Collin Family- South Moor, Stanley, Durham

I have a family portrait which I believe to be of the family that was taken about 1915 (not yet verified). From what I have ascertained so far, those present include:
George Collin (1874)
Mary Jane Collin, nee Middlemast (1874)
Dora Jane Collin (1893)
Ernest Collin (1898)
John Collin (1900)
George Collin, who later played football for Derby and Sunderland (1905)
Thomas Collin (1911)

This leaves me with 2 not identified. Can anyone help?

My half-sisters uncle Dennis Wallis is only surving child from that union and is alive and living in Vancouver, Wa. (he took his step-fathers name). Lester also had four more children with Cleda Baker. Robert, Linda, Alberta and Rodrick Collins. My younger sister was a Collins. Dennis knows nothing of his grandparents and would enjoy any info.
Collin Dechaine Marquis Saucier

My Grandparents were Clarence Joseph Collin and Lottie Charlotte Dechaine His parents were Levite Collin and Josephine Marquis, Hers were Jospeh Louis Dechaine and Marie Agnes Saucier. They were all from Frenchville/St.Agatha Maine. Before that the family came out of Canada. Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Madawaska to name a few places. I would like to connect with any family no matter how distant. I never knew my fathers family. He left home when he was 17 and settled in California. He did not tell me why until before his death in 1999. He was a 'mixed breed' European and Aboriginal North American Indian. from my understanding the family was ashamed of this and tried to keep it hidden. I have found much of the truth but will always keep looking for more. I can be reached by email at golanv_igvyi@gpcom.net My name is Scott

My Name is Scott Collin. My father Donald Clarence Collin was born in Maine. His parents were from Frenchville and St. Agatha. They both died in Connecticut. I know very little about his family other than names dates and places. He left Maine and I grew up in California. My Father died March 2nd of 1999. Today is 12 years he has been gone. He raised me catholic and told me we were french Canadian. Before his death he told me that was a lie and I should try to find out the truth. I have spent the last 5 years doing just that. I know more about his family origins than he ever did but have had little luck finding close relatives who are willing to talk with me. His brother is little help but at least he will talk to me. His older sister refuses to speak to me and i have had no luck finding his baby sister. I am not sure if we are connected but would love to hear from you if we are. Please Email me at golanv_igvyi@gpcom.net if you think we might be connected.

Brian,
I can't help you with descendent information per say, but you might be interested in some baptism information from Belgium on the ancestors you mentioned.

The Mathilde MARTIN you made mention of was baptized "Mathilde-Maximilienne Martin" in Perwez, Brabant Province, Belgium on 9 Jan 1851. Parents were listed as Francois MARTIN (of Petit Rosiere area?) and Cecile JOSSE.

Their marriage took place in Perwez also on 22 Aug 1849. They are listed as "Francois-Joseph MARTIN & Cecile-Josephe JOSSE". Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me directly at barryusa@mchsi.com if you have any more questions. I'm not related to that line, but do know a bit about the COLLIN/COLLINS family of Brown County, WI.

Re: Joseph and Mathilda Collin; Belgians; d: Alexandria, MN ~1930

I am looking for ancestors of my father: Edouard Walter Requilez(born 7/21/1916).
His father's name was: Toussaint Jean Louis Requilez and
His mother's name was: Clara Bettem.
My great-grandfather's name was: Pierre Joseph Requilez
(married to a Mary Josephine Collin) originally
from Belgium and came to the United States somewhere
around the late 1800's maybe early 1900's. Any information
from European background will be appreciated.

I only say this because my great grandmothers name was Mary Josephine Collin from Belgium around the same time. I wonder if Mary Josephine Collin from Belgium was related to Joseph Collin from Belgium? The other information is sometimes good in case you cross over some pertinent information in old papers, diaries or sometimes legal papers.
Please email me if you come to the same conjecture.

Good luck to us both.
Sincerely,
J. Cassity
I can supply quite a bit of further info on the Cormack family - daniel and Alexander were cousins who came down from Caithness to Coldingham to work as signalmen on the shore. Please email me directly on campbelljacqui@hotmail.com and I can fill in the blanks.

Best wishes

Jacqui

We have Alexander Cormack married to Janet Colvin in 1757. Alexander described in various sources as fisher (1786,1789), midshipman and subsequently signal man at St Abbs Head signal station (1810,1811). References found to the signal station during Napoleonic wars.

We are interested in his relationship to Daniel Cormack (1745-1802, married Isobel Mennin 1766). Alexander could have been Daniel's cousin or nephew and it is possible that the 2 of them came from Aberdeenshire and settled as the first Cormacks in the Eyemouth/Coldingham area, but we have no concrete evidence for this.

Daniel's son Thomas (1773-1839) married a Collin (Euphemia or Elpet?) in 1797 at Coldingham.

Hi, I'm looking for descendents/relatives of Joseph and Mathilda Collin who died in Alexandria, MN in the 1930's.

Mathilda died there in 1930. Her maiden name was Martin. She was born in Belgium in 1851 and emigrated in 1855 with her parents, Francois and Cecile Martin to the Green Bay, WI area where many Belgians settled. She and Joseph Collin were married there in 1871. I don't know when they moved to Minnesota, though I suspect it was soon after that.

I have no date or place of birth for Joseph Collin, though he was also Belgian.

Any connections out there?

Brian Martin (formerly of Huron, South Dakota)
