Detailed information can be found on this family back to the 1640's in Plymouth Mass. in the book ( Churchill Family in America.) Hi I have some details about Churchill marriages in England, Somerset for that period. Our branch then moves to Pontypool and spreads through South Wales and some branch back into England again.

For the period you are looking at the key figure is Henry Churchill who married Elizabeth Gane in 1838 in Clutton of Somerset. I have info on other Churchill family members and can go back further than this.

I am trying to find out if the above man served in WW1 as he would have been only 33-34 when the war started.I know his marriage broke down around 1909 and he moved to Brighton to live where he stayed for the rest of his life.He was my late husband grandfather and he died apparently in 1956 in Brighton.Apart from knowing he moved to brighton to live I know very little about him I do know he worked on the railways as a fitter

I recently bought two photos identified as Frances Millie Churchill. She was born in Henderson, Knox Cty, IL and was the daughter of Carolus Churchill b. 1791. She was the sister of Lucinda, Hannah, Arvilla/Aurelia, Franklin/Francis Marion, Inez, Zella, and Elizabeth Churchill.
One photo is a photo postcard with another young woman.
The other is a formal photo by W. L. Lee of York, Nebraska.
The back says "Poppa's sister near Galesburg, IL.

I have photo images of the personal information from a 1803 Bible with the surnames, Churchill, Fearo, Bullard, Dickson, etc.
They appear to be from the Plymouth/ So. Boston area of Massachusetts. There are many marriage, birth and death records. I would be glad to send copies to anyone researching these family name combinations.
This bible was purchased years ago at a Ely, Nevada rummage sale by an individual whose name I have lost. He sent them to me when he noticed I was researching Bullards. The Bullards were from the wrong line, but his generosity needs repayment by offering this information to others.
I have attached the 2 Churchill pages below for all to have and share. Sorry, I have not checked this board sooner.

Dorothy J. Blazejeski (Skonieczka) Churchill, age 92, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at the Manchester Presbyterian Lodge.
She resided in Erie.pa,
She was born in Erie,pa. March 9, 1919.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Skonieczka and Veronica M. Balbuza and her birth father, Constantine Blazejeski. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Churchill; a brother, Leonard Skonieczka; and two sisters, Josephine Dobrowolski and Elizabeth "Betty" Schultz. Dorothy is survived by her son, Duane E. Churchill and his wife, Jill, of Fairview, Pa.; four grandchildren, Bryan Churchill and his wife, Amy, Julie Small and her husband, John, Robert Jelinek, and Stephen Jelinek; four great-grandchildren, Carly, Adam, Lorelei, and Vivyan; along with many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R. C. Church. She enjoyed playing cards and classical music. Friends may call at the Mark G. Razanauskas Funeral Home, 701 East Avenue, Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. where a prayer service will be conducted Friday afternoon at 12:50, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Achievement Center, 101 East 6th Street, P. O. Box 1506, Erie, PA 16507.

I have done some work on my Family Tree on both sides, but tend to give up when reaching a 'brick wall'! However the Genealogy sites are very helpful. Henry B. Churchill and Margaret Churchill were my grandparents; the 1951 born Leslie Churchill is their grandson. He is a first cousin to me. His father was also named Leslie, but obviously born much earlier.

Hmm, so close we must be connected somewhere...
My Asahel was born in 1754 and was married to Eunice Piney. I also have an Eliza but she is the daughter of Elisha and was born 1826 in NY. They were in Tioga county as well, so I sure there is a connection!!There is a book called the Churchills in America which I have gotten a lot of information from. I also have a huge box of documents that I got on a trip that I need to get into the computer, as soon as I get my hard drive back from the computer guy- it crashed! Well, I wish you luck and at some point we will find a connection! Nora

Joel was the son of Samuel and Lydia (Small) Churchill. He was married to Betsy Belle Carter on May 27 1880 in Chippewa Co. WI. After Betsys death he was married to Clara (Clark) McDonald on Nov 17 1904 in Chppewa County WI. He had several children by Betsy.-------from Find A Grave.com Joel died Dec 24 1917.

William Churchill (b. NY 1795) was the son of Asahel Churchill (b. 1769 MA). William had a daughter, Eliza Churchill, (b. May 6 1819,Caroline,Tioga co. NY). This Eliza was married to William Cobb who was in a different branch of my Cobb family. Their children were William Jr.,Emma, Angie, and Theodore. They lived in Spring Mills, Allegany co. NY.

Winston Churchill and his Daughter

I have traced Winston Churchill's daughter, actress Sarah Churchill, to Rochester NY and to the Clark/Churchill cemetery lot at Mount Hope Cemetery in Rochester NY. It's lot L-1a about 75 yards from Susan B Anthony.

I believe this is the same Churchill family connected to Meriwether Lewis Clark, the son of Explorer Willam Clark, married Abby Churchill.

This leads to the Croghan/Churchill family in Pittsburgh connected to Nicholas Roosevelt a riverboat captain in Pittsburgh around the early 1800's.

I am looking for records that this can't be possible.

It is very likely that Priscilla Churchill was related to the Churchill family of Fort Churchill near Virgina City Navada. In turn they were related to Winston Churchill of England and his daughter actress Sarah Churchill of Rochester NY.

My grandfather was Lester Churchill born in Nebraska his father was James Churchill born abt1848 in Canada and married Emma R. Blake in Wisc.
James parents are the ones I am having trouble with. His father was John Churchill and his mother Martha. That is all I have been able to find out about them.

Hi,I have a William Churchill born around 1866/67 in Newfoundland. He moved to Ontario and m. an Anne. He is listed in the 1901 census as being a Master Mariner, and the family is living in Victoria, B.C. A William Churchill is listed as being a witness at my grandfather's wedding in Toronto, 1892, the other witness was a Lydia Churchill who was not William's wife, but may have been the daughter of Ezra Churchill's lst wife, a Pico, Ezra was a merchant in Portugal Cove. My grandfather was James (Jim) Gillett (Gillott) born 1868 to Sarah Ann Gillett (nee Moulton) of Pouch Cove. Sarah Ann moved to Portugal Cove after James drowned, she re-married Ezra Churchill.

Anyone with an interest in this topic is welcome to join.

The rule of Y-DNA triangulation is that you have to have matching Y-DNA from direct paternal line descendants of two sons to confirm the father. It has been reported that Robert "King" Carter had four sons who produced grandsons:

- John Carter (married Elizabeth Hill)
- Robert Carter (married Priscilla Churchill)
- Charles Carter (married Mary Walker, Anne Byrd)
- Landon Carter (married Elizabeth Wormeley, Elizabeth Beale)

Matching Y-DNA from direct paternal line descendants of any two of these four sons will give the Y-DNA of Robert "King" Carter.
