Searching the listed family names in the Hanover, Berlin, Prussia areas of Germany. Grandfather Hans Brehmer was a veterinarian from Wiehe, Germany. Married Else Kegel from Hannover. Grandfather Andreas Bosek married Marie Conrad from Berlin. Also the names Jannicke, Kegel, Koch, Schultius, Vilwock, Werdeman and Zander.

Henry S Crooks - Conrad/Conard connection

Hoping to confirm some of the work I've done on my family tree, as I'm new to this and want to be sure I'm following the chains correctly.

My great grandmother was the daughter of Norma Crooks Brown Weeks, born 3 Aug 1892, died 1 Feb 1977. Norma was the daughter of Henry S Crooks, 31 Mar 1861 to 19 Mar 1939. From there, based on a combination of hints and other trees, I believe Henry was the son of Cyrus Edward Crooks (1833 - 1886) and Mary K Hold (1837-1850) Cyrus was the son of Abraham (1788-1859) and Catherine Conrad/Conard (1795-1838).

Now, here's where I am unsure: I've seen Catherine's last name spelled Conrad/Conard and her ancestors spelled Conders, Kunders, Cunrads, and Conradts. I'd like be as sure as I can be that I have the right person or people attached for accuracy, but I also believe that the John Conrad/Conard attached to my tree served in the Revolutionary War. If I understand correctly, this makes me eligible to apply for the Sons of the American Revolution with appropriate documentation.

Sorry for the long post, but I hope that someone can help me confirm.

DOD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the deaths of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

They died Feb. 23, in Nangarhar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when their unit came under small arms fire. They were assigned to the 385th Military Police Battalion, 16th Military Police Brigade (Airborne), XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Stewart, Ga.

Killed were:

Cpl. Timothy J. Conrad Jr., 22, of Roanoke, Va.

I'm looking for information on George Conrad born 1782 in Maryland and married to Dorothy Rebecca Batt born 1813. George is the father of Catharine Conrad who married John Michael. Alot of people have linked George Conrad as the son of Jacob Conrad but I can't find any evidence of this. Does anyone have any information on George?

J. B. was also my grandfather, through his second wife Monica.
If I can remember his sons and daughters were Ina, Dave, Harry, Roy Doris, Emma Jean, and Eldon. I can't remember all of them. Some of the others were Rose, Mavis, Clint, George Johnny (who was killed early in life), Woody, He is survived by 3 daughters. Ina, Doris, and Emma Jean, and 2 sons Harry and Eldon as far as I know.
All were descended from Jacob Conrad from Cairns Switzerland. Born 1705 and immigrated 1730's I believe.

I believe we might be related. My grandmother (Natalie Conrad) had a father named Julius and mother named Augusta. They came over from Russia via Bremen Germany in 1913. Census says she is Lithuanian. Settled in Philadelphia. I found a lot of Conrad records at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Philadelphia. That is where my grandmother married Edmund Rosenthal in 1919. It looks as if that Tabitha McKee was born in 1849 and died in 1869. Tabitha McKee who married James Jackson Blanchett (my father's maternal grandfather) gave birth to my grandmother in 1888.

Specifically the small villages around and ne of Bitche, France along what is now the German border. I have resource books from that region giving names but want to connect families with those families here. My specific family came in from New Orleans about 1940.

Well, ten years later. Hoping you all have signed up for notifications :). I live in Batavia and am doing some research about the family that built and lived in my house in 1901, Nicholas Conrad. I believe he is a brother of Elizabeth. The census lists his birth year as 1867. I would love any information either of you have on the family.

My great-great-grandfather, Daniel B. Conrad, was born 10/17/1798 in Berks County, PA and was baptized in the Hill Church with the sponsors being his mother's parents, Waldus and Barbara Boehm. Daniel married an Elizabeth ??? Can anybody shed any light on her last name please. They moved over to Dauphin County (Middle Paxton Township) and then in the mid 1860's, moved to Seneca County, Ohio. Daniel and Elizabeth are buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Tiffin, Ohio

CONRAD Carl Hensel Conrad, age 86, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Crown Pointe Care Center.

