Albert is pictured in the Class 30 yearbook of the Medical Replacement Training Center at Camp Barkeley near Abilene, Texas. I'm not kin but thought this might help someone researching the family.

my grandmothers family came from this area, he was samuel (sam)the family came from sussex early 1800's and they were chatten then, i would be greatfull for any input if this means anything to anyone

The names Gillespie and/or Gillispey are in
the Inverness records in Scotland listed as
connected to Clan McPherson which in turn is
a member name of the higher order Clan Chatton.The surname Archibald is connected to
Clan McPherson through Gillespie(y).The gaelic spelling for Archibald is interesting
as Guilleasbuig would be pronounced gillespy.
I can't help you on the names you cite,but if
you use a search engine to look for Scottish Clans you should find a wealth of data.Clan
Gillespie has one tartan,a hunting tartan.Clan McPherson has both dress and a
hunting Tartan so I would expect that the
dress tartan would be worn by both names at a
gathering.
