My parents are both from Durango and we are also Chaidez. My dad is from la tembladora, municipio de canelas durango and a large group of people have our last name there is even a small town called los Chaidez.

I know I'm pretty late but I just wanted to reply because I found other Chaidez on this board. My Grandmother's last name is Chaidez and her family originates from Potrero de Chaidez, Tepehuanes. I haven't been able to find many people from there but it's also a tiny rancho.

Alice the name Luciano Mesa rings a bell!! My gandparents (CHAIDEZ-LUGO) are from Amaculi, durango with family in cosala, sinaloa. my brother named his son after Luciano. Not sure if Luciano was my grandmas brother or uncle? but definately rings a bell. i sit and talk to my grandma about our family tree very much. Shes 93 yrs old and has a very vivid memory!

My grandma is Chaidez-Lugo. she has a relative by the name of Luciano. My brother named his son Luciano at my grandmothers request. My family is from Amaculli Durango with connections to Sinaloa.

I have an aunt who gave me a bit of info. on where the last name Chaidez comes from. It's origin is from Spain as my great, great , great grandparents came from & then moved to Durango, Mexico... We believe that the last name Chaidez is unique as it's not popular or even heard of by most of the people... We also believe that anybody with the Chaidez last name comes from the same root... Hope this helps...

ok people here i come I'm from durango too and my perents came from la sierra madre canelas .topia my abuelito had red hair blue eyes as well as my abuelita and for what i kind of know yes it is french canadien . remember back on the days there was gold mines in durango and there where a migration of peaple from north america and canada looking for gold . and mexico also was under the french for 4 years
the funny part is the all my brothers and sister look like persian and arabes

That's interesting, your family name is Chaidez? Has your family shared with you that they believe it's Russian or Polish? I agree that it's a European surname, or that at least it's origins are from Europe but hearing Russia or Poland from you is definitely interesting...thank you for sharing.

Durango Mexico is not the country of orgin. My great grandparents migrated from Saudi Arabia to Durango Mexico. We are not Arab so I guessing they fled European to escape either war of religious persecution. I believe the name is European, most likely Russina or Polish. Although the French orgin did sound kind of interesting.

Yes this is true,my father is from Durango Arroyo chico tepejuanes and yes my family is tall and light skinned. There are a lot of us here in Chicago! Do we have a crest?

My family also originates from Sinaloa. My grandpa is Merced Chaidez, born in 1937. Hes from a small town but i cant remember what its called. My dad is Eligio Chaidez born in El Dorado, Sinaloa on 1967. Im guessing most chaidez come from Sinaloa?

Hola- My name is Leticia and I am married to Antonio E .Chaidez. I am reading and finding out that the majority of Chaidez families come from Tepehuanes(Municipio), Durango(Estado) and are all very fair skin and tall. Like my suegro and all his brothers and sisters. !!! names are Saul Chaidez, Manuel Chaidez, Francisco Chaidez, Nina Chaidez, Otilia Chaidez, Luz Chaidez,y Sofia Chaidez, hijos de Dona Sofia Chaidez y Don Antonio Chaidez ( que en paz descansen)all came from Tepehuanes to Chicago...

maybe your father was born in tepehuanes, durango, because the other name don´´t exist in durango. In this place ( Tepehuanes are many peopole called Chaidez and near of this town was a place called "EL Potrero de Chaidez"

Sorry it took me a long time to reply. Have you done any research on the "Echaide"? This is what I've found out "Echaide" changed to "Chaidez" in Durango. I do know that Echaide is originated in Spain as well.

Well you should start in Durango Mex. it seems like every Chaidez comes from there, my Dad and granparents are from El Dorado Sinaloa but mom told me once that his Familly comes from Durango,I dont know what generation move to Sinaloa.But most of the Chaidez I heard from, come from Durango. Wierd ah? oh and they are tall and lite skinnded.:)

How's it going familia? My name is Samuel Chaidez currently living in Salinas, CA. My parents and grandparents were born in Los Cerritos, Durango, Mexico. Mi abuelito era Juan de Dios Chaidez and my grandma is Beatriz Pizzaro Chaidez. I know i have a lot of lost cousins in LA, Chicago, and Las Vegas. the name CHAIDEZ is a french name or term for "keepers of the water" we were in charge of getting good drinking water from the wells that came up you can break up the name but the correct spelling is CHAIDEAUX

llamado arroyo chico del municipio de tepehuanes durango segun me lo platicara alguna ocacion mi abuelo
asi mismo incluso existe un lugar llamdo el potrero de chaidez en la sierra muy cercano a un pueblo llamado el yaqui.

Hi. My name is Javier Chaidez, i'm mexican born in Tecate, Baja Calif, Mexico. My grandfather was from Durango, i'm not sure the city or region. But i can tell you that here in Tecate there's a big Chaidez family, my father is the only son and i have 5 aunts. We're the only Chaidez here.

Thank you. My father is from Mexico as well, but it's not a very common name. Of course, researching on this website proves that to be wrong I suppose. =)

As I stated in my first posting, when I was in Spain, it was not a name they had heard of-- on the other hand, I have heard it said from a few people that it stems from France.

I am just curious to find some definite proof. Or a means to find out.
