I am very interested in this family. I have a book called the Bible Family & Marriage Records (Gleaned form Pension Applicatons) Vol. 7 by Deidre Burridge Dagner. In this book she writes: VA/VA Field Clark m. Mary Lester, 5 Jul 1774 by Parson McRoberts of the old Episcopal Church of England, Chesterfield Co., VA R-222. Bible Record Field Clark, son of Allison Clark and Blanch his wife, born 30 Apr. 1751. Field Clark married Mary his wife, daughter of Jacob Lester 5 Jul 1774. Field Clark was born again not of the flesh, but of the spirt of God in Chesterfield County May 1780 and was Baptized and moved into the county of Lunenburg in Dec. 1780. Field Clark, son of Peter Clark, born 2 Mar. 1778. Field Clark, Sr. died 29 Jan. 1832, aged 80 years, 8 month, 29 days. Births Charity's first child was born 26 Feb. 1837, named William Patty's fifth child was born 26 Mar. 1839, named Betsy Ann.
That is all that is written. Please can anyone tell me, is the Field Jr. listed on the 1820 Lunenburg census. the child of Peter? or of Field Sr. - or the son of Shadrack? I think I saw where Shadrack’s son was born abt. 1797. Also, do you know who George Clark is that is listed on the 1810 Lunenburg Census? Can anyone help me straighten out this family? Does anyone know how many Field Clark’s were born in this family? And what year they were born in?

Dianna,

I looked at the entry you referred to in Volume 7 and then checked the pension file of Field Clark to see if I could find any further information. I am attaching a copy of the actual Bible page in his file, I thought you might like to have it for your records. It appears that a certification of its authenticity was attached to the right side of the page, which may be covering other entries that could help sort out the family. The Bible page was submitted to provide proof of the widow's marriage and the soldier's (Field Clark) death, which would allow the widow to collect her late husband's pension. Any other information on the page, or in the Bible itself, was not needed, so it was not submitted.

There was no further family information in the file, which was only 14 pages in length. I hope you have found some other information by now.

Do either of you ladies have any info on any parts of this family having relatives in NJ? I am wondering about this as my line of Clark's out of NJ have 'Peter's' and 'Allison's'....and that really piques one's interest. I have a William Clark b. abt. 1760 that m. Sarah Moore in NJ that are my dead end GGGrandparents.
Thanks for any info you have.

Carol, I have nothing concrete for you. But I found an Allsion Clark living in either Russell Co., VA or Hamshire Co., VA (now W. VA) who is supposed to be from New Jersery.
Sorry, I can't remember if it was a tax record, or a census record. It has been awhile since I worked on that line of Clarks. I am presently working on a William Clark who appears on the 1820 Russell Co., VA census. He married Ann Asbury in 1819 in Tazewell Co., VA. This would have been a 2nd marriage for him - I don't know who his first wife was.
He is living two doors away from a Frederick Clark whom other researchers claim to be the son of William. I'm still trying to prove that.
Can you give me more info concerning your William Clark? What are some of the other names that run in your family.
