Job Coe born South Ockenden, Essex, 1838

Job Coe was my great great grandfather. I am having a problem finding who his parents were. He is boarding with other people in the 1841 and 1851 census.
He was, I understand an agricultural labourer who later became a carter and moved to London. In 1859 he married Johanna Donovan who came from Cork, Ireland. They married in Stepney. Their children were Joseph (my great grandfather), William B., Agnes, Catherine, Ellen, Frederick and George. All th children were born in Barking, Essex.
Has anyone information about this family please?

Bertha had sister, Alice Maud, who married Charles Henry Warren 1911.
Granddad had sisters Renee and Lorna born Northumberland or Durham early 1900s.
Looking for ANY family and ANYONE who recognises any names please, I'm at a total loss so far.
Thanks, Susan Henry nee D'Evelin (dashsosh)

Coe, Henry R., Middleville, came from Connecticut with his wife, Lydia, a daughter of Thomas J. Sturgis, about the year 1837. Their children were as follows: Helen Alexander, wife of Herman Alexander; Louise, wife of James Morris; and Albert S., all residents of Middleville. He worked for Smith & Stow as foreman in their chair factory for a number of years, when he purchased an interest in same, which he continued until his death, May 2, 1875. He was an active Democrat, and held the office of justice of the peace. His wife is still living at the age of seventy-five years. His son, Albert S., was educated in the school at Middleville, and at the age of fifteen entered the employ of V. S. Kenyon as clerk, continuing for two years. He then bought a half interest in the chair manufactory of his father, which he continued until the latter's death. In 1887 he commenced the retail furniture business, also undertaking, which he has since followed. He married, February 25, 1875, Ida L., daughter of Anson and Laura Morey. She died in May, 1882, and he married second, Hattie Crossett, by whom he had five children: Lena L., May E., Bessie, Charlie, who died December 19, 1891, aged two years and four months; and Hazel. Mr. Coe is a Democrat, having been justice of the peace and justice of sessions, which latter position he now holds. He was charter member of the Royal Arcanum Council 1335, of which he has been treasurer since its organization.

source:
History of Herkimer County, New York : illustrated with portraits of many of its citizens
edited by George A.

I am searching for any information on Elizabeth Nora Parker. And her children. The father would be William Franklin Coe. They were married 8 Dec 1886. Their son Homer Holiday Coe is my grandfather (now deceased). He had several brothers and sisters. I am not sure of their names but I believe Ruby, Lucretia, Charles, and Edward to be possibilities. I am only going on memory here and I am looking for information to back it up/correct it.

I've recently added quite a few listings for the Decker Prairie Cemetery in Montgomery County Texas to the web site http://www.findagrave.com.

Decker Prairie Cemetery is a fairly small cemetery and I have plans to do some more documentation soon but I thought ya'll would like to know that there are quite a few listings for the Coe and Decker families. I'm going back soon to work on the Laird family that appears to be linked to the Coes and Deckers.

I am not related to any of these families. I am a volunteer photographer for findagrave and that's why I've listed them.

Enjoy!

There were two John Coe's. Robert Coe's son John and his cousin, John Coe, that arrived here shortly after Robert the Puritan. John Coe, the cousin is about four years older than Robert's son.
Over the years, the two John's have been misidentified.
John Coe, the cousin was the one that went to Rye, New York, and John Coe, the son is the Captain John Coe.
Also, the widow Hannah Barrett Jenner has been put with Captain John Coe, and John Coe both.
I descend from John Coe, the cousin, and in the book about Robert Coe the Puritan published in 1911, it states there had been a mixup with the two over the years, and they have copies of signatures of both John's, and they are definiely different.
Does anyone have any information that shows anything more definite.?
I feel that the Captain John Coe as being married to the widow Jenner, is the son of Robert Coe, and not his cousin John.
CJ

Coe Family

I am new at this geneology research and would appreciate any help in locating information about my Dad's family. He was Thomas Eugene Coe, son of Thomas Edward Coe & Ora Juanita Gilbert Coe, who was son of William Hal Coe and Rose Lute Osborne Coe. William Hal was son of Andrew Jackson Coe and Emma (Fanny) Keesee Coe. Andrew was son of a Thomas J Coe and Martha Davis Coe. All of these people came from the Smyth County, Virginia area. Then I have Thomas J Coe being the son of a William Coe and Elizabeth Baker Coe, both from North Carolina. I then have William being the son of John L Coe and Mary Ann "Polly" McCollum Coe, both from Virginia. I have John L Coe being the son of William Coe and Lavica Barrett Coe, also from Virginia but dying in North Carolina. From there, I have William Coe being born to Francis Peter Coe and Nancy Pearson Coe. I have Francis Peter being born in Loudoun County, Virginia but no further info on Nancy Pearson Coe. I have Francis Peter Coe being the son of a Richard Coe but have no other info on him.
If anyone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it.
Anita Lynn Coe Mullins

