Ruth Baker Chute Woods was my grandmother; Dixie was my aunt, younger sister to my mother Betty Marie. Their brother Jack died of TB when they were quite young. Ruth married Buell Woods, who had one daughter. What is your relationship or interest in the Chute family? I'm new to this!

Dear Janet
Further to my reply to yours: if the gentleman to whom you refer is still interested in tracing the Chutes of Tullygarron, and still looks for information, you might tell him that I shall be staying for a few days in June in the Parknasilla Hotel near Sneem in Kerry, and I can (if forewarned) bring copies of what material I have, including copies of the relevant pages of my book with several photos of Chute Hall past and present. He can then arrange a meeting if he wants to, and take what papers he wants - if any! Having said that, there are huge gaps in the Irish family history, so I can't guarantee to answer all his questions.
My e-mail is fcchute@madasafish.com if that is an easier way of communicating personal arrangements.
Yours Francis Chute

Dear Francis, many thanks for the reference, I will pass it on to the gentleman concerned. I checked Irish libraries and your publication does not seem to be available. You might consider sending a copy to Kerry County Library who might in turn consider purchasing copies for local branches. Janet

Dear Janet, I'm probably way out of date, having only now come across your 2010 query. But if you still lack a photo of Chute Hall you might look on pp.147 and 153 of my book "The Chutes of The Vyne" (which has several pages on the Chutes of Kerry). 2 years ago Steve Chute (in Canada) visited the site of the demolished mansion and brought back a mass of new photos and the story of what has recently happened to the house; if you need this data you might e-mail him on stevechewte@yahoo.com and say what you need.
Cheers, Francis Chute (in England)

You're right, the two children you mentioned were adopted, unfortunately neither of them are still living. My grandfather was Donald (Patrick) Tupper.

There are many Clarks in the Chute family tree. Some connected directly by marrying into the Chute family and some have married cousins or other relatives. The records I am currently working with does not have much information on the Clark families that did marry into the family, but I do find more info. I will let you know.

He grew up in Hamilton, Ma. and build a house next door to where he grew up right over the line in Essex. Although I think they were in Wenham first.

Hi Cousin Allen

My 4th Gr Grandfather was Fisher Mann ... I got lucky in my research as Casco Maine, and found a family history in the town hall (a manuscript) which included my grandmother, Cathleen Mann. Through that I was able to establish my line up to Fisher, and to his Father Obediah --- and back through the Wrentham line to William Man the immigrant (Newtown/Cambridge 1634).

Have you been able to publish your work??? I would be very happy to share what I have, and proof read if you have started any family articles.

I decided to do an "article" on each of my eight great-grandparents. I have four "english colonial" ancestry lines, and four "european immigrant" lines. I have two articles done, and I would like to get more information for my next article on Eugene Mann, born Casco, Maine 1868.

Please contact me at lizkolster@gmail.com when you get a chance for further discussion.

Kind regards,

Liz Kolster
Watertown, MA

Oh so you have to let me know when your planing on coming up and hopefully you can bring lots of pictures of your mom and the family growing up? If not then we can email them to each other? You know the only way I am going to find out anything about Elsie is to go to Main and visit their archives because there system up there is so wacked its not funny. I have never heard of the native american angle as of yet but that would be so cool if it were true!! I have searched the archives here and found just about everything I could but there wasn't too much on them at all. Talk to you soon Pam!!
Stephen

I didn't know you were planning to meet with my mom. I've never met your mom but my sister Gerry remembers your mom and kids. My Aunt Sis (Married to Earnest Bailey) ended up living in Rhode Island also. Her daughter Millie Bailey lives in RI with her kids (Middletown?). I live in Florida but I am planning to come up in August so I'd love to meet you. My mom did have a lot of stories, remember she was the youngest and 20 years younger than Mildred. I remember Millie McCarthy McDonnell. You know Sandra MacKerron is my cousin on both sides. She was raised with your dad but her biological father was my dad's brother Bernard. She was wacko and I think she lives in NH. When I saw Wallie he said she still wasn't talking to him. My mom was so mad at her because after she reconnected with her Dad, she married someone and invited my dad to her wedding (my dad and mom were divorced) and never asked my mom who was really good to her her whole life. My dad could have cared less. Anyway I'm rambling, so I'll let you go but whatever info you need let me know and If I know it I'll send it back. Have you been able to determine if Conrad Bailey's mother was an American Indian. My mom said that her whole life that her grandmother was native american? Let me know

Thank you very much Pam for your condolences...He was pretty cool I must say. Oh this is so great to find you!! Did you know that just before your Mom passed away me and my mother Adelaide were planning to meet with her?

I was looking for so much of the family history that she had locked away in her head so my Mom said she would be the one to talk with. Another missed opportunity on my part, it seems when ever I get close to finding out so much they leave too soon.

So I believe a meeting between us would be very beneficial to say the least!!!! LOL!! Let me know your thoughts on that Pam, I think it would be pretty nice! I live in Rhode Island but I can make the trip no problem at all if you think its a good thing?

Take care hun hope to hear from you soon!!

Stephen

I am so sorry that your dad (Wallie) past away. I saw him at my sister Kathleens funeral 2 years ago. I am so sorry. My mom had 4 children, she married twice, the first time to Jeremiah McCarthy, so she had Kathleen & Geraldine and then to my dad Angus Mackerron and there is me, Pam and my brother Al. Even though your grandmother married Bill McCarthy, he and Jeremiah were not related. Your grandmother was 20 years older than my mom and I knew her and Bill, and Wallie, Millie and Billie. This is so interesting because I just started to do this. If you want, more info about anything, I can tell you what I remember. I'm going home from work now so let me know and its nice meeting you. Pam MacKerron Cherry

the following may be of use to chute researchers.

south durham herald
west hartlepool
saturday 23 october 1875

on saturday last, mr coroner settle held an inquest at hartlepool, on the body of a man named patrick chute, who had been killed on the previous day while endeavouring to stop a runaway horse belonging to the north eastern railway company. it appeared that about half past two o'clock a horse drawing one of the company's rolleys, laden with wood, suddenly took fright at the sound of an engine, and dashed from the goods warehouses through the embankment near the ship inn, galloping down the embankment in the direction of the docks. as it reached mr markham's residence the deceased rushed at the animal's head and stopped it; but unfortunately he was pushed violently between the shaft of the rolley and a post. he was most severely injured, as he fell to the ground instantly. he was conveyed to the hospital where he died around half an hour later. it was found that he had sustained a fracture of the ribs, and a wound in the shoulder blade. the jury returned a verdict of 'accidental death'. the deceased, who was 65 years old, leaves a widow and three children, who, it is said, reside in liverpool.
