Well, it's not "my own" research, but I like the site because you can do family trees pretty quickly.

This starts with Abraham Chase & Catherine Rogers in PEC and moves forward. A lot of the info came from Ancestry Ontario Births, Marriages & Deaths records. Under the "C"s of course.

http://wyght.tribalpages.com

Does anyone have any information on their parents names? This seems to be as far back as I can trace that line.

Albert was born in Vermont in 1843 - Maria was born in Ireland 1848. They had children Adaline, Edith, Harvey and Frances. In 1870 they were living in Lowell Ward 3, Mass, with Adaline who was 1 year old. Can't confirm anything farther back than this, any help? Also, their son Harvey married "Bridget Rourke" who was born in Ireland - however I can't seem to find out her parents names either!

Thanks for any insight!

My grandfather was Floyd Chase, he was born august 3, 1912 in Clinton Iowa. I was wondering if maybe there could be a connection. I don't know a lot about my grandfather's past. I know he had at least one sister, her name was Bessie. He was married to Gretchen Petrie and they had 4 children. If anyone knows if there might be a connection please contact me by email at
dsk-pinkham@home.com Thank You.

Chase Wetherbee Hurd 1870 - 1880

The board search function is not working correctly so I am posting this with apologizes if it is already addressed in another posting.

I am looking for information on a Charles Wallace Hurd b. 5-8-1868 in Saginaw MI to a Harriet L. Hurd

Census searches and a faint memory of Charles being said to have been adopted has led me to beleive he is the Wallace Hurd refered to in the following:

The 1870 census lists a Cyrus Wetherbee 59 and Hanna Wetherbee 37 living in Macomb County MI with children: Wallace Hurd age 2 & Mary 15, Sirus(?) 13, Edwin 9 and Isabel 8.

A Gilbert D. Chase 25 and a Lynda Wetherbee 24 were married in Detroit, MI on May 19, 1875.

The 1880 Detroit MI census lists a Gilbert D. Chase 31 and Harriet Chase 30 living with 3 children: Wallace 13, William 11 and Edna 4.

Wallace's age is correct in both censuses and Gilbert & Harriet's ages in the 1880 census corespond to the Chase/Wetherbee marriage in Detroit, but based on the marriage date, Wallace and William are too old to have been legitimate so, they may have came from a prior marriage of Gilbert or Harriet or they are adopted. Harriet L. Hurd, Lynda Wetherbee and Harriet Chase may be the same person. Does anyone have any information about a Hurd living with a Chase family around this time? Can someone advise this family's location after 1880 and if a Hurd was still living with them? Thanks in advance.
John Darwin Chase

I am a descendant of John Darwin Chase (b.1815, d.1902, son of Abner Chase and Amy Scott) and his first wife, Priscilla McHenry. According to my information, Priscilla and an infant son did not come to Utah with John and the Mormon pioneers. I would like any information anyone might have about her and this child. Also, there is a Darwin Chase who is mentioned in several prominent records in LDS Church history during the Missouri period. Some sources say that this is John Darwin Chase. However, my records show that my grandfather, John Darwin Chase, was baptized into the LDS Church in New York after the Missouri period and that he came directly to Nauvoo. I would appreciate any information that anyone could share with me. Thank you. Camille Dowler

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of "Harry, Carrie (Rowe) and Charles Chase”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Sioux City (Woodbury Co.) IA, and parents look to be about 25-30, while baby Charles is about 5 months old.

I found Carrie M. Chase, a widow, living with her three children in Salem (Marion Co.) OR, in the 1910 census. She was age 33, born IL. Children were Charles R., age 8, born IA; with brother Eugene, age 3, and Martha, age 6, both born OR. By the 1930 census, Carrie, Eugene and Martha still lived in Marion Co., OR, and living with them was Carrie’s mother, Minerva Rowe, age 81. I went back to 1900 census, and found Carrie, single, with birthdate Dec 1876, living with Christopher and Minerva Rowe in Sac City (Sac Co.) IA.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Harry, Carrie (Rowe) or Charles Chase.

Aaron Warren Chase was born June 15, 1840 in New York. He died January 14, 1913 in Hutchinson, Reno, Kansas. He is buried at Eastside Cemetery in Hutchinson. Aaron was married to a Elizabeth Hill in New York. He was later married to a great-Grandmother of mine--Estella Elzora Shatto. He was married lastly to a Mary C. Biebly.
CHASE Family of Boston area, founders of NECCO Candy Co.

New England Confectionery Company(NECCO)history on various websites says that their company was started when Oliver R. CHASE received a patent in 1847 for a "Lozenge Cutter" machine, which they claim is the very first candy manufacturing machine in the country.

The NECCO company is the oldest continuous running candy company still in business and with many of the same products. NECCO Wafers, Sky Bar, and others are still made.

I do not believe that they are likely in my CHASE family line, but I am interested in determining just where this family fits in to the CHASE's in America.