Benjamin Coe (NJ) research question

Hi,
I have come across references to Benjamin Coe and others having originally been a member of church on Long Island, and that he and another group left and settled in the area of Hanover, NJ.
Does anybody know where I can find the names of these other members? I'm not descended from Benjamin Coe directly, but am researching a related family whom I believe may have also been on Long Island originally.
Thank You-----

Can anyone help me identify the rest of the people in this photo of Daniel Asbury Coe's family, circa 1913-14?
What I know:
Roy A. Coe (my grandfather) is second from left, top row.
Eula Coe (my grandmother) is second from left, middle row.
My mother, Madelene Coe, is third from left, bottom row.
D.A. Coe is in the center of the top row, just left of the post.
What I'm guessing at:
To the right of D.A., I believe we have Ed Coe, unknown man, Mark Coe and Guy (Robert Guy) Coe
The woman at the far right of the second row appears to be Margaret Coe, wife of Mark Coe and mother of John (Jack) Coe (think he's fourth from the right on the bottom row, leaning back in the shadow)
Hi there, I just wanted to let anyone looking for information on the Coe family line to take a look at a site I've had up for a number of years, but until now I've never really done much with it.

It's www.coe-family.com. I originally setup the site for the Coe Family Reunion that is held here in Connecticut every year, but since then it's started to grow and expand.

The latest thing that I placed on the site is a set of forums/area for discussions on the family, the reunions, and also I've included some old historical family photos. The pictures I've posted have come from the Coe Family farm in Connectiut, some dating back to the late 1800's. I've also posted some other pictures that other people have sent me over the years.

In addition, my mother and other members of our family line have traced our genealogy back to the 1500's when Robert Coe came over from England, so if your looking for information on our line, you can contact the registered person in those forums by the name of Loraine.

I am looking for information about Ruth Becknell (or Bicknell) and Samuel Coe, married about August 16, 1846, in Brown Township, Washington County, Indiana.

Ruth was born about 1826 in Indiana, possibly Delaware County.
Samuel was born about about December 10, 1808, in Ohio.

Ruth's father was William Becknell/Bicknell, possibly born in Tennessee. William was married about 1825 in Indiana; wife's given name possibly Mary, born NC or SC.

Samuel's father was John Coe, born in Virginia or Ohio; mother unknown

After their wedding in 1846, Samuel and Ruth Coe settled in Iowa. William Becknell and his family followed them soon after, before the 1850 census.

I'm hoping to find more details about Ruth's and Samuel's parents, as this is where I hit a brick wall with my research.

Thank you,
Jan Martin
(couple's great-great granddaughter)
Benjamin (Ben) COE, Wilson, OK

I am searching for information on the family of my Grandfather, Thomas Griffin.

Relatives of Thomas Griffin, living in Wilson, Carter Co. OK in the early 1900's were "Cousin Alice" ([possibly GRIFFIN) and her husband, Ben COE and "Cousin Jeff" (possibly GRIFFIN). My mother visited them several times as a young girl; however this is all she told me about the COE family. It is possible they lived in TX. before moving to Wilson OK.

This is the Documentation I have on my Grandparents. According to 1900 Census of Indian Territory Chickasaw Nation OK (later Ardmore, OK), Thomas GRIFFIN b. 1855 in AL, (location unknown) both parents b. SC. Thomas GRIFFIN m. Olivia S. Morrison 1894 possibly in or near McMillan, Marshall Co. OK. Olivia d/o Alexander Rhodes Morrison and Louisa Davis Hale.

Living nearby were some of Olivia's relatives, Martha Mae Hale & husband William H. Willis; Elizabeth Hale & husband John Shock Willis; & Griffin Goss Willis & wife Hanna House who lived in Madill, Marshall Co. OK.

A son b. 1895 & daughter b. 1899 were born in McMillan OK to the Thomas & Olivia. The Griffin family then moved to Ardmore, IT, (later Carter Co.) OK where they bought land & built Grocery Store.. Thomas farmed and Olivia operated Grocery Store.

Thomas d. Feb. 1909 in Ardmore OK. of a heart attack. Olivia & children stayed in Ardmore until early 1920's.

Thomas GRIFFIN m. Olivia Morrison when he was 39 years old so this could possibly have been his 2nd marriage. I have 2 pictures of Thomas GRIFFIN as an adult.

I would very much like to make contact with other family members of either Thomas or Olivia and the Coe families to share information I have.

Nell
