Re: Josephine Cerney b. 1872 Chicago d. 1960 Park Ridge

I do not have Albert Cerny's vitals. Albert and Veronica Cerny's names are on the death certificate for Josephine Cerny Tharp. In 1981 my husband's cousin, Phyllis Preece, toured the country looking for their ancestors. When she stopped in Chicago, she called Albert Tharp for all the information he had. After she mailed him a groupsheet, he added items that had been omitted. While in Chicago, she ordered copies of many original documents that were available.

I checked the 1930 census and found only one entry for Veronica Cerny listed living with Joseph and Rose Perkins as mother-in-law. Veronica Cerny was born in Czechoslavakia about 1849. If you haven't already ordered both death certificates for Albert and Veronica Cerny, that is where you will find additional information about them. Also, the Chicago city directories should list Albert Cerny. From our experience, the early Europeans were not able to speak or understand the English language and therefore the census takers, etc. sort of guessed the spelling of their surnames.

I am not too good at scanning, if you give me your address, I will mail you a copy of Josephine Cerny Tharp's death certificate, showing her parent's names.

He is now 69 years old.

His braother, George, is about 65 years of age, and has been married twice that I know of.

These two (2) brothers were born in Racine, Wisconson and are the first two biologicol sons of Edward Cerny, brother of Charles Cerny, who died in Washington (state of).

sh

I'm also trying to locate his current whereabouts but and information you would be willing to share to see if this is in fact the same person and that I can add to our tree would be GREATLY appreciated

To my knowledge, there is a Robert Haas who (at the time) lived somewhere in Penn. He was a son of Robt. Haas by a former marriage - since that time there was another marriage this time to the first wife of Edward Cerny, still living, age 89.

The son of Bob Haas -also a Bob - must now be 60 + yrs.

sh

I don't know anything about the Klema family, sorry.

Charles and Louise Cerny were the biologica uncle and aunt of my husband, Edward (Cerny) Haas.

We kept in contact with his Uncle Charles until he died some years back. Janet Cerny Bartell was the daughter of Charles and Louise Cerny. She still lives in Racine as does her daughter and son who are both adults.

Perhaps they can help. If I find anything out, I will most surely let you know through this web site.

Sincerly, shirley haas

I have a Charles & Louise Cerny in Caledonia,Racine Cnty,WI. Louise is my grama's half sister. Her parents are Mary Klema born Mar 9, 1870 in WI, d Aug 28, 1904 in Racine, WI ... father - Charles Gemperle. Charles Gemperle and Mary Klema married October 30, 1889 (Racine Cnty WI) Mary Klema then married Charles Smith on Sep 29, 1897 (Milw Cnty WI).
Charles Cerny and Louise are listed on the 1910 Caledonia, Racine, WI Census with son Charles G Cerny b 12-27-1908. I have Louise Gemperle Cerny's death Jan 27, 1971 (Racine Cnty,WI) And on the 1920 Caledonia with your Edward b abt1914. (You will find Louise Gemperle on Caledonia,Racine Cnty,WI 1900 Census with Charles & Mary Smith & my grama Caroline.)
I'm looking for more information on Mary Klema, would you have any? 1880 Census shows father as Albatzo Klima (I know her sister Anna married William Smith May 11, 1897 Milwaukee County, they later raised my grama, Caroline Smith, when Mary died in Aug 28,1904 ... Anna, b Aug 9, 1868 died Nov 22, 1943). Anna Klema Smith and Mary Klema Smith are both buried in the COunty Haven Cemetery, Caledonia,Racine,WI. There is a Klema brother Tony, b1865 and possibly a brother Joseph b1863. They came to US between 1866-1868 (Tony & Joseph born in Bohemia; Anna & Mary born in WI). The kids are listed with "Mattas Clemer" in 1870, I can't find the father after, but an Elizabeth Klima, b1905, shows up later with William Smith as mother-in-law ... possibly a step mother?
We also have a HAAS family connection. William Smith's first wife (and Charles Smith's mother) is Catherine Mikulecky, daughter of John Mikulecky & Catherine Plsek. Catherine Mickulecky Smith is the sister of Joseph Mikulecky (b5-13-1852) who married Maria Haas (b12-28-1856).
Do you have more information Klema family? Check our family tree "Dykstra Family Tree" for more Smith/Schmidt, Mikulecky info.

I don't have alot of information but I do know that Anton and Frank were brothers. Anton was born in 1860 and Frank Cerny in either 1868 or 1869. Anton immigrated to Canada settling in Frank, Alberta around the early 1900s. I believe he immigrated with his wife and at least 2 children, Rudolph born 1888 in Krtice, Czech and Rose born 1899. I am not sure if Frank immigrated with Anton or came later, I think he might have come later. I think they might have come from the Bohemia area. Anton died Dec 3, 1948 in Frank, Alberta and Frank died June 8, 1921 in Bellevue, Alberta. If you could provide information that would be fantastic. My Grandma, Frank's daughter, was so young when her father died she has very little information. She is now 88 years old and I would love to give her more information on her father's side.

Starla

I have an obituary from the paper from Gregory, South Dakota. Probably from the 1950's for Mrs. Ed Cerney. She was 33 yrs. old and a resident of Dallas. Will gladly send to family or friend. I obtained this from an estate sale in Gregory.e-mail marvtrucks@chartermi.net

Agnus Cerney was my GGG grandmother on the womans top side. Other surnames were Collison, Lynch and finally back to Brinton.
The name agnus stuck through the top line for generations. I have a Sarah Agnus Cerney that married Hollahan, therir daughter Margaret Agnus Hollahan married James Reubin davis Sr. My Grandfather. I know they were connected to a carnival that was in the family for years around the Pa, JN and Maryland states. Family stories tell of the ancestor that was killed by a streetcar. Any conections?
