      <description>Robert Herndon, if you are still alive, you are in the family tree information I have compiled. I attempted to contact some members of your Herndon branch of the family tree, living in the Albano Road area in Orange County, VA, but was rudely rebuffed.  Perhaps your group has mellowed with age? If so, I would be very happy to communicate with any of you! Unlike certain others, Carrie Mae Herndon Easton (now sadly deceased) was very helpful and knowledgeable. She gave me a good deal of information, which I later substantiated in various records.</description>

      <description>We recently were given a page on the Colvin Newton Family Tree.  Elizabeth Whitmore Reed was listed as born in 1786 in Somerset, PA and married Hezekiah Bonham Reed who was born in NJ. Does anyone know what the connection was to the Colvin Newton Family Tree?&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Her father Jacob Whitmore, was listed as born 1767, in Carroll, Maryland.  I am directly descended from Jacob.  We have never known his birthplace.  Does anyone have documentation to confirm his birth in Maryland and who his family was?       <description>COLVIN, Pastor Henry age 78, of Englewood, Ohio, was called home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 30, 2011. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Born in Brent, Alabama to the late Jeff and Rebecca Mcfarland Colvin. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was a veteran of the United States Army, employed with Ohio Steel and retired from International Harvester after 27 years and was a longtime resident of Springfield. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He advanced his knowledge of the Holy Scriptures at Cedarville College, Wilberforce College and Wittenberg University. &lt;br&gt;In addition, he served as Assistant Pastor at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Springfield, Ohio, as Pastor of First Baptist Church, Jeffersonville, Ohio and Harvest Grove MB Church, founded Philippians MB Church, Dayton, Ohio until being called to serve as Senior Pastor of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for 30 years. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was united in holy matrimony to Fannie B. Stockdale in 1957 and to this union three daughters were born. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Preceded in death by his 8 brothers &amp;amp; sisters; 2 wives, Martha A.       <description>I have Henry and Catherine (McFARLAND) COLVIN's (born 1799 in NC) family on one of my extended branches.  From the 1870 Bullock Co., AL census, it appears some of the children listed may be grandchildren, children of Flora Ann (Flory) COLVIN who possibly married a Mr. PURVIZ.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;However, the census goes back and forth between the PURVIZ and the COLVIN surnames, but some of the birth years seem a little late to be children of Henry and Catherine.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I have tried to find the PURVIZ children in later census records, but have not been able to locate them.       <description>Hi Barbara-- Long time no write. I just wanted to tell you that I found Alexander Colvin ancestor of our Colvin men. He came to America fighting for the British during the Rev. War and was captured in Albemarle County Va. He then stayed here after the war. I will be making a trip to  Va for the proof, but FINALLY- found him and know how he got here. He was captured in 1777.       <description>I believe I am connected and am so pleased to have found this thread.  My grandmother, Nellie Mae Roberson Nichols was orphaned in the early 1900's,  Per her "delayed" birth certificate her mother was Mary Collivan married to James Wilson Roberson.  I think Collivan is really Colvin.  Mary was born in 1864.  I think she may be the Mary Pullium or Colvin living with Joseph V &amp;amp; Jane in Pike County.  My grandmother believed she was born in Pike County.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Any help would be greatly appreciated.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Mary Weigandt</description>

      <description>I just found your old post, and I am so happy to see it!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I have been searching for my father's family in Oklahoma and have found nothing concrete.  My father was James Preston Colvin from Alma. My grandfather was the Otto Colvin from Alma mentioned in the obit you posted.  His father was Samuel V. Colvin.  Samuel died when Otto was very young and none of Otto's family knew about his history.  In fact, they believed (mistakenly I think) Samuel was from Michigan. My grandfather is Jewell Jernigan (Mattie's son).  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I am super confused about the native american aspect of our family.  My grandfather said that his grandmother, Matilda Colvin was Creek Indian.  I do not understand all the conflicting views on Matilda's ethnicity but would sure love to figure it out.  Also, if you have a picture of Mattie and her twin brother John, I would deeply appreciate a copy.</description>

      <description>James, the lady you are referring to (you grandmother?) is Flora Ellen Cary.  She first married Arh Beswick then George C. Young.  Based on information I found she and Arch were married twice.  You may find some more information on the Hardwick Tree on Ancestry.  I believe I have more details in my files and FTM if you are interested.  Just let me know.  Do you have a picture of your grandmother or any of her husbands?  I would love to have scans of them.  </description>
