I to have ties to the Centers of Breathitt county Kentucky.
My GG Grandfather was james Centers married to Armine Barnett. His father was also James Centers married first to nancy Ann Bryant. I do believe that James had a brother William. Would love to share info. you can write me direct.

That is very interesting. I am Everett McIntosh and my dad was Eveett McIntosh. However my dad was only married to one woman, Leafy Avis Lester. I do not know the people in your reply except for the same name aspect. I do wish you luck and the internet seems to have no time expiration. Which is good in some respects!

These posts are 10 years old, so I hope I get a response! My grandfather was Everett McIntosh, and his wife was Nettie Frances McIntosh (nee Wafford). Everett's family disowned him when he married my grandmother, Frances, and I have hit a brick wall trying to find any more information about them. His father's name was Hyman and his mother was Maggie.I saw your post from 10 years ago and I'm just grasping at straws! Everett was born in Kentucky, but his parents, if I'm not mistaken, were from Scottland. Thanks for any help!

The Emby L Center listed on the 1880 census as a "Stepson" of John "Jackson" Center and Liddie N (Lydia Narcissus Hart)
Center was in fact my Grandfather, Emby Luther Hart. The term "Stepson", I feel was in error and that "Foster son" is a more correct term. Emby L Hart was a son of Hiram Hart and Lydia Elizabeth Anderson that had died prior to the 1880 census of T. B. Hiram Hart was a son of Peter Hart and Charity Taylor of Ashe County NC and Hawkins County Tennessee and a descendent of Peter and Dority Hart.
Emby L Hart along with his "Foster" brothers Maynard Embry Centers and Thomas Centers were all living in Whitman County Washington State in 1920.
Emby's Washington State death cert listed his mother's name as "Liddy" but it so happened that was both his real mother's first name and the name of the mother that raised him.
Oral family history from Emby's sons said "That both of his parents died when he was very young and that he was raised by Cousins and Uncles." Lydia Narcissus Hart was his older Cousin and also a descentant of Peter and Dority Hart.
I welcome any additional information or corrections regarding this matter and any information as to the grave sites of Maynard and Thomas Centers.

Hello, I am Stephanie Cline. Oca Centers was my Great-Grandfather. Esta's maiden name was Fields born 7-5-1909. Her mother was Louelga Back Fields. Esta and Oca had 14 children. One of thier children was, Pauline, my grandmother. How are you related? I have an uncle named Walter. Perhaps named for your grandfather? I will ask my aunts.

If you are part of the same line as ours, it's William Alexander Eubanks, son Joel married Lucinda Elinor Moore, Mary Joesphine Eubanks married Geo. Halleck Center, Abigail Jennings Center married Harry Jacob Dunmyer...my great grandfather.

Now one of the Center's moved to Kentucky and there was a mistake on the birth certificate and thought there was on "S" on the end of the Center name so Jackson Centers.

I believe that the Centers line has some Native American. My ex-husband (now deceased), whose mother was Octavia Centers before she married Albert Davis, always claimed he had NA blood, but never was able to identify the tribe. His daughter, my eldest daughter, certainly shows NA features. And his son, my eldest child, has a definite NA persona. Neither of them ever really knew their father, so they didn't just pick it up.

I forgot to mention that Leslie Ann's father was Lester Center's. Her mother was Judy Thompson. And I am told that the Center's line is Native American, though they are not on any Roll's!

Darcy, I don't have any records of either a Jesse Davis or a Leslie Ann (Centers) Davis. My Centerses and Davises are from Lewis County and Johnson County in Kentucky. The towns are named Ruggles Camp and Jennies Creek, respectively. Sorry that my work can't help you. But I'd love to hear from you again if you find that your folks are related to mine.

Hello, I'm trying to help my grand daughter in law find out about her ancestry.
Her father was Jesse Herbert Davis who apparently committed suicide. Her mother's maiden name is Leslie Ann Centers.
From what I understand, they were in Kentucky at the time my grand daughter was born.
Saw your post & thought perhaps you might be connected to this same family.
Would appreciate any help in helping her!

I know that Clay and Everett Centers are relatives of mine, but I'm just starting my research. My Grandmother's maiden name was Dora May Centers. Clay Centers was her brother. Dora May Centers married Thomas Piersall. They had 10 children, of which my mother is the youngest. She is currently 72.

Katherine Craigmiles was the daughter of James W. Craigmiles and Levisa Wilder. I descend from Katherine's brother, William Henry Craigmiles.

According to the Marriage Register, the parents of Charles Centers were Henry C. Center and Mary Clark. It also states that he was born in Cass Co, IL and was 31 at the time of this marriage on 14 May 1896 in Kampsville, Calhoun Co, IL.

My great grandfather was William Canada Senters/Centers. He married Dulceny (Dulcie) Clifton and they lived in Johnson County, Kentucky. My grandmother Ida Senters/Centers Pigg was born to them December 12, 1903, in Johnson County, Kentucky; she had one brother and one sister (Taylor Senters/Centers and Maxi Senters/Centers. At one time, William and Dulcie, and extended family lived on a house-boat in Virginia.

My grandmother would never discuss her father with me, and she would never let me meet him. Mammaw always called him that mean old Indian. I've seen William from a distance, and he looked just like the Indian on the Indian head nickel. My dad also said that William had Indian in him. I believe that his father George Senters who married Mary May was probably Indian. I have an Uncle who has a photo of our William with his parents and sibilings, dressed in Native dress.

Hope someone can shed some light on my William Canada Senters/Centers.

Our Center line is from Captain James H. CENTER born in 1795 in Londonderry, NH, Andrew Jackson CENTER born 1825 Marion, Wayne County, NY, George Halleck CENTER born in Greendfield, Huron County, OH, Abigail Jennings CENTER born in New Brunside, Johnson, IL.

I don't know if any of these names are from your line in Oregon.

Can't believe I haven't seen your message till now! Yes, I do know about Phebe. She is Phoebe Centers, daughter of Abner and Sarah Centers. I can tell you lots more, but, briefly, she came west to Colorado, before 1900. She married William Clark, a Civil War veteran, and died in Dolores, Montezuma, Colorado in 1932. We don't know of any relation to the Halls yet, but find that Venetia, her sister, lived with the John Hall family in 1870 in Fox, McDonald, Missouri. We don't know their mother's maiden name and wondered if it might be Hall. Also, their brother, Jesse Centers, lived with a John Hopper family as a child. Does this just thicken the plot?? Would love to hear from you!
