Colleys in London

I am researching Colleys in London. I have my G-Grandfather Thomas Henry COLLEY b approx 1859, married Emma RHO(A)DES in Bethnal Green 1878. He was a Nautical Instrument maker/Engineer. His father was also Thomas COLLEY a Shipbroker. That's as far back as I can get unfortunately! If anyone has come across any London Colleys in the course of their research and think it might help with mine I would be very grateful. Thanks
Jacky

I've been researching Andrew J. Colley and Susannah Granville for years now and cannot find anything to help me so far. Andrew Colley was born about 1735-1755 Spartanburg Co or York Co, SC died 8 January 1802 Christian County, Kentucky. Susannah Granville was born about 1735-1755 Spartanburg Co or York Co, SC and died 23 December 1853 Christian County, Kentucky. Can anyone help me? I want to break down this brick wall. I descend from their son Andrew J. Colley Jr. born about 1777 Beaufort County, South Carolina and died about 1850 Graves County, Kentucky. Andrew Colley Jr. married Mildred Polly Nichols (Nicholas) 11 December 1804 in Christian County, Kentucky. Mildred, or Polly was born about 1790 Christian County, Kentucky. Thanks!
Shirley
Searching for information on the Alvin Colley family who lived in the Wadsworth, Ohio area in the 1930's. Alvin married Ethel M. Fox who was the great-granddaughter of Daniel Hoffheins (or Hoffhines). Ethel was born in Camden, Lorain County, Ohio in about 1906. There seem to be some strange things going on with this family...like marriages where there were no husbands around...and I would like to try to figure out what was going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

CENSUS YEAR: 1790 STATE: NC COUNTY: Robeson
Colley, George 2 males, 5 females
Colley, Thomas 1 male, 1 female

Does anyone have information on these two? I believe my ancestor, Nancy Colley b. 1767 may have been the daughter of George. She married Lewis HALL, Jr. in 1796 in Robeson, NC. Lewis was listed on the same census page as the George COLLEY family.

Both these COLLEY and HALL families appear to have been in Bladen Co. NC by 1770 when land deeds refer to "Big Colley Swamp". Either land lines changed or they both migrated to Robeson Co. then on to Montgomery & Appling Counties, Georgia.
Hello,

Found a Sarah Colley, born around 1799. In 1850 (23rd March) in Croyden, Surrey, England, she was a widow SARAH CHRISTOE aged 51. Sarah married a William Brown, Widower, aged 57 at the time, who was living at the time at Stroud Green, Croyden. His father was also called William Brown! Basket Maker.

Sarah father was Walter Colley, and on her marriage certificate is listed as being a gardener.

Researching the family name CHRISTOE and was wondering who she was!

Delighted to hear from anyone who might know which CHRISTOE she had been married to.

Thanks,

Malcolm
Parents of Sarah Colley Born in Pittsylvania VA 1777

I'm trying to determine the parents of Sarah Colley. She was born 5 Nov 1777 in Pittsylvania Co. VA. She died abt. 1843 in Oglethorpe Co. GA. She was married 29 Oct 1797 in Oglethorpe Co. GA to William Vaughn/Vaughan. He was the son of James Vaughan and Sarah Wilkes or Wilkins--I've seen both surnames given.
Sarah Colley named one of her sons Jonathan Colley Vaughn, so it leads me to believe that her father was Jonathan Colley, but I have nothing else to prove that assumption. I've seen files that show Jonathan Colley as a brother to Sarah Colley.
One file on the internet states that her parents are James Colley, b. 23 Jun 1752 in VA and Elizabeth UNKNOWN, b. abt. 1755. Still other files list the parents as Edward Colley and Mary Strong, with both Sarah and Jonathan as their children.
Does anyone have information on who the parents of Sarah Colley really are?? And what about Jonathan Colley?? It's all really confusing! I sure could use some help on this. I've been trying to track them down for over a year and can never find anything to conclude who the parents are for sure, and if Jonathan and Sarah are siblings, cousins, are how they are actually connected.

Colley family 1900 Census Pocahontas County WVA

In searching for my g-great grandmother's history I have been stumped... She was Samantha Phelps and was 27 and married to a 63 year old man in 1880 Nicholas County WVA. I am presuming her husband died before 1894. (Solomon Perkins) 1894 Pocahontas County WVA marriage index shows one Samantha Perkins married a William John Coly (as spelled). 1900 Census for Levels district of Poca. County shows the following.
William Colley b. 1856 KY parents b. England
Samantha b. 1853 (same as my Phelps) NC parents b. NC
Louisa 10 born WVA
at the time of Louisa's birth Samantha would have been 37 with numerous older/grown children. Her one daughter (the last to the Perkins) was 16 and living with sister Martha and family in 1900. Does anyone know anything about this William and Samantha Colley? Thanks for your time...
Obadiah Colley married Sarah Smith in Virginia. He was a saloon keeper in Canton, Lewis County, Mo. He was in the 1860 census in that county, but Sarah Smith Colley was living with Van and Frances Swearingen in 1870, same county. I am assuming that he died between those census years. Would like information on his date of death and where buried. They lived in a little community of Tulley, Missouri. Frances died after 1870 and I am assuming that she is buried beside Obadiah, because she did not go to California in 1874 with Van and Frances their daughter.

