The IGI lists a marriage between Abraham Charlesworth and Mary Hincliff 26 November 1792 in Holmfirth, the entry was submitted by a member of the LDS, so you would need someone to look in either the Almondbury Parish church or Holmfirth Chapelry registers for that period, to check authenticity.

The parish registers for Almondbury state there is a baptism for an Abraham Charlesworth, son of John, Clothier of Austonley, at Holmfirth Chapelry (Almondbury parish) on 3rd March 1770, he was a twin of Joshua. I Found this information on 'find my past dot com'.
Good Luck with your research

Hi
I am also looking for David's parents (my husband's family tree). I was told that Mally may in fact be Mary. The only reference to a marriage that I can find is between Abraham and Mary Brooke but not sure if this is correct.
I'd be happy if you let ne know if you find anything more and I'll do the same.
Regards,
Jenny

Hello Karenelise,

I'm sorry for not replying immediately but I've been in America (I live in the UK). While there I found the grave of Byron's father and the house the family occupied from 1910-1932 in Delta, Colorado. I also spent three lovely days in Ohio with some of my cousins, descendants of Byrons half-brother Charles.

Your aunt is not currently in contact with me.

I have lots of material on the Charlesworth line going back to the late 1700s. Byron was one of eight children to John Rollings Charlesworth. John married three timesand had three children by his first wife and five by his second wife. I'm descended from the first wife and Byron is from the second wife.

It might be easier to carry this on by email. My email address is phil.charlesworth@gmail.com.

Phil

Hello,
I was recently searching for information on my great grandfather, Byron Charlesworth, when I came across this posting. The woman that replied to you earlier is my aunt, named Karenelise as well.

I was completely unaware of my great grandfather having any siblings, though I suppose with the generations removed, I would not have any information on that.

If my aunt is still in contact with you, please let me know. I am interested in learning more about that side of my family.

Thank you,
Karenelise Metz

Hello,
I saw your message tonight and thought I'd let you know that we appear to have the same ancestor in Joseph! I think he was my 3x Gt Grandfather (my family come down through the line of Joseph's son John).
I have found Mary & Joseph's grave in Bradfield churchyard and have posted a photo of it on my tree. I've also been through the records that they have at the Bradfield Records office, but haven't found Mary's maiden name either, but I've been doing this now for a number of years on and off, so haven't given up yet!
Please feel free to have a look at my tree if it helps.
Nice to know that at long last there is someone else out there who has the same ancestor.

Kind regards

Helen Charlesworth

Re: Byron Charlesworth, US Merchant Marine

My father, Fenwick, and grandfather, Alfred, appear on the 1930 census living with Byronin Annapolis. Alfred is mistakenly identified as Byron on the census return, but I've corrected that within Ancestry's records.

I have a picture of Byron and my father taken at the Hilda Hume studios in Liverpool, England, probably around Sep 1944. I recently visited his grave in Beverly NJ to pay my respects, and have pictures of his grave.

You may be aware that Byron's father, John Rollings Charlesworth, had 3 children by his first marriage to Mary Ann Burton: Alfred, Helen and Charles. Alfred and helen were raised in the UK, and Charles was raised by John Rollings in America. Byron is the eldest child of John's his marriage to his second wife, Isis, and has younger siblings Isis, Kenneth, John and Robert.

I'm a descendent of Alfred and am in contact with descendents of Helen and Charles. The descendents of John Rollings and Mary Burton got together in Dayton OH last month for a reunion. We're planning a 2011 reunion in the UK. My wife and I are planning to visit John Rollings' grave in Delta CO next year as part of our research.

I'm based in the UK, and my cousin Donna is based in the USA. We're collaborating on researching the family history. As a family we've lost track of Byron, his siblings and their descendants and would dearly love to re-establish contact. My email address is phil.charlesworth@gmail.com and I'd be very pleased to hear from you, and exhange information anmd pictures. Donna would be equally thrilled.

Phil

My Charlesworth ancestor is John Miles Charlesworth, born in 1760, immigrated with his family to America from England sometime before the Revolutionary War, and enlisted in Washington's Army as a fifer in 1776, when he was about 16 years old. I do not have his parents' names yet, but he married Margaret Lipe in 1783, and they lived in or near Canajoharrie. He died in 1815 or 1816. Does he sound like he could also be your ancestor? I have more information on him, including his children,if you think he is your man.

Jackie Bedwel

Maggie, I hope you are still checking Ancestry for a reply, because I am writing this on June 17, 2010. I am fairly new on Ancestry, and this is the first time I have checked the message board.

We are related. Your John Miles matches my John Miles Charlesworth--same spouse, Margaret Lipe, and almost the same death date, ours is 28 Apr 1816. Ours came from England, also, and his father was Sir John Charlesworth.

My grandmother, Eva Charlesworth Leneker, researched her ancestry back to them as well as others in order to be admitted into the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She did this back in the early years of the 20th century. Her data is given on the DAR website. John Miles Charlesworth was a sergeant in the Revolutionary War under "Major Capt. Fowler, Colonel Livingston, and Colonel Van Cortlandt." He served in the 2nd and 4th New York Regiments. According to my Grandmother's data, he was born in 1760 in England, married Margaret Lipe on 2 July 1783, and died in Minden, Montgomery County, New York on the date I typed above.

If you have more information or want to connect with me, let's collaborate. I descend from John Miles's son Daniel, his son Charles, and his son John, who was my grandmother's father. Margaret Lipe's father was Johanes Lipe. That is all I know so far about her.

I hope we can correspond.

Jackie Bedwell
email: jackie@bedwells.net

I'm trying to track down the family of Byron Charlesworth. Born 1890 in Texas, died 1949 in the Philadephia area. He shows up in the 1930 census in Annapolis MD with my father and grandfather staying with him. The last contact we had with him was in 1944 when he met my dad in Liverpool, England.

If you're a descenedant of Byron I'd like to hear from you to re-establish contact with that part of the Charlesworth family.

Jane Ann Charlesworth is the eldest daughter of Nathan Charlesworth and Hannah Howard -- she had lots of brothers and sisters -- she moved to Cattaragus county NY in 1841 with her younger brothers mother and father and married Angus McDuffie -- the McDuffies are a very old American family related to original Dutch settlers in NY -- let me know if you would like more info... Jane Anne was born in Cheshire, UK. I am still looking for the parents and siblings of Nathan Charlesworth and Hannah Howard.

My copy of the Charlesworth genealogy was given to the Sonoma County Public Library's genealogy annex at Santa Rosa, CA at the time of my retirement and move to the midwest. They have a fine collection of books and staff are very helpful. Possibly you could borrow the book via the Interlibrary Loan system. Ask your local librarian. The area code for their telephone would be 707, but I do not have the direct phone number for you. Try searching via www.whitepages.com or www.switchboard.com for their phone number.

You are correct about the book citation. Langdon, the dear soul, provided much of the more complicated research in the book. My father, however, was NOT any kind of a doctor. He did not even have a bachelor degree. Lifelong interest in family history so if that makes a doctor all of us here make that grade. It was a self published book. My father died in 2002. My mother lives in Minnesota now with one of my brothers.

Hi, Not one of mine, nearest I can get is 1824 but I know he stayed in the Hepworth area and didn't have a son called Jonathan. I notice on the IGI there is a William born to William and Elizabeth in 1818, is this yours? There is a marriage entry for a William Charlesworth to Betty née Kaye in 1798 at Kirkburton, their son David born 1806 at Foster Place, Hepworth married one of my family.
Best wishes
Tina Charlesworth