He was born March 26, 1925 in Lancaster, Ohio.(Fairfield County)

Carl was a graduate of Central High School, Columbus, Ohio. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp serving in WWII and worked for Avery Pontiac/Dave Gill Pontiac for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death parents Nicholas and Sylvia (Cram) Conrad, by his wife of 56 years, Georgia A. (Shaeffer) Conrad, and daughter Donna K. Conrad.

He is survived by daughter, Sandra (Joseph) Darnell, Quincy, FL; son, Kenneth (Diana) Conrad, Beach Park, IL; grand-children, Linda (Scott) Bergmen, Quincy, FL, Karen (David) Liming, Wheaton, IL, Jeff (Tina) Darnell, Quincy, FL, and Shaun Conrad, Cornelius, OR; and great-grand-children, Allison and Zoe Bergman, Quincy, FL and Rose and Maggie Liming, Wheaton, IL.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Garden of Apostles Section, 5600 East Broad St., Columbus, Ohio.

I am also researching the Conrad family. My great grandmother was a Conrad but I can't find much about her family. Her oldest descendant that I can find is August Conrad from Sebewaing, Huron, MI. He was born in Prussia abt 1824. I can't seem any more information about the family.

The unidentified Samuel Conrad here seems a bit older than your ancestor. I wonder whose son he is? He seems to be part of the Northumberland/Crawford counties Conrad clan.

On 31 Aug. 1837, Samuel Conrad of Mead Twp. married to Polly Beers of Wayne Twp., by J. P. Daniels, Esq. Meadville Courier, 5 Sept. 1837. Samuel’s wife Mary “Polly” Beers was the daughter of Samuel Beers and Betsy Proper. (See Orphans Court D:512, November Term 1855, partition of estate of Samuel Beers, and Deed Book O-2:646+, heirs of Samuel Beers, made 31 Oct. 1848, recorded 30 July 1857.) David Conrad’s sister-in-law Sarah Susannah Steinbrook married Samuel Beers Jr.

Yes, I have Elizabeth Conrad Stainbrook/Steinbruch/Steinbrook in my tree, husbands name is Jacob. My Samuel B. Conrad was married to Mary (Unknown Maiden Name). He was born in 1831 and died in 1892. Marriage year of 1855.

Did your Samuel ever migrate to Crawford Co.? We have a Samuel Conrad here, in the late 1830's. He married here, and then disappears. I haven't been able to tell exactly where he fits in - too many people with the same names! We also have Christian Conrad, the suspected brother of my David Conrad (one of the younger sons of Peter). We also have John Nicholas Conrad (son of Jacob and brother of my ancestor Elizabeth Conrad Steinbrook), and Elizabeth Conrad who married Isaac Kightlinger, along with tons of Steinbrooks. Anyway, we appear to be fairly closely related, via Peter Conrad AND his wife.

Double dipping - I descend from Jacob Stainbrook and wife Elizabeth Conrad (dau. of Jacob of Northumberland Co.), and from David Conrad (who appears to be the son of Peter Conrad and wife Magdalena Stainbrook) and his wife Elizabeth Stainbrook. It gets complicated!

Just FYI - several branches of the Nod. Co. Conrad family came "west" to Crawford Co., PA. There are still members of the family living here.

I think I might have an answer for you. In my Steinbruch tree is Henry Steinbruch, son of George Frederick, b. 12 Oct. 1770, Berks Co. Had a first marriage, 1790-94, WIFE UNKNOWN, 8 children. Second wife was Eva Catherine Leffler, married by 1809. I don't have all of the children's names at my fingertips, but I am aware of Elizabeth, b. 1803 in Somerset Co. They appear to have been in Somerset as early as 1796. By 1805 Henry had relocated to Crawford Co. The Steinbruchs and Conrads are terribly interwoven, and it takes some patience to sort them all out.

When I "go to the family tree section" (you mean the tab, right?) all I get are the two family trees that I am a member of and "start a tree" and "upload a gedcom". I am not a member of your tree so it is not listed. A search turned up over a million hits and the 2 that showed up on the first 100 had 12 and 5 people in them. No surnames I could relate to.
