Chapel-Hogan connection?

I need help. My efforts to find John Chapel Hogan (M. Sarah Hudgins) in any of the census records have failed. We know he was around between 1820 and 1880, more or less. His wife Sarah is there with the kids, he did not die in the Civil War because he has children born after it was long over.

I think Chapel is a family name. His mother may have been a Chapel. Because John C. Hogan was born in SC, I think that one of the Chapel family from Union, SC may be the ones, but not sure.

Anyone have any connection of a Chapel-Hogan marriage? If so, John Chapel Hogan would likely be their son!

I am looking for the parents or William Giffin/Giffen born about 1817 in Ohio. He married Elizabeth Chapel in Clark Co., Indiana. The marriage is recorded as William Griffin to Elizabeth Chappell 10 December 1843. Also looking for any information on Elizabeth. She was born in Indiana about 1814. It appears that they died prior to the 1860 census, leaving two children, Sarah and George Washington Giffin. There was always a family story that George was orphaned and traveled by train to Indiana. I found a George W Giffin of the right age living with the Kirk family in Clark Co., Indiana in 1860. A Sarah Giffin of the right age is listed in the household of John Giffin in Belmont, Ohio. Any help with this would be appreciated!

Anybody have info on this CHAPEL line (NY to MI)?

I stumbled across this link while searching for Chapel ancestors, and wondered if anybody connected to, or had any info on this CHAPEL family:

http://www.usgennet.org/usa/mi/county/tuscola/book/book196-1...

Earlier I had reason to believe the Samuel mentioned was the father of my Penelope CHAPEL (born about 1818 in either NY or Ontario), but I don't see her listed as one of his children (unless she is one of the two already deceased...which is possible since she died in 1887, but I also didn't have this Amanda as her mother).

The evidence that led me to believe this Samuel was her father:

Penelope came from either NY or Ontario, to Michigan. A witness to her wedding is a Samuel Chapel. Penelope married Fred Pace. Fred Pace came to the same area of Oakland Co, MI as mentioned with this Samuel Chapel. Penelope's first child was named Samuel (after her father?) A Samuel Chapel moved to Racine, WI in the same area as Fred Pace and Penelope Chapel (must be SOME connection). This Samuel is born about 1795 in NY to parents from CT (according to Census info). If Samuel Chapel wasn't Penelope's father, he might have been an uncle or a MUCH older brother.

I'm also intrigued by this Blakesley or Blakeslee Chapel that is mentioned as a Rev. War Soldier. Does anybody have any info on him? I can't find a thing no matter where I search. Thanks.

Scott

Henry Chapel/Tabitha Jones and family

In a very old family bible were these inscriptions:

on June 29, 1857 at Bedwellty (England)
Henry Chapel, 2l, of Rhymney married
Tabitha Jones, 19, also of Rhymney

Deaths:
William Chapel March 22, 1858
Martha Chapel September 4, 1860

Births:
Zella Chappel 5/19/1889
Harry Chappel no date given
Tabitha Chappel 6/11/1894

I believe that the three births listed are grandchildren of Henry and Tabitha Chapel. I believe that the grandchildren's parents were John and Georgia Chapel, son and dgtr-in-law of Henry and Tabitha Chapel. John & Georgia made their home in Pittsburgh, PA and I believe he was a butcher by trade. Appreicate any information pertaining to the Chapel/Chappel family both here in PA and in England. Thanks! BB
