Hello Kay
I do not have your grand parents in my tree but I have found their names in Records on an Ancestry tree owned by Tonyfromcornwall and also on three Genes Reunited trees owned by Margaret Thomas, Valerie Hewer and Anthony Sewell. Tony and Anthony may be the same person. What information are you looking for? Do you have access to the Ancestry or Mundia web sites? My Champness line goes back to Amyan Champneys (Champness) 1222. The early family lived in Essex and then London. I have my full tree on my computer and Genes Reunited. Regards, Colin Baker, Australia

JOHN CHAMPNESS – FARE PAYING PASSENGER ON “EDEN”
John Champness, father of John Henry Champness, Grandfather of Sydney Molineux Champness, Great Grandfather of Clifford Harry Champness, Great Great Grandfather of Gwenda Joy, Shirley, Heather & Valerie Kay Champness.
The Life Story of John Henry Champness, is at Adelaide, Melbourne & Canberra libraries.
Passage from literature -
"The significance of the applications for passage is that many show an embarkation number and allow a deduction to be made concerning the likely ship of passage. In all the cases mentioned previously this points to a ship called the “Eden”, a barque of 523 tons, which left Portsmouth on the 26 February 1838 and arrived at Port Adelaide on 24 June 1838 with 225 passengers."

Richard.....Sampson Kinsey and Elizabeth Kinsey are my mother's grandparents. My mother's mother was Emma Kinsey daughter of Sampson and Elizabeth. My mother is Dorothy Alice Smith daughter of Edward and Emma Smith of Cambridge. My greatgrandfather was one of the first builders on Humberstone Rd. He was Joseph James Frost Smith and his brother was James Christmas Smith. They ran a frame shop in Cambridge. I still have an aunt in Cambridge Violet Gillett. I would love to know more about the Kinseys of Bishop Stortford. I haven't had much luck with my greatgrandfather Joseph James Frost Smith. Any help on your end would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hello, My 6 x Gt Grandmother was Elizabeth Champness who married John Hutley in Elsenham 1730. The registers for Elsenham do not appear to now exist prior to 1735 ish. I have done little on Champness (both prior to this date or since) but clearly all the Champness's of the Bishop Stortford/Stansted Mountfitchet/Elsenham area are connected. Look forward to hearing from you.
Richard
