I was surprised to see how fast I was able to find someone. The Cesena family connection you are looking for are part of my family tree also. Your grandmother Erolinda Rivera Cesena was my great grandmother's sister. Her name was Juliana Rivera Ballestero married to Francisco P. Ballestero. Juliana's other siblings were Ramon Jr., Filipe, Albertina, James & Rolando. Would love to hear from you.

My great, great, great grandmother was Eugenia Cesena. I had been told that she was originally from Spain. She married George Miller near Cabo San Lucas. Her daughter Lucie Jane married Manuel Sanchez and their daughter Carlotta married Nathaniel Joseph McHorney. They had 7 children, including my grandmother Charlotte. I'm wondering if anyone else is connected to Eugenia.

At the moment those names don't ring a bell but I'm still looking for a link. My mom's cousin, a Montejano, told me that her mother told her that San Jose del Cabo, Baja, Ca, was a common drop off point for those who had land grants and were headed to northern California around the Bay area. Maybe you could find a link if you search the San Jose del Cabo area, Baja CA, Mex. Many of that line came from Hermosillo, Mexico. In my line I found a Juan Ygnacio Cipriano Cesena-B. 1757, m. Ma. Ysabel Antonia Ovalles/Valle/Arayse. Juan Ygnacio's father was Juan Jose Cesena-B. 1731, m. Maria. Juan Ygnacio's son was Cipriano Cesena-B. 1777 Hermosillo, Son. Mx., D. 1854 San Jose del Cabo. Maria de Jesus Cesena m. Estevan Green/Grin migrated to San Francisco. I've given you these names wondering if your great grandfather, Juan Cesena, could/ve been related to any of these people. I'm sure he was. Thanks again for responding. If I come across any information I will let you know.

I am looking for a Cesena connection also. My family is from the bay area. My grandmother is Ramona Cesena, she was brought here by her father Juan Cesena the story goes. She was told that her mother died in childbirth. She remebered the name Antonia/o. Benigno and Estrofio Cesena came to the states by boat and so did Dodero (realated to Antonia/o. If you check my Cesena's here, you will see the passenger log. My god father Joseph Cesena was born to Maria and Juan Cesena, his sister was Jessie, also a Zaspe. Does any of these names sound familar?

Hi, my name is Darlene McRae. I am completing a family history that my mother started years back using the Guia Familiar. My mother's name was Maria Melitona Montejano born in Calexico, California Her parents were Francisco Lucero Montejano and (Maria?) Jesus Gastelum all from San Jose del Cabo Baja Sur. In doing research I discovered that Jesus was a descendent of (Pedro)Roman Gastelum and Josefa Castro. Josefa was the daughter of Salvador Ma Castro and Maria de Jesus Cesena (I think the first wife of Esteban Green. My mother used to tell us about "Los Green's".) There is an Adelaido Cesena listed as my mom's godfather on her baptismal certificate. The Cesena name was "new" to me. (Pedro)Roman Gastelum was the son of Pablo Gastelum and Elogia Escobar. Pablo was the son of Secundino Gastelum and Rafaela Acebedo/Acevedo who were from San Antonio Pueblo. (Don't know where that's at.) This information was from family stories and Guia Familiar de la Baja Calif. 1700-1900. Many of the Gastelum's followed the Montejano's to Mexicali,B.C. and Calexico, CA. Some went up to northern California around the Bay area. Let me know if this has been helpful or if there's a connection anywhere. I'm still looking also.

Hello. I just started completing the family line that my mother, Maria Melitona Lucero Montejano, began some years ago using the Guia Familiar and family stories. The name "Cesena" was a name I had never heard until it came up in the family search. Lo and behold, when I looked at my mom's baptismal certificate there is an Adelaido Cesena listed as her godfather. My great grandmother was a Melitona Lucero whose father was (Prudencio de la) Cruz Lucero from Miraflores. His mother is listed as a Maria de Jesus Lucero. They were all from San Jose del Cabo Baja Sur. San Jose del Cabo being a small town, the same surnames keep popping up in all the lines. Do any of these names ring a bell? I would appreciate any information you would have.

My father was the youngest of six children, raised in

I am also a Cesena descendant from the Cesena's of Bja. Califonia, but in the US since 1958. My father was Teodoro Cesena and grandmother Susana Lucero Grandfather Salomon was from Bja. Calif. Sur branch of the family documented in a book: Familia ,Migration and Adaptation in Baja and Alta California,1800-1975. Could we possible be relatives? Please reply as I am compiling my Family history and am currently writing a book of my Cesena family legacy.

I rencently found that my Grandfather was baptized Arthur(Cesena) in Mission San Juan Baptista in the Santa Clara County area of CA. This was in April of 1881. His mother was listed as Petra Sanchez and his father as John Jack, which we suspect is like saying John Smith, since it states that his mother was "single". His Godfathers are Ignacio Secena (Cesena - the priest tells us that it was probably misspelled since all his other docs through his life say Cesena) and Jesus Ortega. Do any of these names sound familiar in your family searches? Are your family searches fronm the Gilroy, Fresno, Hanford CA areas? Please get in touch with me...goddessoffitness@msn.com

I assume you are serving in the US Armed FOrces in Iraq. I am married to a CPT in the US Army. he just returned from Iraq about 2 weeks ago. We are in Baumholder Germany. I can't tell you much on my line of the Cesena's as I am still stuck where I have been with my Grandpa. I am hoping we can get a birth certificate soon. My dad has been trying to get info from a mission in CA where his dad was suppossed to have been baptized.

But I wanted to tell you that my thoughts and prayers will be with you. Write back if you would like.

