Thank you for your reply. I have been off ancestry for a bit, but I am back searching again. I, like you have the feeling Elija B Vianna twin brother is the possible father. I will keep your link updated if I find anything new in my search. I will be making the trip to South Carolina and North Carolina this summer and making more inquires in person. I am hoping part of this mystery will come to life.

The link you show that will take you to your Cloer page does not work. There are several Cloers in North GA working together to find info on the Cloer line. We have quite a bit of info, but are trying to link Anna Jane Swanson to Indian heritage. Any information you can share would be appreciated. Thanks Sondrra

My connection to this family is through my father Judson Cloer Cunningham. He was Your grandfathers younger brother. Whom it seems between 1910 and 1920 was adopted. I cannot find any info on why this family was broken up. I am at a dead end when it comes to their mother Alice Burrell cloer. In reguards Samuel, my thoughts and where records have lead me are that most likely his father is Elijah B was probably the father, I could not find any record of him being married either. I would love to find more out. My father Judson was older when he had me to my mother and they were never married. Judson died shortly after my birth. So I really want to find some blood connection on the Cloer side. Hope to hear from you soon.

I am also looking for information on Samuel P. Cloer. He was my great grandfather. (My grandfather was his son Raleigh Latimer Cloer.) Like you, I am confused as to who his parents are. There is a record here indicating Vianna Narcisa as his mother, but, if she is his mother, he was born when she was unmarried and about 17. There is no marriage record for her here in Macon County until her marriage to Elijah Fowler at the age of 53. (I believe they are both burried at Cowee Baptist Church Cemetary.) If you have found anything I would appreciated the information. Based on stories my father told, I assumed Elijah B Cloer Jr (Vianna's twin brother) was Samuel's father, but, according to his death certificate, he never married. This is an intriguing mystery which I would very much like to solve.

I am looking for any information on the Cloer family. Starting with Elijah B & Sarah Sally Cloer from Tennessee Valley, Macon, North Carolina. I am especially interested in the grandson Samuel P, who lived with this family in the 1870 & 1880 US Census. I found one record that showed he was the Grandson of Elijah B, but the son of Nercy V. If anyone has any information to confirm this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! The Julia you are speaking of is my Julia Ann Goble. She married my fourth great grandfather, Hugh Robert McClure. Their son, Henry, is the source of my info on them, as he passed it down to his daughter, Hannah and then down to my grandmother, who is still living. The only info I had to go on was that they were from NC (the family later migrated to Virginia), their names and the ages they were at their dates of death. I will send you a personal e-mail with the information I have. Give me a few days to organize it a little. Thanks for your reply!

Hi Becca. My Goble line from Caldwell County NC intersects with the Cloers a couple of times. I have Lawson Goble (1820-1864) married Tempy Cloer (b 1815 d ??). Their son, William Davidson Goble married Margaret Louisa Cloer. Also they had a daughter, Julia, that I have been having problems tracing. Looks like from the birth index, her husband's name was first Hugh R Cloer, then the next time it was Hugh Robert McClure. I am guessing this is the same man. Also, I am trying to get proof that this is, in fact, my Julia Goble. Would you have anything further on this Julia Goble/Hugh Cloer? Do you live in NC? If you like, you can contact me at mreed3timz@hotmail.com.

Hi! I see this post is an old one, but I hope it's still active. My name is Becca, and Robeson Cloer is my fourth Great grandfather. His son, Hugh Robert changed his last name and began going by Clore, Clour, Cloer, Clure, and then finally McClure. He married Julia Ann Goble. They son Henry McClure married Malinda Stoots, and their daughter Hannah McClure married Bennett Duncan. These are my great grandparents. If you are interested in any further information I have please reply to this post, and I will contact you through a private e-mail.

Becca

Hi Pauline. Nice to meet you. I have been to Crandall before, but am not sure that I have met you. I do remember going to Nora's house as a child when I was growing up. If I remember, the house was on Georgia Highway 225, somewhat west of Crandall. I'm not sure I could find it any more, however. Nora was my Grandaunt. Her brother, John Wiley, was my Grandfather. I visited very often with her sister, Bessie, who lived in Chatsworth. There are still many cousins and other relatives living in the Chatsworth/Dalton/Crandall area. Maybe sometime we can get together as a group and exchange information on the various branches of the family.

I am just now looking into geneology again. I found your old email from 2006. My great grandfather is Jacob F. Cloer. I think we are descended from the same group of Cloers, however, I believe it was before my great grandfather, Jacob F. My grandfather was John William Cloer.

Yes, I am related to Gene Cloer. He is my brother and he lives in GA, not AL. He was the minister for the Church of Christ in PRescott, AR for 31 years.

I am related to William and Margaret Cloer Jones through their son Berry Wenton Jones. Margaret and her son Berry moved to Carroll County Missouri and both are buried there. Berry's daughter Elizabeth Jones married John Tyler Patton who grew up in Washington County Arkansas. John's father Isaac Patton and his uncle Pascal Patton married sister Elizabeth and Lucretia Jones. Could Elizabeth and Lucretia be granddaughters of Jacob and Lucretia Wright Cloer? Their father was John Jones.

I can share with you what I have, which is in a computer file accessible through Family TreeMaker and print out whatever is of interest to you. In addition, some of your other cousins and I have been discussing a get together in North Georgia at Dalton to visit some of the old family grave sites. We had planned to do this in December, but several things came up and we had to cancel. We have not yet rescheduled, but might plan to try again in mid to late January or early February. Contact me by email or I can give you a call to follow-up.
