I just saw your post, and think I can help. William Wesley Cole, born February 25, 1902, in Tempe, was my husband's father. His family came to northern Arizona from Texas, and finally to Tempe ca 1895. He had one brother, Ben, and four sisters Rita, Lois, Ruthy, and Emma. William Wesley's parents were Louis and Dora Lee. I do not recognize the names, Francis and Susana in that immediate family.

Ella Cole - NY

I'm trying to trace back my paternal side of the Cole family. This is what I do know:

Arthur Cole Hennings (my great-grandfather) was the son of Bernard J. (or J. Bernard) Hennings and Ella Cole. Ella was born 02/28/1863 in NY. On another census, Arthur listed her birthplace as PA. Ella and Bernard were married about 1880 in NY and she died 09/26/1893 in NY. Bernard and Ella also had two other sons: Frederick William Hennings and Earl Guy Hennings.

I think Ella's parents were Allen Cole (born about 1834 in Nichols, Tioga, NY and died 12/12/1889 in Gibson, NY) and Ann Eliza Middaugh (born about 1855 in NY. Don't have a death year for her). Allen and Ann also had five other children: Almira, Annette, Sara, Charles and Ida.

I also think that Allen Cole's parents were Charles Cole (born about 1807 in NY and died between 1870 and 1880 in NY) and Catherine Van Gorder (born about 1810 in NJ). Charles and Catherine also had three other children: Elizabeth, Theron and Charles.

Anyone have any information that can confirm this and help be with additional information?

Mary Tibbs - his wife was researched in England by a genealogist hired by the New England Historical and Genealogist Society in Boston, MA and we are not related to the Lobel line nor are we related to Coles from Enniskillin(sp?).
The genealogist also said that James Cole was from Barnstaple, Devon, England. My grandfather, Redmond was a genealogist and thoroughly researched the Cole family.
Hi. Hatcher was my great uncle, and Henry Judson Cole was my great grandfather. I have a public family tree at worldconnect.rootsweb.com with accurate Cole info.

The database is 'drfligo'

Would be curious to know more about your Cole connection and what you're searching for. There is some interesting stuff, though little in public record.

BTW, Henry's 2nd wife was Lura Elizabeth Jones. (also his his first cousin, as was Lucy Broaddus) Lucy was Hatcher's mother.

My email is drfligo@yahoo.com

Allen Cole
Richmond, VA

It would be helpful if you included some geographical and time clues. Where did these people last live? About what years did they live? Your inquiry is much more likely to get a response if you include more, rather than less, information.

Hi,
I saw your post on Edmund Cole. Is his middle initial W?
I found an Edmund Cole who after the war moved from Bay City to Gratiot Co., Newark Twp. He committed suicide by hanging Dec 9, 1900. According to his death certificate, he was buried Dec. 11, 1900 in Ithaca. Most likely he is buried in Ithaca Cemetery. I checked the listing for the cemetery on Find A Grave but he wasn't listed there or at the other cemeteries. The listings aren't always complete. If you want to see the death certificate, I can send it to you. It said he was born on Sept. 29, 1842 and was a carpenter.
I hope this is the right Edmund. Let me know. My last name is Cole but I am not related to Edmund.

Best regards,
Kay Cole

Looking for any info on Eli Cole who was born about 1790 in North Carolina. He and wife Hester Fincher (born in S. C?) were living in Lincoln Co., TN. by 1850, operating a large farm with slaves. Hester is shown as being a daughter of Francis Fincher and Elizabeth Bishop. Some have stated that Eli and Hester moved to Grayson Co., TX. with daughters Jane and Mary who married Wheeler brothers, William and Drury. It is written that Eli died in 1854 and Hester died in 1858. To see these old Cole/Wheeler family notes, go to Findagrave and search, Jane Wheeler, 1828-1872, but don't enter the state because the exact location of her burial, apparently in Grayson Co., Texas, has not been established.

Do you also have John's father's information. I have wondered if his father is was born in 1907 in NY. If so, I found a John B Cole in NY, whom his wife gave birth to. If you have any information on his father, I am extremely interested.

Also I would love to have any photos of John. Thank you so much - you have made my day.

Family history notes pertaining to the descendants of William Wheeler (1827-1866) and Jane Cole Wheeler state that Jane Cole was the daughter of Eli Cole and Hester Fincher. It also shows that Hester's parents were Francis Fincher and Elizabeth Bishop. Further details, including some dates of death, are shown in these records including the parents of the above William Wheeler. To view these records go to Findagrave and search, Jane Cole Wheeler, born 1828, or do a search for her husband. There are links on these pages to other family members.
I would be interested in any further info on these people.

I did not know her brother Verbal, but I would like more information about him, as I am trying to find more information on Grandma's family.
I speak of George Cole as my elusive great-grandfather. I have learned very little and there seems to be lots of contradictions. It is my understanding that he was 1/2 or 1/4 Chactow Indian. The local Indian Center did a search of Indian Registers but did not find him. Later I was told that his mother chose not to register him. Family History says he was born in Meridian, MS. He supposedly died c. 1020 of Cancer in Bronson TX. I sent for a death certificate. There is no record of him dying in Texas. Most all I know is hearsay. He is definitely a mystery man.