Would appreciate any informtion as these are my 4th great-grndparents.

Darlene, Inverness, FL

Colley-Kerr connection

A friend I served in Submarine Service with showed me a Bible given to him by his 84 yr. old Mother. Opening it to
bookplate it stated this Bible belongs to John Kerr. John
Kerr marr. Mary Wiley May 28,1793. Then it proceeded to name
Sarah Kerr b. July 6, 1796; Thomas Kerr b. Oct.3,1797; Francis or Farris Kerr b. Nov.12, 1798; Enos Kerr b. Mar.10,
1801; John Kerr b. Feb. 12 or 17,1803 (Baltimore, MD; Mary
Kerr b. Jun. or Jan. 1806 (Penn.); Julia Kerr b. 1809 (Fayette Co. PA.); Elizabeth Kerr b. Oct. 10, 1811 & James
Kerr, who died after 6 months. Then Bible entries began to
list the surname Colley! Starting with Levi Colley Marr.
Lydia Colley in 1835 in Fayette Co., PA. Lydia must have
been a first cousin from pedigree back to Peter Colley who
was apparently born at sea Feb. 2,1757. Peter to Abel Colley b. Mar.11,1792 to Levi Colley b., 1813 to Abel Colley
#2 b.Nov. 27,1842. I cannot seem to find anything about this line of Kerr Klan aside from this Bible entry. Plus I can't trace the Colley's past Able #2. Maybe one of the family lines picked the Bible up at Goodwill. I would like
to think there is a Kerr-Colley connect somewhere. Any help
would be appreciated. I also have Email @ DMKERRMD@aol.com

DOROTHY COLLEY (YORKSHIRE & CANADA?)

I'm looking for the decendants/relations of a Dorothy Colley who was born, probably, in North Yorkshire., England. Her Canadian nephew was a flyer or a soldier in WW2 - he visited my grandmother, who was Mary Whitaker (her mother was Annie Varey nee Colley) possibly at the end of the war. I'd love to hear from anyone who thinks they know the family. The likelihood is that Dorothy Colley emigrated to Canada.

Need information on my gggrandfather--Harmon/Hireman/Hirman Colley. I have found information in the Civil War Pension ap filed by his 2nd wife, Delilah Neace after his death during the Civil War. Harmon's record shows his name being changed from Hireman or Hirman to Harmon upon entering the War. Any info on a family with this man as a child would be greatly appreciated. Harmon left behind one son--Elijah, by Harmon's first wife, who was raised by the Bush family (probably Harmon's mother as Elijah's mother Nancy died before 1861). Harmon and Delilah had several children- Elizabeth aka Betty, married Alexander Claiborn Fugate, daughter Rachel married Wm Nathan Honeysuckle Noble of Ky. If anyone has info on a Colley who married a Bush, this would be incredible for my files. I know 2nd wife Delilah lived and never remarried til approximately 1925 in Ky, but have not been able to find her death records or any info from 1880 except the civil war pension record. Need any info you might possibly have or any photos of either of these families. Please help! Thank you.

Jonathan COLLEY c.1753-1800 PA, s/o Alexander 1735-1783 & Abigail

Why is this family such a mystery? We've been searching for years - very urgent to find info ASAP due to friend's health. Any ideas? Alexander COLLEY lived in Philadelphia, PA at least by 25 Jan 1753 when he was married in Christ Church to Abigail COULSTON. She was Quaker; he was not. One of the children was Jonathan (Sr.) COLLEY. We are trying to untangle his wife / wives. His son, Jonathan (Jr.) COLLEY, removed to Columbia County, Pennsylvania (Northumberland County before 1813). If you have info, would appreciate any SOURCES you know of. Post or e-mail me. Thanks!!!

Does anyone know who the father of this Thomas is?

I would appreciate any help and especially a marriage lookup for around 1824-25 in Washington Co. for a Colley and Esley any spelling! Thanks! Julie

My gggrandfather was William Henry Colley from Yorkshire England. William married Emmaline Clarkson, possibly from Pensylvania. They had three children that I know of; Robert H.Colley, Charlotte and Sarah Agnes who was born July 23,1866 in either Orangeville,Ontario or Ottawa Canada. Sarah married John Arthur Heaton and they moved to Middlesboro Kentucky. Sarah died in 1944 and in the newspaper clipping of her death it mentioned that her brother Robert was living in Calgary,Alberta Canada and that her sister Charlotte was Mrs. Sweeney of Saskatchwan, Canada.I would love to hear from any relatives and swap information!
Colley of Yorkshire or Newcastle?

I am trying to trace my gt gt grandmother. Her maiden name was Sarah Jane Waters Colley and she married John Campey a boot & shoe repairer(from Hull?). Their daughter (my gt grandmother) Alice Campey was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1866 (although she seems to have spent most of her life in Leeds, West Yorkshire). Has anyone come across any of these names in their research? I would appreciate any help, as I seem to have come to a dead end at present!