From preliminary research on the web, it appears as though there were at least three brothers involved; Silas L. CHASE b.c.1811, Daniel G. CHASE b.c.1819, and Oliver R. CHASE b.c.1821. They all seem to have resided in or around the Boston area of Mass.

There may be another brother, (purely speculation,) by the name of Lewson who was born about the same time in Mass. and who went South to Virginia, a school teacher in 1850.

The name Lewson shows up in some of the reported descendants of Silas, so I suspect a familial tie.

I have gathered some data on a few of these people, mostly from census and City directories, and would like to correspond with anyone else interested.

Dick Hillenbrand
Upstate New York Genealogy
www.unyg.com
I am researching the Chase side of my family and would love to connect with others researching the same family line. The line I am researching would start with my grgr grandparents James Chase (b. 1860-d.1942) and Berthia Bell (b.1860-d.1892), who came to Canada from the States in 1884. They were both from England. I do believe James' brother Thomas had came later on to join them. James later on remarried in 1892 when Berthia died to an Emily (Smith?).

James & Berthia's Children:
George
John William
Violet May - lived just over a year
James Fredrick

James & Emily's Children:
Violet May - lived 4 months
Nathanual
Walter - Died at Vimy Ridge (no family)
Sydney
Ivy

If this is part of your family tree I would love to hear from.

Thanks -- Lorrie

Alvin Wood Chase, b.1817, wife Martha, b.1823, lived Ann Arbor, MI

I have two original carte de visite photographs of “A. W. Chase – sister of Matilda Norton” and “Mrs. Dr. A. W. Chase”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photos were taken in Ann Arbor (Washtenaw Co.) MI, and each of them looks to be in their early to late 40s.

I found the family of Alvin W. Chase, age 42, in the 1860 census for Ann Arbor, MI, showing he was a physician. Wife was Martha, age 37, and both were born in NY. They had three daughters and a son, Ernest, in 1860. In 1880, Alvin and Martha were still living in Ann Arbor, MI. The AGBI shows that Alvin’s middle name was Wood, and he was born in 1817 in NY. There is some relation between this family and the Waddleton and Ramsdell families, of Sterling (Whiteside Co.) IL.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Alvin W. or Martha Chase.

Minnie Chase -- please help me find her

Hi, I have a great-grandmother, Minnie Chase who left our family back many many year ago (probably between 1913 and 1920.) She was married to William (Hank/Bill) Dean in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada and had 2 daughters. When she left them, we understand that she moved eventually to New York state and had another family there. I believe she would've been born around the turn of the century (1880's or 1890's) and we were told she died in the 1970's although we don't know.

Could anyone please help? Her daughter is now 86 years old and will probably soon pass over. It would be wonderful for me to be able to find out about her before her daughter passes away (the other one already has.)

L. Wilson
lmwilson@sprint.ca

Re: Parents of Emeline B. Fuller at Yarmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts

Does anyone have info on an Eliza Ann Chase born about 1814 married first to a William Fuller; William must have died prior to January 6, 1842 when Eliza re-married to Vinney Crowell. These folks lived at Yarmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Vinney was born 1814, died after 1880. I would also like to know who his parents were.

I feel certain someone must know who Eliza's parents were as well as who William Fuller's parents were. I know for sure that William Fuller and Eliza had a daughter Emeline B. Fuller born 1834, but did they have other children as well? Emeline B. Fuller married James M. Swift in 1864, and may have been his second (or third?) wife.

I found this bit of info online today and now am wondering if this is same William and Eliza? Does anyone have any additional info re: family of origin for this Loring Fuller?
This excerpt taken from "History of Barnstable County, Massachusetts.: 1620-1637-1686-1890": page 494

Loring Fuller born in 1831 is one of nine sons of William and Eliza (Chase) Fuller, and a grandson of William Fuller. He has been a seafaring man since he was ten years old. Since 1866 he has run a packet from South Yarmouth in connection with the grain and coal store of Loring Fuller & Co. he was married in 1853 to Mary C. Ryder. They have three children: Joseph W. who married Clara E. Hurst in 1876; Lizzie B., Mrs. C. F. Purrington (I take it this is Lizzie B.), and Mernie L. (Mercy?)

Note from Nora- on 1880 census his daughters were Lizzie and Mercy.

Any help greatly appreciated,

Nora

William Edward Chase born in NY abt. 1885

I have been searching endlessly for any information regarding my great grandfather William Edward Chase, he was married to Florence Bishop and they had a son John L born in 1906. Unfortunatley, Florence died in 1908 and William apparently left for California and John was raised by his maternal grandparents. His name was changed to John Lawrence Bishop. The only info I have on Wm E Chase was that he was several years younger than his wife, was kicked out of West Point, and was from a family of considerable stature in New York society.

to the descendants of Anthony & Katherine Sewell Chase of MA

contact me for further information and see this entry below
Quite some time ago I received an query from a Sewell researher looking to connect with the New England Sewell's an Ancestor by the name of John Sewell found in Virginia Of interest, one of his son's was a Timothy Sewell.

