Surnames: Clark, Thorne
Hi Michele,
Thank you so much for your reply. I had no idea that Sabbath Clark had remarried or that he was a Vicar. And I appreciate knowing that there is a valid source through The College of Arms. Haven’t had time to check out their website in full. Just briefly looked it over.
My great grandfather was William Bateman Clarke (1869-1943). This is the first time the “e” showed up in our lineage. Can’t say why, but before him all the names were spelled without the “e”. It is confusing.
I was given our Clark ancestral tree with entries back to William Clark and Catherine Thorne, but beyond that it was blank. So far, I have been able to trace the Clark line back to Joseph John Clark (1510-1557), but was not sure if I was correct or not.
