couple of things. My great aunt made a family history book before she died and gave it to each of the Moore cousins. I'm looking for info on Zachariah Castile he was born before 1775. He married Sally Hill in Hardin County, Kentucky Nov. 16, 1803. I don't know where he was born are who his mother and father is. If anybody has any info please e-mail.

Your grandfather Charles Edward Castile SR. is burried at Griffin Leggit Hills in Sherwood, Arkansas. He passed away in August of 2005.

I assume my g-g-g-grandfather John Slater came from Germany through somewhere in the US in the late 1700's, my Barr's are all over the US. I will get back to you as soon as possible. My Slater's Came from Germany, My Great-grandfather Henry Slater was born in Germany and My gradmother his daughter was born in Kentucky. My Barr family my Great-grandmother Annie Barr (Bear) was born in Penn. and her Mother and Father was born in Germany. Annie Barr married Henry Slater.
Don't know if this well help.

Phyllis, I note that you are researching two of the same surnames I am: SLATER & BARR, most of my SLATER's are in Canada, my BARR's are all over the place. I would be interested to know if there is a connection.

My grandmother's maiden name was Katie Collins and had a brother name James. She died in 1969 and lived in Pickens MS.She had a sister name Precious Collins.
