Ernest Aaron Freeman and Lola Ethel ELROD Freeman were my grandparents and they lived in Anderson, Anderson, SC

I have info on Merritt Cely. He had 6 children, John W, Henry M, Wilson William, Martha, Judith and Amelia.
I think the link you're looking for is that Henry Cely married Jane Caroline Alexander On January 19, 1836 in Greenville, SC.They had 7 children.

Marion, do you have more info on Carrie Cely and Matthew Burgamy? They were my great grandparents, as I said, and they had my grandfather, Matthew Barnett Burgamy, and your dad's grandmother, Mary. What was Mary's middle name? Do you have any birthdates, marriage dates, etc? Do you know anything about Carrie Cely's family?

Cely, Thomas -- was part of Sir Francis Drake's 1586 West Indian Voyage, they stopped at Roanoke. We believe Thomas lived in England.

Holy cow, that means we're cousins!!! :) "Carrie" Cely and Matthew Burgamy are grandparents on my dad's side.
They had Mary, she married Bert, they had Reuben, and he's my dad's dad. :)

There are some(?) Cely graves outside or Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. I was working there a couple of years ago, at the back of the property was a ?lost? cemetary. I cannot remember any of the names except Cely, who I beleive was a civil war(CSA) veteran. If you would like to know whereabouts it is contact me at jaysilfies@yahoo.com

. I'm descended from Merritt Cely from Brunswick Co, VA (c.1755 - c.1835) who came to Greenville Co, SC about 1813. He md Obedience King. All I know for sure of their children is a dtr named Martha (1778-1860s) who md Moses Prithcett. May have had a son named William (or Wilson) (1780-1853) and possibly another son named John. Can you help me thread all these people together? I'm sure that Maj Henry Merritt Cely of Gvl was g-son of Merritt but have yet to find the link. Also believe the Celys of Anderson Co in 19th Cen are related. -------Thanx-------Richard Fowler

Nancy Caroline Cely Burgamy and her children are buried in the Olive Branch Cemetary in Anderson County, TX. I could'nt find Matthew Clark Burgamy, however in that cemetary's records. Visit the Anderson County website for more info.

I have quite a bit of info on Cely's in the 1800's in Texas and S. Carolina. My GGG Grandfather was William Cely of Greenville County S.C. He died while in service of the CSA in Mississippi. I have more info, but it is not with me at the moment. Let me know if I can give you any info. I would be interested in anything you know as well.

Nancy Carolyn Cely was my great grandmother. She married Matthew Clark Burgamy, born 1851. Matthew was from Georgia, but he left home and went to Texas and settled. Does anyone have any info on Nancy Carolyn Cely or any other Cely names from the 1800's or before?