I found the land record of sale for John Sewell (written as Suel) to Robert Aldrich MA Land Records, South Worcester, Book 41, pg 427.

This John Sewell was born Lynn, Essex Co., MA on March 22, 1716 to Timothy (Timothy Sewall of Boston) and Elizabeth Jeffrey Sewell (their marriage intentions also Lynn 1716). Biological mother, Elizabeth died before 1735 when Timothy Sewell & Bridget Lyndsey anounced intentions 30 June 1735, Mendon Worcester Co., MA to marry. Elizabeth was buried on property with dwelling house that Timothy Sewell sold to David Boyce in 1740. The place where she was buried was exempted from the sale.

Timothy Sewell died with will 1753 Mendon, Worcester Co., MA. His heirs were wife Bridget, sons John and Joseph, and daughters Elizabeth (Sewell) Gibson (2nd wife to William Gibson of Hopkinton, Middlesex Co., MA m 1751 and listed as Elizabeth (from Mendon) Rines in the vital records), Margaret (Sewell) Sherman (husband, Elkanah Sherman m. Smithfield, Providence Co., RI), Katherine Sewell (married Anthony Chase Cumberland, Providence Co., RI 1754), Rebekah Sewell (married Lemuel Lewis prior to 1758), and Anna Sewell (husband William Soule m. after June 1762).

John's land record of 1759 clearly states that he was the resident of "can't read the county name" county in the Colony of Virginia; clearly states the sale land set off to his mother Bridget Sewell by honorable father, Tim Sewell...Anthony Chase is a witness to the transaction in the conveyance to Robert Aldrich of Cumberland, Providence Co., RI.

It can be assumed that Bridget Lyndsey Sewell died prior to 1758 as Joseph Sewell, Elkanah & Margaret Sewell Sherman, Lemuel and Rebekah Sewell Lewis all residing in Beekman Precinct, Dutchess Co., New York in 1758 and Anthony and Catherine Sewell Chase residing in Mendon, Worcester Co., MA 1758 all sold their land at the same time to Robert Aldrich. 1759 William and Elizabeth (Sewell) Gibson residing in Hopkinton, Middlesex Co., MA sold their land to Robert Aldrich (the same)

And now we have the land record for John Sewell listed in the land records as Suel to Aldrich 1759 residing in the Colony of Virginia.

I have yet to transcribe the entire record as it is written quill/ink in the old script, but I did transcribe enough of it to share these particulars. On most important interest in the transcription (if possible) is the Virginia county in which this John Sewell resided at the time of the sale.

Regards, Susan Hedeen

Henry Osimer Chase, b. 1832 in NY

I am hoping that someone can help me confirm the ancestry of Henry Osimer Chase, b. 4/24/1832 In Franklin Co. NY. He married Angeline Azeltine, b. 1837 in Clinton Co. NY. and died in Grundy Co. IA in 1899. Henry Osimer Chase is my GGGG-grandfather.

I found him on the 1850 cencus in Chateaugay NY,listed as the son of James and Sally Chase. In addition, 2 brothers are listed, Orin and Oscar. Another brother appears to live up the road a bit, James H. Chase.

Further research found James H. Chase on the NY Genweb listed as the son of James Chase and Sally Claghorn. I then found James Chase, b. Sep 2 1794 in Worchester Co. Ma listed on the Familyhistory.org website with his wife, Sally Claghorn, as the son of Simeon Chase and Jemima Holden. Plugged this into my family tree at Ancestry.com and it pops up with another family tree that shows Simeon Chase to be the son of Moses Chase, 1737 - 1814, who's father is Bennoni Chase, son Moses Chase, 1663 -1743, who is listed as the son of - yup, you probably guessed it already, Aquila Chase and Ann Wheeler. Familyhistory.org pretty much mirrors this until we get back to Bennoni Chase. At that point, the thread disappears is no information about the descendants of Bennoni Chase and his wife, Mary Rodgers.

So, I am trying to make a conclusive link between James Chase to Simeon Chase to Moses Chase to Bennoni Chase. Once I get this worked out I will work on the Bennoni to Moses to Aquila, though from what I am reading at the genforum on Genealogy.com, that might create more questions then answers.

Any help and information is sincerely appreciated.

John Chase/Alice Harding

This is Information I have located:

Buckinghamshire: Chesham - Parish Register, 1538-1636 Maried Maried September County: Buckinghamshire Country: England John Chaase & Alice daught. of Richard Harding of Slowland 28 Sep 1573

Now my problem is most trees list John being born abt 1455 and Alice Harding being born abt 1462. Now also in this list is a John being baptized 30 Dec 1540 to Thomas Chase and that Thomas Chase buried his wife Elizabeth 2 Oct 1569. Now maybe I have found the wrong John Chase and Alice Harding but the children listed as being baptised to this couple seem to fit the Chase trees I've reviewed only the dates are way off.

Does anyone have ideas on this? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
