Lemmons

Searching for Joshua K Lemmons from Cynthiana KY. I have info of him as an adult but tyring to tie him into his family of birth and see if what I have is correct. He was born abt 1817 to George Lemons and Jennie King Lemmons. He died in Shelby County Indiana 25 Feb 1865. I have information around him but no definite date of birth as a certificate or entry in a bible etc. I am making the assumption the K for his middle name might stand for King which was his mothers maiden name, unsure just speculating. Any info appreciated.

Gillett. About all that I can find id her marriage to John Gillett & that she died of a heart embolism. I am finding nothing on her parents. She may be the Ella J. Clem in the 1880 warren Co, Census as a servant. Has any one got a clue? There is another Clem family in the area but it does not have a Jennie.

Hello: Just saw your 2010 Clem family request in Sept 2011. I do not have the Clem Family History book you mentioned, but my GGGgrand mother was Lousia Ellen Clem SMITH who wed
Robert Smith 1852 to 1873 in Johnson Co. IND. They had 5 children, but only one, Isaac Franklin (1853 IND - 1936 IND)
lIVED to adulthood (3 died stillborn and a 4th Sarah Ellen died at age 4 (1859). They all lived in same area of Whiteland/Franklin in Johnson Co. IND. Louisa was one of 9 children of Isaac Clem (1794 KY to 1880 Miami Co IND) and NNancy Elizabeth Shepherd (1791 NC - 1847 IND). Louisa was born 5th of the 9 children (others were: Jemima; William; David; Willis; LOUISA ELLEN; Nancy Jane; Sarah; Francis M; and Mircella. My GGG grand mother did keep a diary for many years in the 1870s and I have a copy of the 1877 one. There may be others but this is the only one I have. LOUISA died but is not buried next to her husband Robert Smith (1808 VA - 1872 IND) in Pleasant Grove Cemetery but rather Louisa died Sept 21, 1903 in Whiteland IND and is buried in her Clem family plot in Hopewell Cemetery - which is near Pleasant Grove Cem. I have a copy of her photo, her 1852 marriage record and her tombstone in my collection. Please email me at LAUPME@AOL.COM and I will send you what I have.
PAUL SMITH - Brooklyn NY

Moved to Hugo Oklahoma to start a cafe for the coal miners there and later on moved to Dallas Texas in the 1920's.Stanford Layton Clem (my father) was raised in Dallas,Tx. I would like to know are we Irish or German I can find no record of our ancestry or country of origin

My aunt Mildred Clem was b. 7/28/1910 d. 5/8/1996, she was the daughter of James 'Samuel' Clem and Clara Lee McAden, she left some photos of the Clems and unfortunately there are no given names on the photos other than the name Clem. I would love to post them to see if anyone could identify them.

Mildren was born in Van Horn, Texas and later moved with the family to a place outside of Amarillo, Texas. They had a ranch on Lake Lorraine which I believe is close to Waco.

My great grandfather was James Alexander Clem b. 1844 in Indiana.

Any assistance would be appreciated. I haven't uploaded my family tree.
I've attached one photo.

Melinda Clem Cooper

The person who placed the tombstones in the Tobias Clem cemetery was my late father William H. Clem who was the great-grandson of Tobias. This is something that my father wanted to do because the original stones were in poor condition.
My father pasted way in 2006.

Gail Clem Hansen

Unfortunately this book is long out of print and the author died last November. If anyone has a copy I would appreciate some help.

The book has a reference to Louis Klem (1855-1876), brother of John Lincoln Clem the "drummer boy of Shiloh". The reference has something to do with Louis' going west and meeting up with General Custer. The family lore is that Louis was killed at Little Bighorn, though he was not a soldier. I'm trying to verify this but it's not looking good.

If anyone could cut/paste or send me a scan of the page(s) I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!
John Timbrooke (with or w/o the e) was my great grandfather too. However, my grt grandmother was John T' 1st wife, Nova C. Jones of Anna, Illinois (Edgar Co.). They were married 2 Oct 1887 in Anna. Their only child is my grandfather, John H(oward) Clem, brn 21 Dec 1888, Anna, Ill. According to fam folklore my grt grndmother died when John H. was very young. I have no death record. John Timbrooke's father was David G. Clem, brn 1824, Butler Co. Ohio. His mother was Mary Jane Dust brn. c. 1836, Ohio. I was able to find 1860 and 1870 census for his family in City of Paris, Edgar Co., Illinois. David was residing in Indiana in 1864 and enlisted in the Indiana 11th Infantry, Co D. His second wife was Phoebe Tucker married 1879, Illinois. She claimed his Civ War pension.
