Hi Kerry,

I am happy to send a copy of the picture. George was my maternal grandmothers uncle ie her mothers brother. He never went to America. The earliest mention of the family in Warwickshire is in the village of Brailes when in the year 1279 a Geoffrey Cockbule purchased land in the village. I would love to see some pictures of some of the American Cogbill's.

I'd love to see the pic of George Cogbill. Any chance he came to the USA. I have dead ended with a George Cogbill mid 1600's and can't find the connection yet to over there. I actually emailed you today when I got this post update. Thought I had lost you. Is that still your correct email address above? I have some Cogbill pictures if you are interested in seeing them.

I remember Billy Mace very well and I miss him. He was very interested in all matters to do with the Cogbill Family Tree. Since Billy passed away I have managed to get in touch with other living relations that come down from other brothers and sisters of William Cogbill who moved to south Wales and established the Welsh branch of the family. I have a lovely photograph of William's younger brother George Cogbill and am happy to e-mail a copy to you. It may give some idea of what William Cogbill looked like.

My ggg grandfather was Gouldsberry W P Green; neighbor to Edward M Orton of Cleveland Co. AR. I thInk possibly GWP was raised by Zachariah Green Jr's 3rd wife whose maiden name was Orton.

Would you have any details of Edward's family history previous to his landing in Cleveland County during the 1850s?

Great to hear from you! I come down from the Cogbill family (though the name was originally Cockbill) through my maternal grandmother. Earliest mentions of the name are in 1279 in the village of Brailes in South Warwickshire in mid England. I do have some photographs. Do you have any to swap?

My maternal grandmother, Hilda Emily Cogbill, was born in Warwickshire, a few miles from Brailes, the ancestral home of of the Cogbill family. The earliest known record of a Cogbill there was in 1279 when a Geoffrey Cogbill purchased some land. The name used to be Cockbill, rather than Cogbill. I am interested in hearing from any interested in research and would love to know how the USA Cogbill's fit in to the picture. I have some photographs I am willing to share.

Trying to find present day family members. My Gr-gr-grandfather was Ervin (Irving and sometimes Erwin) V Cogbill, son of Phebe. His brother's were: James, Thomas, W.W.,Franklin, and David. 1850 AR census has them in Pulaski Co. I have a picture of Samuel Cogbill, son of Ervin, and brother to Laura, my Gr.grandmother. I also have a picture my Dad carried of Alfred Cogbill, his cousin, in WWII uniform, and a note from a Bess Cogbill, also Dad's cousin.

Does anyone have information on who the parents of Cattie Cogbill may be. Cattie married Clarence Owens of Pine Bluff,Jefferson Co, Ark. on 12 Jan. 1886 in Cairo, Ill. I have reason to believe that she was from Jefferson or Lincoln Counties, Arkansas. She had a son Clinton Willie Owens who was my grandfather. The marriage license indicates that Clarence was 25 years old and Cattie was 20 years old.
