Looking for info on early Chapel, Chappell, etc ancestors and which cemeteries in the Montville area to find them.

Also perhaps Stonington, New London, etc.

I once had a good web link but have lost it.

Thanks !

Looks like we are descended from William Chapel who appeared in New London about 1640. It is clear that the Chapels resided in the Montville area in the late 1600's and 1700's and in fact are still there today. From there they went to Berkshire County, MA. Turner Chapel is my g-g-g grandfather. He was the son of Joseph Chapel and Patience Stebbins

I should be able to find Turner in my papers I thought, but didn't. Who is Joseph father? I must be going to far back because I have a Joseph married to Bethiah and he is listed as the son of William.

Joseph was the son of Jonathan and the grandson of the Joseph you are referring to. Turner was born in 1778 in MA.
Do you have anything on William?

Thanks, Patsy. I have read some things about him. His link to Geo. remains hidden. I am planning a visit to Berkshires and down to New London in mid-May. Any tips on cemeteries there?
And can I help you in any way?

Cedar Grove Cem. in New London. Chesterfield Cemetary. I read about a Chapel hill and Chapel corners in Montville I believe. I read there are 3 or 4 diff cem near there farm at or near Sandisfield. Best I could do. This is the farm of Richard and Abigail. I believe this would be Joseph's grand nephew.

Those are great tips- Thanks. I am going to try to find the land that the family lived on in Washington, MA as well. Chapel Hill is still on the map near Montville. Most of my time will be in Washington and Pittsfield,MA with a day and a half in CT. I will travel thru Sandisfield.
