I am helping a friend of mine with her family tree but I'm missing many dates and places and I'm looking for help or suggestions. She was born in 1979 and her parents are in thier sixties so that gives an idea of possible birthdates for her ancestors.

Her great-grandfather was Albert Edward Fletcher and he was from England. He married Florence Ida May Tansley.
Albert Edward Fletcher's parents were John Henry Fletcher and Catherine Colbourne. Catherine (Coulbourne) Fletcher was from/of Horsley Wood, Derbyshire, England.

This is all I have to go on and I can't find anything on the LDS website or Rootsweb to point me in the right direction.
Any info or suggestions?

Maggie

COLBORNE'S from Germany

I believe my gg grandmother Elizabeth LUSS's maiden name was COLBORNE and that she was originally from Germany (possibly Prussia). She was born Aug. 11, 1818 and came to the U.S. around 1867 as a widow with 4 children. Her husband Christopher or Christian LUSS died in Germany around 1860. When she came to the U.S. she settled in western NY near some other LUSS families. I would be interested in any information on COLBORNEs originating in Germany.

My wife's Grandfathers name was Russell Colborne. He maried Deloris Eckert in Maryland in the 1940s. We don't know to much about him or the family name because they were divorced shortly after my wife's mother was born. I don't know if this helps you.

Colborne Family (NS)

My grandfathers name was Sherman D.Colborne. He was born and raised in Collingwood, Nova Scotia.(cumberland county, near springhill)
His Father was Garnet Colborne and his mother was Gladys Colborne(nee Hunter) I'm not sure of the family ancestry but Sherman did have Uncles or cousins in that area as well. One name that comes to mind is Carl Colborne (cousin). The family was in the logging industry.
Garnet's wife Gladys died when there youngest of nine was only 2 years of age. So that could have been in 1947 or so. He remarried but I don't know the name of the second wife aka battleax ( nickname given by my grandpa).

Have you ever heard of relatives in Newfoundland? My father Clarence Walter
Colbourne was born in Tilt Cove Newfoundland in 1910. His father was Albert
Frances and mother Bertha jane Windsor(spelling?) The family moved to Toronto Ontario some time before 1930 when he married my mother. I know my grrandparents were English but I'm not sure where they were born. My father died in 1945 in Belgium while serving in the Canadian army.
