As far as I can tell from researching the peerages of England, there is no relationship between Lord Bishop COMPTON of London, England and the COMPTON families who emigrated with Lord Calvert/Baltimore and settled in the land grant Charter given by King Charles I what would become St. Mary's and Charles Counties, MD and land in VA.

Posting a full genealogy of my COMPTON lineage, what I've researched thus far. If you have anything to add to validate or correct a perceived error, please contact me via beachwatergirl@yahoo.com.

Hoping you are still out there. You mentioned that you have researched the Comptons in New Jersey for 30 years. Do you know the heritage of this Compton family from New Jersey?: David E. Compton b. Sept 1816 with siblings William S. b. ?; Ira b. 1815; Amanda M. b. abt 1820; Mark b. 11/1824. They moved to PA-Wayne Co/Palmyra Township bet 1820 and 1824. David E. Compton grew up and /m abt 1837 to Phoebe Unknown. Children: Sarah b bet 1838-1844; Mary b. bet 1840-1842; David E. b. 1845; Elizabeth (Betsy) b. 1847; William b. 1852; Lucy Catherine (Kate) b. 1857; Phoebe Jane b. 11/28/1860.

William Robert Compton was my Great Grandfather. He married Sara Ellen Bishop, March 12 1863 in Madison Illinois. They had 13 children.

His Father and Mother were William Compton 1812-1844 and Martha(Patsy)Olive 1817-1841 Married Dec 7 1837 in Madison Illinois. They had 2 children William Robert and Charity.

This is something that everyone is searching for, and have been for many years. The tradition has something to say about a "secret marriage" but the search is still on for proof of the connection between John Compton and Henry Compton.

The funeral of Mrs. William H.Hunt whose death occured April 9 from paralysis, will be held from her late residence on Main St. at 1 o'clock this afternoon rev.H.K.Steel pastor of the Townville Methodist Episcopel church, will conduet the services,assisted by Rev.E.A.Semore pastor of the Linesville Baptist Church. The interment will be made at Lyona. Mrs.William H. Hunt a daughter of Riley and RuthDavison. Was born at Fairport,O.,
Jan. 10,1816. In 1847 the family moved to Randolph where they lived until after her marriage to William H.Hunt, Feb.24,1868 When the moved to Lyona and resided there until about one year ago,when they came to Townville. In early life she became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and was a sincere and consistent Christian. She has been for the past year a constant sufferer never complaining and bearing her pain with patience and Christian submission. Her many lovable qualities made her a beloved wife and mother, a kind neighbor andsincear friend. Besides her husband she leaves two daughters, Mrs.Minnie Willy, of Lyona, and Miss Cora Hunt at home; two brothers, Levi Davison,Earlville,Ill. and Luther Davison of Titusville; three sisters Mrs.W.L.Higby, Olean N.Y. Mrs.MaryCulver, Union City, and Mrs.Bell Lamb, Grand Valley, and a large circle of friends to morn her loss.

Abram Compton was my GG grandfather Hezekiah's oldest son I believe.
I don't have a Margaret Compton as a child of Abram. It could be, as his mother's name was Margaret Benson.

I am sending this reply to you as Mary Compton's message was so old.

Adelia Ann or Delia Ann Compton, Abrams sister was my G grandmother. This is a person of interest to me. After the 1875 County Census we have no idea what happened to her.
Margaret Benson Compton died in North Dakota in 1904 while living wiht my grandfather Charles Denton Compton.

Laura that Margaret Ann mentioned in her will is Margaret's brother Jacob Rice Compton,s daughter, Laura Louise Compton who was b. Oct 1884 in Louisa, KY and d. Jan 1987 Olive Hill, Boyd Co, KY. Laura married James Allen Prichard, MD on 31 Jan 1909 and they had two sons Marvin Compton Prichard & Herbert Jacob Prichard. James died 10 Jun 1932 and Laura never re-married.

We have done a DNA test. We receive only the matches which is great for a research area but doesn't help with ruling out lines. Is there anyone on here who has also tested and interested in finding out more about the non-matches? This would be a good way to share info and help in which lines are definitely not a match. We tested with the Compton DNA project on Familytreedna.

She was born on January 2, 1926 in South Ripley, N.Y. a daughter of the late Orlando and Henrietta Curtis Trask. Stella was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in North East and enjoyed working in her garden, doing ceramics and painting. During her life she had worked at Jiffy Foods and Sunshine Packing in North East. She was preceded in death by her first husband Phillip H. Seene Sr. in 1990, her second husband John R. Compton in 2006, one son, Phillip H. Seene Jr, four brothers and three sisters. Stella is survived two daughters, Rosemarie (Sookie) Million and her husband James of North East and Margie Seene of Orlando, Fla., two sisters Martha Chambers and Alice Chambers both of Findley Lake, N.Y. Also survived by three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, 92 S.
