I found two more children of
Silas Clark & Nancy ? born in
Winhall,
Bennington, VT.
They are Rosinia b. 11 Jun 1806; Sophronia b. 31 Jan 1803 (twin of Salomia?); and Nancy b. 17 Jul 1801.
There is another presumed son,
Silas D. Clark, b. about 1810 (from census records) but I have not found a birth record for him yet.
Also have found a mention of
Silas Clark in a history of Peru, VT: "Dr. Silas
Clark came into town from
Winhall in 1809, and settled in a log house on the old road north of Charles Russell's house, being on the same lot, but did only a small amount of professional business. He was a useful member of society, and did much to build it up. Mrs. Clark died of typhoid fever about 1814 and Dr. Clark soon moved to
Herkimer County NY selling the place to
Goodell Walker in 1817."
Using these clues (and I could be wrong because they are so many
Silas Clarks, including Dr. Silas
Clarks) I found him living with his daughter Nancy
Gould in the 1850 census for
Schuyler,
Herkimer Co. NY.
His presumed son
Silas D. Clark was in the 1840
Frankfort,
Herkimer Co. NY census, in the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 census records for Freeport,
Stephenson Co. IL. Interestingly he was living next door to my 2g uncle William
POLLY in the 1860 census, a connection that was unknown to me previously.
I'm still looking for
Silas' parents and the maiden name of his wife Nancy.