My Grandfather was Leonard Cesena from Agoura Ca. He retired as a Captain from the Malibu Fire Dept. My Grandmother was Angelina Acosta from Piru Ca. The Cesena homestead is in Newhall, Ca. Family and friends please reply.

Hey Bob got your message i would like to see your family tree.My name is also Robert but i go by my middle name Anthony to many Roberts in the family.Yes i know there is a lot of Fishers tied to the Cesena name.My dad comes from a large family of 19,he is the oldest at 81.All his family lives in the Bay area.His dad Domingo was born in San Jose Del Cabo in the 1800s.I dont know to much about my grandfathers Dad but his mom was Margarita Ramirez Cesena.I also know that there is a Vicente and Artudo Cesena that goes way back that is related.

Hello, I just came accross your posting. There are many descendants of the Cesena's. For instance I am one, however my name is Roberto (Bob) Martinez Fisher. Yes I know, no where near a name Cesena, however, my Great-greatgrandmother, Liberata, was the daughter of Cipriano Cesena. There are lots of relatives in Baja as well as in the US. I can go back to 1731 with the Cesena name. I am a descendant of William Fisher and Liberata Cesena, my G-g-grandparents. Mr. Wilkies married into the Green side of the family. You may want to look into the book at your main Public Library called Families of Baja California 1800-1900s by Pablo Martinez. It gives a lot of detailed info on various families. We descend from the founder of Cabo San Lucas, Cipriano Cesena who's parents and Grand parents go back to 1731 in Sonora. good Luck

I think I might have started this whole board in 1999. Since then I have been able to find out little more about my Grandfather. I know his name was Arthur B. (Benito/Bennie) Cesena. Born suppossedly in Gilroy CA March 21, 1880. He married twice, first wife Edna Isabella McAdam and they had 2 or 3 children, One named Elsa, Marcia and Mathew. Elsa lived in Santa Rosa. Edna died in Santa Rosa in Jan. 1980. Elsa Had a Niece named Kimberley. His second marriage was to Virginia Hermania Arguellas. On there marriage certificate is the name J.N. Bertha Cesena as a witness. I have no idea who that is. They had 5 sons, Art, Salvador, Gilbert, Henry and Ralph. They lived in Stockton CA growing up. My father is Ralph and he still lives in Stockton along with Gilbert. The other brother Sal died but his widow lives in Stockton. Henry has died and his famiy lives in VA. Art livedin San Jose area in CA. I understand that my Grandfather, Arthur, may have been born of the paternal name Crowninshield but possibly took his stepfather's name of Cesena. That wold suggest that his mother married a Cesena in the Stockton, Fresno, Gilroy, area. I can not connect anthing else to Arthur. If you know of any Arthur that was in your family at anytime that was possibly a stepson and lived in Stockton when he died in April 1967, I would appreciate the information.

This is a wonderful site. Here it is almost 1 1/2 years later. We have found and made contact with all my father's siblings on both sides, his paternal and maternal. They are all wonderful. Once, everything was sorted it was amazing. I am thankful to my granparent's. I feel that both of them helped me from the other side. They wanted to mend what had happened. My grandmother passed away almost a year to the date of us finding that side. His father and a couple of siblings were also deceased when we found his paternal side. For all that are living we are truly blessed to have eachother. I don't care about who said what, and when and why. All I care about is the now and the future. One day we will meet them. When that day comes I know that no one will ask what, when or why. I know for a fact it will be hugs, kisses and thanks. Amen. Thank you to all the search angels that had helped from this site.

UPDATE: I found my father's family. His father passed away in San Francisco CA. My father's siblings on his fathers side have talked to him every day since we made contact. On 8/13/05 we will be having a family reunion. Finally after 50 years my father will be reuinted physically with his paternal family. His father always told his brothers and sisters about my dad and only had one wish to find him. His last wish was to continue on with the search. I found my father;s mother she passed away last year. Unfortunately she did not tell her children of my father and his sister Linda. They only knew about three other children that were taken from her years later. They have not made any contact to us. However, through some weird happening my father's mothers half sister was married to a cousin of my father's father. There is some family ties there. My grandmother was the black sheep of the family and was hardly around, so they never put two and two together of the marriage, plus it is such a big family. My dad's half sister is talking with her cousins and they are helping her with my father to meet his sister's on his mother's side. DRAMA but family. I wanted to say thank you to Berta and all those who helped me. It was through this site that I found the tools and finally became reunited with my other family. Cesena / San Francisco/Need Help

I am looking for information on my family. My father was born a Roy J. Cesena on 12/04/51 at San Francisco General Hospital to a J. Cesena and an Evlyn Guzman. He was adopted aroung 1953/54 in Haywar CA. I was told that his mother and father were not married, however his father was from San Francisco. His adopted name changed to Raymond Anthony Figueroa. If anyone has information please help.

Adrian Legge Cesena, 77, of San Diego died Sunday. He was born in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and was a retired heavy equipment operator for SDG & E. He served in the Army and the Air Force and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Association and VFW Post 4817 in Logan Heights. Survivors include his wife, Isabel; daughters, Elizabeth, Lilia and Laura of San Diego; son, Adrian of San Diego; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. tomorrow, Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary, 7387 Broadway, Lemon Grove. Services: 6 p.m. tomorrow, at the mortuary. Inurnment: Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma. Published in the San Diego Union-Tribune on 2/5/2004. (volunteer submission)

Information taken from a copy of my ggrandparents marriage license, wherein Michael and Prudence were witnesses. My ggrandfather Cipriano, was the son of Cipriano (Cypriano) Cesena of Mexico (My gggrandfather married to Mary Weeks). I too, have a death cert. of my ggrandfather's oldest daughter, with him (the father) listed as "Zip." They are listed in the 1870 census as a family under Mary WEEKS. Would love to hear from you!
