I believe that David's father was Charlot Chapel (b. 1770) and died December 21, 1839 of smallpox. The mother was Sally Miner, born in177o and Died November 29, 1839 of smallpox. Sarah's father was Ashbel Avery or Abraham Avery (b. July18, 1744 in Montville, New London Cty, Ct). Sarah's mother was Rebecca Stevens (b. about 1750 in New London, Ct).

The Eugene Chapel Genealogy has Richard Chapel Jr b 3/8/1751 who Married Grace Douglas b 4/8/1753. It does not list any Crignons. I don't see any of the descendants you have listed coming from that marriage. I can send an electronic copy of the Eugene Chapel Genealogy, but do not know how to do it through this forum.

In Eugene Chapel's Genealogy of 1915 I find two Floyd Chapels.
My grandfather who was born 1/2/1880 and another Floyd born 3/13/1913. Are you related to either one?

I lived in a house built by David Chapel before we remodeled our attic the wall had a stamp on the wall D Chapel. The house next to Chapel Cemetery is still owned by his decendants. I stopped by there and talked to the owners once upon a time

Hello - I am back researching this family, and discovered your message!

I have some information that links Mary Ann Chappell to some of the Horle families found in Skaneateles.

I believe all these families are related, and that they emigrated to the US from Banwell, Somerset England. I am interested in these families as I am a direct descendant of Thomas Horle, born 1821 in Banwell, to James and Sarah (maiden name unknown) Harl/Horl/Hurl.

I have more details if you would like to discuss.

hi how do i find a death record for my uncle Richard Britsow mother maiden name westley he was born in 1963 and taken by a vicar/priest family i believe and they changed his name to David chapel( spelling may differ ) he sadly killed his self in the mid 1990's but im having trouble finding any info as not sure if it will be under his born name or his changed name, any help would be brill,

We own the Philemon Sage House. Betsey Chapel was Philemon’s wife and gave birth to 8 children in the house all living to maturity.

Richard Chapel and Grace Douglas were Betsey’s parents. While I know lots about the Sage side of the family I know nothing about the Chapel side beyond Grace’s parents names.

Any thoughts on where to look?

I have information on the Chapel family connecting information provided by Theron T. Chapel in 1971 to Edith S. Wessler on his line back to Julius Chapel, s/o Lorenzo Dow Chapel and Margaret Clapp, and Mary Louisa Joslin, d/o Williiam Brown Joslin, b. 6 Sep 1814, d. 1892 in Springport MI, and Mary K. Brigham. William was s/o Israel Joslin, b. 1776 and Sally Brown. This Israel was s/o Benjamin Joslin, b. 2 Jun 1753 and Susannah Robinson, who had 10 children. Benjamin was s/o Israel Joslin, b. 1719 and Mary Brown. The Colonial immigrant ancestor of this line was Israel Joslin, b. ca. 1693, d. Aug 1761, who m. 18 Dec 1718 Sarah Bayley/Bailey, of Boston,d/o Joseph Bayley, b. England, and they settled in Connecticut. They settled in Killingly CT.

Now your name rings a bell! Don't believe all the stuff you read on line that does not have sources, especially royal connections. There actually are some royal connections in the Chapel or Douglas line (forget which at the moment, and getting ready for work,)as set forth in the Plantagenet book. The name that leads to them is escaping me at the moment.

I followed his wifeback through the men in her family and went back to Nephrotiti (sp)WOW. Alot of Kings and Queens and royalty in Ireland etc.

I am descended from Richard Crignon by his second wife, Sarah Smith. I have pictures of the tombstones of all three. I have a lot of information on Richard Crignon, including his will. I also have his ancestry back to England. If you would like, I can do a report for you from my genealogy program (TMG). It doesn't have everything I have, but does have a lot.

I only have Chapels that go back to Richard Crignon Chapel, dates unknown. but his son would be Joseph Richard Chapel born 5/8/1786 Sandisfiel, Mass. county of Berkshire. There is more info on Richad Crignon, but have not had time to communicate with another person on these posts to get it.If this is your line, I show that one of Crignon's wifes was Grace and that is on my line.

Hello Karen - I see this post is rather dated, but I am just getting started and did a search and saw your post.

James (Benjamin) Chappell and Mary A. from Skaneateles, NY are my g-g-grandparents.

James was born in 1827 and died 8/23/1883.
Mary A. was born 1835 and died 1917. I do not have a surname on Mary - have you been able to verify this?

They had a son Franklin Benjamin Chappell.

Have info on several of James's brothers.

I also have a newspaper clipping from the funeral of Myrtice Chappell (daughter of Franklin Benjamin Chappell) that shows an Edward Horle in attendance. Not sure if this helps you, but thought it interesting that the last name matches one of the two you proposed.

Richard Crignon was born in Montville (the north parish of New London, Connecticut) and moved to Sandisfield, Massachusetts, with his bride, Grace. They had 8 children, and then Grace died (1790). I have a picture of her tombstone. Richard remarried to Sarah Snow, and had 2 more children. I am descended from one of the children of Richard and Sarah. I have Richard's ancestry back a few generations. I also have Grace back a few generations. I have spent many years researching this family. Which child of Richard and Grace is your ancestor?

It is like a puzzle and each piece leads us in a different direction. The will would be an awsome piece of documented history, where did you find him? in the New England area?? or maybe in England. Yes, my Peter Levy who married Hannah Chapel was from Sherborne St John and I have been told his father was a Peter Levy too. I am descended from Peter and Hannah's son George Levy (1779-1864) who was born in Sherborne St John and moved to Beauworth, where he had a farm and ran the pub.

I believe Peter Levy (son of Peter)married Hannah Levy (my daughter's name) formerly Chapple, who was the daughter of John Chapple b Abbt 1727 m 1752 and Deborah (Cole) b Abbt 1731, both from Sherbourne St John.

I have a Edward Chapel married to a Syble Leone Price. She was b. abt 1905 in Genesee Co., MI.Would be interested in anyone connected to this family as these names come up as attending the Price - Webster family reunions held at Potters Park in Lansing mid to late 1950s. Is anyone researching the descendants of Aaron Chapple (Chapel, Chappell, etc.) who was a free african american from northwest CT in late 1700's, married martha Obadiah, a Schagticoke Native american, then a second wife Hagar, and died in Dutchess County NY around 1832. Son Aaron Chappel jr. went on to Chenango County NY, had a wife Margaret. He is in census records in Greene, Chenango, NY for 1820 - 1850. Thanks for any help!!!

I am looking for any offspring of Clyde Chapel(my father's half-brother) and Elsie Wright. Clyde was born in Michigan. He was a switchman on the Union Pacific Railroad operating on the Platte River, Nebraska. He married Elsie Wright. He died in a tuberculosis sanitarium in New Mexico in the early 1900s.

Can anyone help me find Bessie's obituary? She was born 7 Dec 1910, the daughter of William S & Florence W (Hughett) Powers, or Power. She may have married a Jake S Chapel, born 10 May 1911, died 18 Dec 1988 also in Salem, Missouri. Neither Bessie nor Jake (nor any other Chapels) are listed in the cemetery records for Dent Co, Missouri.

Oct. 7,1821, died Feb. 13,1880. I don't know locations.
