I got my 1st computer 14 years ago. I have searched and research our family trees. I need an answer...I am to Robert Coleman b.1715 mar. Francis Mathis b. 1725...father Thomas Mathis b. 1700 good...mother Sarah Goss b. 1816 wrong I go to NC marriage records enter Thomas Mathis b. 1700 I read Annie Huie b. 1705 mar. Thomas Wesley Mathis 1724. I just wanted to ask am I right ... Please Please check every entry you make, an earlier entered a Coleman family tree from information that was gleaned from many different families long before I started searching libraries around DFW TX. Before I ever knew there would be a computer well I didn't find my family and I have copies of letters the families in TX and TN wrote.I live close to where they settled in TX 1873, I have known where they were buried since I was 7. Please check before your work is entered into your computer. I am going to spend the comeing week or 2 double checking what I have entered. My family trees are suppose to be open to the public as many cousins as my husband and I have we want our family records and history available to all of our cousins. am45tx

He had at least one brother, or at least I think they were brothers, His name was Crowder Coleman, or it could have been his father. They lived in the N.C. Mountains.
Somewhere in or near Burke County, North Carolina. Crowder Coleman was my Grandmother-in-law's Father. I have so much more info to share and trade with anyone who can help me
with the Coleman Family Project.
Thanks,

Ervin/Edwin Coleman in Pittsburgh, circa 1930

Looking for information on Ervin (possibly Edwin) Coleman, recorded in the 1930 Census on Grandview Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He married a woman by the name of Viola Druzilla, last name possibly Gourley; marriage possibly occurred in Monroe County, Ohio in the 1920's. Ervin and Viola had two children living with them in Pittsburgh, Mildred and Willard. Willard went on to military service after World War II, and is buried at Rock Island National Cemetery in Illinois after apparently living in the Quad Cities area (Iowa, it seems). Mildred married a man with the last name of Gossard, and died in Ohio in 1965. Viola re-married in 1936, to Oran Jasper Fisk; they both died near Cambridge, Ohio in February 1969. (Car accident?)

Thank you for any help you can provide.

My g-g-grandfather was Robert Alexander Coleman, born around 1863 in Hickman Co, TN, son of Rufus Coleman (1812-1887) & Elizabeth Hoover (1819-1883). He moved to Beaver, UT and was married in 1888 to Clara Slaughter. After having two children together (Millie & Claire), they separated and were later divorced. He left Utah and wasn't heard of again, as far as our family knows.

I would dearly love to find out where he went, how long he lived, whether he re-married and possibly had additional children, and when/where he died. If anyone has information about his life or family, I would appreciate hearing from you!

- angela
familyhistory@angieandjim.com

Ohio no parents names on the Certf.
Adie's name only shows up in her marriage Certif., the birth of her kids and the 1900 Census.
Here is the uncertain: Her parents likely came out of Pa. as that and Ireland is the only place to find any "CERAY's"
The closest to finding her in the 1880 census is an 18 year old Servant girl in Cincinnati named Abby. Abby is a lot more familiar to a census taker then Adie.

Warren Coleman

Looking for information on Addie Ceray Coleman / OR her name might have been Ida Coleman. (I've seen both used- more Addie than Ida, but since I've seen both, I'm putting both out there since I'm clueless). She was my GGG Grandmother. The only thing I know is that she was born about 1862 in Ohio, and died december 15 1922 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. She married Henry R Donaldson, and had a child (my GG grandmother) Mae OR (may) Belle Donaldson.
If anyone has ANY information on her, please let me know, I would appreciate it so much.
Ellen and Nora Coleman came to Ireland sometime in the 1870s. Census records disagree as to exactly what year.
Ellen married Jeremiah Sullivan, which I can confirm because they are buried in the same lot as my grandmother, Nora Coleman Harris. I just found an Ellen Coleman and a Jeremiah Sullivan both arriving in Boston on the ship Tripoli on April 25, 1870 - does anyone have any information that might confirm whether this was the same folks I am looking for? There doesn't seem to be a Nora Coleman on the passenger list, though there's a Nora with no last name on page 17 who's approximately the right age. Any help would be appreciated!

Wilson Coleman of Tennessee was my g-g-grandfather. According to old family tradition, he was Wilson Coleman, Jr. The original Wilson was supposedly married to Sally White. They were from Virginia. In the 1950 census,he is living with an older "Ann" and Joseph, and I don't know about that. I think Ann was probably his mother, maybe Sally Ann. He married sisters: Sarah Jane Isbell and Martha Isbell. Martha had married a man named Stephenson, and was widowed. My g-grandmother was daughter of Lawson Isbell, a second cousin of her husband John Redmond Coleman. I'd love to tie some of this in, and finally learn who Wilson Coleman's people are. Many were located in Maury County.

Not sure if it's the same "Thomas Brown", but possibly? My Robert Brown Sr.[b. 1759, Culpeper Co., VA.]and his brother Pollard Brown[b. 1762, Culpeper Co., VA.] were mentioned as heirs in a 1780 Culpeper Co., VA. will of Christopher Zimmerman Jr. Also mentioned in that will were a Thomas Brown and a John Brown. I believe these 2 other Browns[Thomas & John]were related to my Robert Brown and his brother Pollard Brown. I believe one of Robert Browns sons married a Suckey/Sucky Zimmerman. One of my Brown related cousins has traced one of our male Brown ancestors being married to an Elizabeth Coleman.

I have more information and genealogy files on my Brown ancestors.
Thanks. I am aware that there was a Seth Coleman who was a brother of the people mentioned in the link you sent me. I have seen an Ancestry tree that has this Seth deceased about 1815 but the tree gives no sources so any relationship to my Coleman line is still speculation. The Seth Coleman from Monroe Co IL died around 1829. I am speculating that the latter Seth could have been a son (or even a nephew given how often children were named after other family members in the day.) The John and Jesse listed in my first post were both born in North Carolina per census data. Finally, a cousin of mine has established through DNA that there is a relationship to Mobjack Colemans which I believe the older Seth and his siblings belonged. The search continues.....

I think Seth died in Monroe Co IL around 1829. There is an estate filing in Monroe Co IL dated 1829 but I have not seen it but perhaps it will give clues on children. My gr gr grandfather John Coleman married first Sarah (Sally) Rutherford---I suspect John is a son of Seth but cannot yet prove it. John appears to have been a brother of Jesse (male). I have found a source that says that Seth and Lucy were parents of a David Coleman. If you think we can compare notes further please post--thanks.

Seth Coleman in Monroe Co IL etc.

Seth Coleman lived in Monroe Co., IL per 1820 census and there is a record of a 1829 estate filing in a Monroe Co genealogy site for Seth so he died thereabouts.
Seth Coleman was married to Lucy Satterfield per a Familysearch.org entry---same entry lists them as parents of a David Coleman. David married Lucinda Hagler in Warren Co., IL in 1840's---the couple moved on to Iowa. I think Seth and Lucy may have been the parents of a Jesse (born around 1807?) and John born in 1816. Both Jesse and John lived part of their adult lives in Warren Co IL. Seth Coleman may have come from North Carolina and I am also trying to tie him to Coleman's from Person Co., NC and other NC counties. If anyone can add to what I know and what I am guessing, I would appreciate any information that would confirm or refute Seth Coleman as the parent of Jesse or John Coleman (born 1816 and who lived in Ft Scott, Bourbon Co KS at time of his death in 1887.) Obviously, a goal is to get to the Monroe Co IL courthouse.
