My ancestors are George Cheadle (b.1699) and his wife Martha Burgess. They were born and lived in Ashford CT. John Cheadle was born and died in Virginia. So I don't think there is a father-son connection there. They may be related more distantly. If you have any info on George Cheadle please post it. I can't find his parents.

Diane, my grandfather Albert Edward Cheadle, was the brother of Victor Cheadle. My grandfather Albert emigrated to Canada from Cheshire, England around 1925, and settled in Leamington Ontario. My understanding is that your grandfather Vic was already in Michigan around the start of WW1, and crossed the border to join the Canadian army (before the US was involved). Mary Elizabeth Cheadle (Bradley), sister of Vic and Albert also settled near Leamington. Other siblings of Vic, Albert and Mary that I am aware of included Thomas (killed in WW1), Frank, Alphonso, Bernard.

Also in the book "INDIAN TERRITORY DESCRIPTIVE BIOGRAPHICAL AND GENEALOGICAL INCLUDING THE Landed Estates, Count Y Seats etc. WITH A GENERAL HISTORY OF THE TERRITORY BY D. C. GIDEON" published 1901.

pp. 660 & 661 (volume 2).
Under the section about Steven Walker Ryan (her husband).

It states that she is the daughter of Thomas and Rebecca (Riddle) Cheadle.

This has lead me to believe that she is the daughter of Thomas Fleming Cheadle, Jr and Rebecca "Betsy" Riddle.

Also earlier in the book:

pp. 496 & 497 (vol 1)
Under Martin Vanburen Cheadle it indicates that he is the son of Thomas Fleming and Rebecca (Riddle) Cheadle.

Most of the Cheadle Family Trees for Thomas F Cheadle, Jr and Rebecca Riddle don't show Carrie Cheadle my records indicate that she was born Oct 12, 1858 Tishomingo, Indian Territory, Chicksaw nation. She was 1/2 Chickasaw. She died before Dawes Rolls were finalized. Her brother Martin Vanburen Cheadle also shows up as 1/2 chicksaw. Her children show up on the Dawes Rolls as 1/4 Chickasaw.

Carrie's Birthday comes to me from Family Records she and Steven Walker Ryan where my GG Grandparents.
Samuel Lee Wray and Serena Bell Ryan where my Great Grandparents.

Re: Hannah Cheadle married to Thomas Burch

From what I can piece together based on research of others and records posted...

Hannah's first husband was Richens Brame, and both families were well documented in books written about Virginia. If you do not have a subscription, you won't be able to see these, but let me know if I can provide additional information - I'm hoping what I found is accurate and will point you in the right direction. Anyway... they married 15 May 1716 in Christ Church, VA, and had 5 children. Richens died in 1722, before the birth of their last child together.

Hannah married Thomas Burch in 1727 in Caroline, VA. It's going to take a bit of work to sort out children for this pair - there are quite a few attributed to them in compiled family tree hints, but it appears that several generations of Thomases got incorrectly connected as spouses of their parents, etc. Anyone with accurate records, if you can help me clean up what I've attached so far, it would be greatly appreciated, as my husband is a direct descendant of this couple.

I haven't gotten back further yet but will advise when I do.

CHOCTAW ELIAS RECTOR CHEADLE

ELIAS RECTOR CHEADLE was born in Gaines County, Choctaw Nation, in 1859, . He attended the neighborhood school until the age of twenty one years. He is the third son of the late JAMES STEWARD CHEADLE, who was County Judge of Coal County, Choctaw Nation, and District Judge of the Chickasaw Nation for one term.

RECTOR married MARY HARKINS in 1889. She is the daughter of COL. G.W. HARKINS, of Chickasaw fame.

Mrs. Cheadle, a beautiful and accomplished young lady, died in less than half a year after her marriage.

Mr. Cheadle was admitted to the bar in 1890, and being a very brilliant young man, has undoubtedly a bright career before him. He is an old Mason for so young a man, and has held the office of Secretary of South Canadian Lodge No. 22, for quite a length of time.

He owns one thousand, four hundred and fifty acres of farm land, of which four hundred and fifty acres are under cultivation; also four hundred head of stock cattle, seventy five head of horses and mules, and two hundred head of hogs.

Besides these he holds one third interest in four rich coal claims on the M. K. & T. Railroad.

On his mothers side Mr. Cheadle belongs to the Oka-la0fa-lay-a clean, while his father was a Chicksaw of the house of Cush-ke-re.

When only eight years of age the late Mrs. Cheadle went to Bloomfield academy. At the expiration of her school career in 1885, at the age of sixteen, she was appointed music teacher by the superintendent at the institution, and three years afterwards held the same position in the Chickasaw Male Academy, until she married Elias Rector Cheadle, of South Canadian.

She was remarkable not only for her amiable disposition and refinement of manner, but for her many antural talents. She was an excellent musician and an artist with both pencil and brush. She died May 26, 1889, four months after her marriage.

This would mean that he is not shown on the final roll that is available to me, but he may well have been enrolled. Additions and new births, etc. that came after the closing of the roll is information not available for public viewing. If this is the coprrect family I would suggest that you get the enrollment applications/jacket for this family, it could provide you with more information.

There is also a Matin Cheadle, a Choctaw freedman with an age of 18........but not with the above family.

Good Luck in your search

<a href="http://www.kwoneenee@yahoo.com" target="_blank">www.kwoneenee@yahoo.com!

Searching for information about the arrival of George Cheadle from England about 1720. Stories say he came on the ship Increase with his brother Tom. George married Martha Burge in 1721 in Ashford, Conn.

Researchers in Pomfret, Yorkshire, England say there are no Cheadle, Chedels in the parish registers.

Has anyone researched in Cheshire county where there are two towns named Cheadle?

An article I got from the web........entitled "A History of the State of Oklahoma 1908"...states that Stephen Walker Ryan married Carrie Cheadle, daughter of Thomas Cheadle, an old time resident of the territory. At her death in 1894, she was survived by the following children : Serena Bell, wife of Samuel L. Wray, of Terral: Daisy, wife of William B. Wray, of Ryan; Thomas, of Ryan who married Miley Brown; Ada, wife of Don Campbell; Gussie, wife of Walter Morris, of Ryan; and Elbert..........
Earlier it says that Stephen Walker Ryan married a Chickasaw......so assume he meant the Cheadles were Indians....the small town of Ryan, Oklahoma is named after Stephen Walker Ryan....
