I'm seaching for my gr gr grandfather's family - he immigrated from France around 1857. B Apr 19 1837 Paris France, his dad was a soldier exiled by Napoleon to Switzerland--I know he recieved a French pension while in the US before fighting for the Union in the Civil War.....Any clues or hints, please help!!

My grandmother was Henrietta (Colin) Shapiro. She was married to Abraham M. Shapiro. She gave birth to my father, Edward Samuel Shapiro on December 21, 1908, but died on December 23, 1908. I believe she had a brother, Rob. Any assistance in finding relatives is greatly appreciated!

Other slibings were: Celina b. 1850, Mathilda

There seems to be a lot of confusion about who are the parents to Marie Josephte Colin. She married Antoine Parent (Parant) 4 April 1758 in Ste. Rose Quebec. I have seen as parents Andre Colin dit LaLiberte and Jeanne Cadieu(x) and Joseph Colin and Jeanne Masson.
Can anyone say for sure which are her parents.

I am researching my family tree. On my father's side is the name "Colin" which somehow turned into "Collins".
My grandfather always said he was born in Canada, his father being Robert Colin and his mother being Adaline Quenell. In my research I have found that "Colin" means "Collins" in english, how true this I don't know. I have heard from relatives of mine that Robert Colin came from France and yet anything that my grandfather put down about his father was that Robert Colin was from Ireland. When I sort this name thing out maybe I will actually find out what neck of the woods my ancestors came from. I did find out too that "Quenell" was also "Quesnel". I would like to know if "Colin" is Irish or French from France or Canadian French.

I am told they were from Belgium John (1848-1914), his wife Ferdinanda (1851-1929). They had Virginia (1870-1925), Arthur (1877), Octave O. Louis (1879), and Edgar Colin born in the US(1894)
Any help would be greatly appreciated... They settled in Pennsylvania.

I am looking for the family of EDWARD COLIN and JANE (JENNIE) BRENNAN of Conneaut and Ashtabula, Ashtabula County, Ohio.

Jane (sometimes called Jennie) Brennan was born in Ashtabula, Ashtabula County, Ohio around 1888. Her father died suddenly around 1890, and she and her siblings spent some time in a Children’s Home in Ashtabula. Jane was later returned to her mother’s care, while most (but not all) of her siblings were placed in other homes or sent to an orphanage. Jane married Edward G. Colin in the early 1900s, and they had at least four children that I know of. The family was living in Ashtabula in 1930.

JANE (JENNIE) M. BRENNAN, daughter of MARTIN BRENNAN and MARY CRAIG, was probably born March 07, 1888 in Ashtabula, Ashtabula County, OH. She married EDWARD G. COLIN. He was born about 1881, possibly in Pennsylvania.

Children of JANE BRENNAN and EDWARD COLIN are (all probably born Ashtabula, OH):

1) KATHERINE A. COLIN, b. about 1907.
2) JOHN A. COLIN, b. about 1915.
3) JAY M. COLIN, b. about 1916.
4) VIRGINIA J. COLIN, b. about 1919.

Information on Josef Colin

Would anyone have information on Josef Colin b. 1732 in St. Germain, parish of Portiers, France? Josef became Deputy Surveyor of the town of Mobile (Louisiana Territory) and Captain of the Dragoons. He came to early Mobile (present day Mobile, Alabama) via Haiti and died 10/17/1795.

I appreciate any information given.

I need to know what happened to my grandfather, Leon Colin, of France. He is last known to have lived on City Island in New York in 1927. He was married to Gertrude and son of Leon Gustave Colin and Pauline Speiser Colin. He had one daughter, Cecile, my mother. His passions were the early aeronautics industry and shipping. He belonged to the Aircraft Committee of the American Association of Engineers. Thank you for your help.
